No 'Can Do

When I was in my 20's, any guy my age who had a pot belly wasn't gettin' any from me, if you know what I mean. I'm tired of seeing fat young people. I can't imagine what they'll look like (and what their health will be like) when they get into their 50's and 60's.

Hardly Representative

My Rep has a town hall meeting in my neighborhood scheduled for tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. Last time I checked, Friday is part of the work week, and 9:00 a.m. is during work hours. I know that there are a lot of people out of work, but having a meeting on this day, at that time, means that a lot of working people will be excluded.

No excuse for violence on either side.

Getting hit in the face isn't funny, and having one's finger bitten off certainly isn't funny. Both people should be charged with whatever is appropriate for what they did.

Yup

There's just something about the way a dancer carries himself, with grace, strength and control. It's beautiful to watch.

CitizenRob

Presumption of guilt?

Um, no, this is ACTUAL guilt. In which the perpetrator PLED GUILTY. In other words, he admitted that he had engaged in non-consensual sex with a minor.

gar has it right

Some people do abuse leave. You document that and discipline appropriately. It's not an excuse to take leave away from everyone else, though.

Most people need, at minimum, a couple of sick days in a year just to address routine health issues, like dental visits, eye exams, routine physicals/mammograms/ob-gyn exams, etc. You might also need a day off to take your spouse in for a colonoscopy, for example. And, if you have children, you are going to be responsible for taking them to the doctor as well. I'm not sure how this can be avoided.

And then sometimes you, your spouse or your kids do actually get sick. Some people are lucky and they rarely get sick. To quote the Church Lady, "Isn't that special?". But it is luck, and most of the time, luck runs out.

It is a sign of the highest contempt for working people to deny them any paid sick leave. So, it's not surprising that this comes from the Chicago school.

The Origin of Stupidity

My apologies if anyone has already posted this (I haven't been able to read all the comments so far), but here is a link to a YouTube video that is actually a pretty good rebuttal to Cameron and his buddies:
