Don't Hold Your Breath
[Read the article: Lying to Congress has become a Republican principle, literally]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]When Congress is responsible for oversight of this cabal of sociopaths we call the Executive Branch and they lack the simple decency to actually read the legislation they pass, I think it is fair to say we need to keep our expectations in check.
Apathy and money have undermined the value of diligence and accountability in public service.
If you are pounding the table in horror, you just aren't paying attention...

Impugning your ideology?
[Read the article: The Politico: Exhibit A for our broken political press]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Do the dingbats at the Politico even know about your conservative basis? Have fiscal responsibility and the rule of law become liberal novelties?
I say Edwards should pull a Brittney and shave his head! They want hair stories? Give them hair stories and marry it to his political messages.
Maybe start with a mohawk so he will have an additional chapter.

Dissent is also a uniquely American trait
[Read the article: Democrats bear responsibility for restoring habeas corpus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]One of the faults of the so-called left of the blogosphere is that it too often puts partisanship before principle. So I'm always very heartened when bloggers are willing to put principle first.
Ben, I wouldn't limit the partisanship to the left, in fact the right leaning blogs I see are distinctly more likely to do so. Are examples anything more than redundant? It is always important to scrutinize whether any source is merely serving as an advocate for a party talking point or perhaps merely illustrating a coincidental supporting fact. Before attributing the circumstances to a left ideology or a right ideology, ask which party the article supports, GOP or Democrats. Then reconcile that with classic conservative ideals and classic liberal ideals.
Left or right doesn't necessarily mean what it used to mean when you evaluate your information sources through this lens.
Now
Left = Dissent
Right = Conformance until it becomes dissent
Ideology fell off the bandwagon years ago.

Subpar for daytime soaps
[Read the article: Comey's testimony raises new and vital questions about the NSA scandal]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"...to protect Ashcroft from having a conniving Card and Gonzales manipulate his severe illness and confusion by coercing his signature on a document -- behavior that is seen only in the worst cases of deceitful, conniving relatives coercing a sick and confused person to sign a new will -- but the administration's own FBI Director thought it was necessary to instruct his FBI agents not to allow Comey to be removed from the room."
This plot twist was initially rejected by "The Days Of Our Lives" for its excrutiatingly deceitful tone. It was too much betrayal for one episode to handle...

Snitches aren't fairing well under this admin
[Read the article: More fallout from the Comey revelations]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Let us not forget that the top tier of DOJ has been assumed by loyal bushies with meager legal qualifications. The whistleblowers following procedures in the system are finding roadblocks.
If the elephant in the room really is that all political and media personnel are under observation then any traditional channel for airing this conspiracy has been undermined.
Comey's testimony came during a brief period where the White House agreed to put "this program" within the constraints of FISC. Perhaps this testimony is a large reason why the White House has rescinded their January agreement?
Perhaps they are "tuned in" to all communications within the congress and the media once again to try and regain their masterful narrative again?
Stop yer snitchin' cause they're alistenin'
Again.

Yoohoo! Shooter!
[Read the article: The administration's FISA falsehoods continue unabated]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Stop snorting your Cheetos! Surely your sinuses are an even brighter orange than your hat. How many corn filled kleenexes are you going to soil before you realize your derangement!
When you finally come down from your delusion of grandeur and acknowledge your addiction to non-reality perhaps 12 steps back will help.

Loyal Bushies in the Judicial Branch
[Read the article: The al-Marri decision]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Only one of three in this original decision, but 8 of 12 in the appellate court?
Of the 8 I'm wondering how much humiliation it will take to help them notice that America is watching?
I get closer to marching on DC everyday.

No time to hate
[Read the article: Richard Cohen's brilliant (and unintentional) exposé of our media]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Then tell us what you are actually concerned about in words you would use if we were sitting right next to you.

Sounds to me like Ace is either jealous or a rapist.

Skeptics waxing esoterically on the meaning of
[Read the article: "Fringe liberal bloggers"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Reactionary
finding common ground and compromise towards the best possible outcome
How does a healthy skeptic prioritize current issues in importance?
healthyskeptic keeps dancing between the term's inference in a Versailles context versus the Marxist context and has emerged with perhaps a truly modern context. A perjorative for those who are afraid of being called a leftist, a.k.a. authoritarian enabler.

Undermining the Zombie Dynamic
[Read the article: Notes on "A Tragic Legacy"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"that requires a strength of character which many people, certainly those offended by the notion that Bush's religious beliefs are authentic, would be loathe to attribute to him"
This goes a long way toward explaining the group dynamics of the 29% who still feel this president is doing a good job.

"Late in the 1960s Wilson’s emphysema lead to repeated bouts of bronchitis, then to cases of pneumonia that confined him to his bed for long stretches of time. As his various illnesses deepened, so did his hallucinations. Though none were as singular as his “heat flash,” they ran the gamut from pleasurable scenes of youth and happiness, to demented and hostile visions of unseen things stalking him in the dark. His ravings drove the Wilson’s maid from the house in fear for her safety. The possibility exists that Wilson was suffering from Alzheimer’s, but that disease was largely unknown in those days.
Rumor has it that at the very end of his life, Wilson angrily begged for a drink. Begged and was denied.
Bill Wilson died of pneumonia on January 24th, 1971. "
