Are you kidding, asking a question like this?
Of course, choice doesn't only mean you have to terminate a pregnancy.
But, the policy position that Palin espouses means that, if she and McCain are elected, they will try to make sure that the only choice that is available will be giving birth to an unwanted child. Having only one choice is not a choice. Understand?
But, in the upside-down world that is right-wing Republicanism, a policy like that is not the same thing as government telling anyone what to do.
Will you please stop posting that link to a (poorly) photoshopped image?
Look, the truth about Sarah Palin is more than enough to make any thinking American vote against her. We don't need faked photos to make the point.
I don't know if anyone has already said this, but after reading your letter, I'm too pissed off to read further.
90% of fetuses with Down syndrome are aborted. And your proof that all of these abortions are decided on by "liberals" is...what, exactly?
You are a hateful person. Screw you.
Just kidding.
But, I did comment elsewhere online just yesterday that Americans who want a President to be just like them must be incredibly narcissistic. In effect, they are saying that they are qualified to be President.
Some of y'all just have way too much self-esteem.
The bogus nature of the list will serve to discredit the entire story, which could have been fairly damaging. (Most people don't want to ban books -- that kind of thing really only appeals to the looney fringe.)
It's sad, but the true parts of the story will not survive.
...to see how many of the people reacting violently to this article are first-time letter writers to Salon.
It's almost as if some kind of dispatch went out to the Republican faithful. "Hie thee to Salon! Quickly! They're saying unkind things about Sarah! We'll pay you by the word!"
That's laudable.
But will she (Palin) defend the rights of the rest of us to make our own decisions? Her stated policy positions (especially with regard to abortion) say otherwise.
What grace and humanity in the face of such a devastating loss. I very much want to read Ms. McCracken's memoir.
And, Editors, if there is any way that first posting can be erased, please do so. Such ugliness is completely out of place here.
seems to be to lay the blame for our massive economic meltdown on the Community Reinvestment Act, from the Carter administration.
I think we all knew that it would ultimately come down to this: Blame it on poor people and/or those who advocate for them.
It doesn't sound like she's writing a book about Obama. It sounds like she's writing a book about politics and race. I say this because the title of the book is, apparently, The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama.
...and I support gay marriage.
...and I'm pro-choice.
...and I support gun control.
...and I oppose tax cuts for the wealthy.
...and I think we should end the war in Iraq.
...and I believe that global warming is real and is caused by human activity.
...and I'm voting for Barack Obama.
Hey, this is fun and easy! (Hope no one checks my background!)
Palin seemed to start out kind of strong, if a bit too "folksy", but the question on climate change has her babbling wildly already.
WTF?
Why don't you read a transcript and get back to us? Just skimming, I counted 42 references to "Barack" or "Barack Obama".
But, to me, this book sounds like something more along the lines of "In Cold Blood" than a true novel, so the insertion of public figures doesn't seem very bothersome. I think I'll add this to my reading list.
