Here at Salon Garrison Keillor has argued that there should be no investigation or prosecution of the Bush Administration for kidnapping, torture and murder. The columnist Leonard Pitts at the Miami Herald and others argue the same.
This week these America's media elite will denounce the imprisonment of those two American journalists by North Korea. Is America a great country or what?
Life is passing you by while you slave away at that device. Your smartphone owns your ass, and it's making you stupid.
Ever use your "smartphone" while crossing a street? See? Stupid!
Some of those human beings the Bushies, and now Obama-by proxy, have/are torturing are fathers. Should we give them a day off from being waterboarded, sleep deprived, wall slammed, force fed, etc?
It amazes me that public figures like Garrison and other prominent pundits like Pulitzer prize winning Leonard Pitts can go on record calling for immunity for the Torturers and still appear in public venues and be treated with respect. Torture is not something reasonable people can disagree about. It is evil. It is a crime.
Garrison read this piece today in Salon.

somewhere some poor nastard is being tortured by an American or an American proxy. Garrison has argued that it's OK, no need for accountability, just back to entertaining the good folks and keeping their eye off the ball. I don't know who deserves the most contempt-Garrison or his pathetic fucking fans.
Pussy has never been free.
In describing the hate mail you have received you write that "O'Reilly must be proud to have such educated and compassionate viewers."
I can tell you that I have contacted NPR many times about the role that Juan Williams plays on the O'Reilly show and they always respond with boiler plate assertions of pride in having him on their team.
Greenwald and Scott Horton at Harpers.org are my two must read bloggers everyday. Here is how Mr. Horton started off his blog today:
More evidence of the Obama team’s repudiation of its commitment to transparency, this time as it tries to keep Dick Cheney’s darkest secrets. Today’s Washington Post reports (on page A17, which is where the paper generally buries the truly important news):
If the Post was tipped to a modern version of Watergate today, would the Post investigate it?
I voted for Obama and so far he has betrayed me on every issue that I care deeply about. I have confidence that he will soon betray us all on healthcare. I don't know if he is corrupt or simply spineless in the face of Republican criticism and corporate power, but he is proving to be a third term of Bush. Sure you can find some things he is better than Bush at, but the wars continue, torure continues, domestic spying continues, immunity for war crimes continues and the rich continue to get richer and the poor continue to get poorer.
I think that what pisses me off most is that he was the first Presidential candidate in a long time who I voted for and not simply against the other guy. I feel like a stupid chump!!
The American people would never have the balls to take to the streets as the Iranians are in opposition to oppression. We talk a lot of shit and we love our guns. But at heart we are sheep.
Dear listener;

As for your message, we appreciate your thoughts regarding NPR's coverage of the "torture memos" and language used to describe waterboarding and harsh interrogation methods. Prompted by concerned listeners like you, the Ombudsman wrote a column about the language of torture used in NPR programming. I welcome you to read the column and leave a comment.
Making decisions about covering the events that impact our everyday lives is never easy. At times, because of the nature of a story, content may be offensive to listeners. However, we make every attempt to ensure that the segments you hear, and the attention devoted to them, are valid and appropriate. We welcome praise, as well as criticism, as your thoughts are taken into consideration.
Sincerely,
Anna Tauzin

Body: I shouldn't be surprised that NPR, which features FOX/GOP news commentators Juan Williams and Maura Liason and GOP pundit Cokie Roberts as your own, would downplay the Bushies' use of torture by continuing, even after all the recent revelations, to use the euphemism "harsh interrogation techniques" to describe their treatment of prisoners. One example: Two human beings were waterboarded by the Bushies 266 times in one month. The UN says that was torture. The Geneva conventions say that was torture. NPR and the GOP say it was simply "harsh interrogation techniques."
Once a couple states legalized gay marriage Sanford's marriage was doomed.
And so is the BBC. I don't think they could exceed the coverage they're giving to the death of this has-been pop star if the Pope, Queen and Barack Obama has died together while engaged in three-way sex.
Salon, you had an opportunity here to be unlike the rest of the press and simply acknowledge the death of wacko jacko, and move on-but instead you have joined hands with them and beat this shit to death, resurrect it and beat it some more. I am now forced to unplug my computer and radio for the next several days
