Sexual Battery by an Authority Figure:
http://www.state.tn.us/tccy/tnchild/39/39-13-527.htm
does not apply if the victim is over 18 years of age.
It also does not apply only to teachers, but to anyone who is "...at the time of the offense in a position of trust, or had supervisory or disciplinary power over the victim by virtue of the defendant's legal, professional or occupational status and used the position of trust or power to accomplish the sexual contact"; or had "...at the time of the offense, parental or custodial authority over the victim and used the authority to accomplish the sexual contact."
I don't see people here as supporting sexual harassment. It's simply a matter of whether something should be subject to criminal prosecution (which sexual harassment is not) or whether it should be handled in another way (in the civil courts or by the employer). It looks like most people are saying that it should be the latter.
You mean you haven't gotten your invitation to the big secret gay inauguration party?
Loser! ;-)
You are one hateful person.
I'll pray for you. Jesus would want me to.
Obama is the one who needs "Godspeed", I think, since he's going to have to pull us out of a profoundly deep hole.
Bush is off the hook now. He can go live out the rest of his life in ease and comfort. He doesn't care how low his approval is, so it shouldn't bother you either.
I think that says it all. This is such an amazing time.
But I find that movies set in the 1980's bear no resemblance at all to the 1980's that I lived through (graduated high school in 1980, college in 1984). Maybe one of these movies will bring some actual memories - who knows?
As every move that Obama makes to dismantle the police state (assuming that he is really committed to it) will cause the rending of garments and the gnashing of teeth among the likes of McArdle. It is invaluable to have your factual rebuttals to these screeds.
Really. Can you imagine actually being him/her?
Go back to your barricaded basements or wherever it is you choose to spend your paranoid days and nights. We have no use for you.
Then get used to looking like an idiot.
Because anyone with an internet connection and a bit of curiosity could find out almost instantly that there have been at least a few other Presidents sworn in without Bibles. Obviously, Fox has faith in the absolute mindlessness of its viewers.
So, while I think Blago is about as corrupt as they come, I don't think he needs to be pilloried for this.
Still, it might be fun to suggest some better analogies for the soon-to-be-ex-governor.
I obviously don't know everything, but I haven't seen any reports of dead babies at this point.
At any rate, it seems as if, no matter where a bomb falls in the world, and no matter who dropped that bomb, there are babies there. I wonder why this is. Could it be that dead babies make great propaganda tools?
I'm simply waiting to hear what actually happened. Lots of folks jumping the gun here.
I'm not saying he's rational. But this appears to be the way he sees it, so I'll take it at face value. His perception is what it is.
And, frankly, I can decide for myself whether or not something has "redeeming social value". One size does not fit all in that respect.
If Blago shows up with The Temptations, he gets to stay!
I guess that's one way to look at it.
Another way to look at it is that this was a family matter, and not really my business as an American voter.
There's simply no way I'm going to find fault with Elizabeth Edwards here.
It seems like the requirement for a heel on a shoe is an attempt to eliminate things like sneakers.
Since women have many more options when it comes to "business" dress, I think some of the advice makes sense.
I doubt that Elizabeth Edwards would be writing about this if the National Enquirer hadn't published the story.
I'm not saying it isn't news. But, to say that she was an "accomplice" during the campaign is a little melodramatic.
And, Elephantman, spare me your faux outrage. It gets really tiresome.
Are you my father-in-law?
Seriously, you sound just like him. You guys sure know your talking points!
I have someone in my family who is very allergic to sesame and mustard. These allergies have resulted in several trips to the ER when she started experiencing anaphylaxis.
But, I think the point of this article is that truly deadly allergies may be less common than is generally believed, and that parents may be overreacting to the threat.
Neither of these statements is denying anyone's real experiences with food allergies.
While I share your opinion of Elephantman, I went back and read the article again, and I can find no instance of the author saying that food allergies are "bunk".
I heard this morning that Michael Phelps has now been forced (well, no one said he was forced, but it's pretty obvious) to make a statement that he is going to work hard to regain everyone's trust.
What the hell? What "trust" has he broken? What "trust" does he owe anyone?
I hope the person who took and sold that photo is feeling like a real shit, because that's what they are.
I was especially struck by the comments on how, for example, if Amy Goodman showed up on "Meet the Press", that she could call into question the narrative that has been built, and unquestioned, for years.
How I wish that would happen!
