  • What's It Going To Take??!!

[Read the article: Where have all the e-mails gone?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

To bring articles of impeachment? Someone finding a tortured and dead human under the Oval Office desk? Yet another chunk of smoking gun evidence that irrefutably shows beyond a shadow of doubt that these aren't elected politicians hiding out at 1600 Penn Ave or other undisclosed locations, but rather a fraudulent pack of self-serving megalomaniacal jackals?

If Democrats don't start pinning these actions to each and every GOP rep in Congress, if their leaders can't make clear whether these reps stand for the flagrant and widespread obstruction of justice or for the founding principles and laws that supposedly govern this country, then they are as complicit and as guilty in my eyes as those whom they ultimately appease. I've heard enough about Executive privilege and so have the American people. What we haven't heard enough of is where and when the rule of law in this country started to apply only to a vast majority of people, but those who are more equal than others are allowed to skate.

  • Can Cheney be Charged With Obstruction?

[Read the article: How Cheney keeps his secrets]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I just read the letter sent to Cheney's office from Waxman that is the basis for this article.

    http://oversight.house.gov/documents/20070621093952.pdf

There's some pretty fundamental questions at the end of the letter asking things such as how did he come to see the OVP as neither part of the Executive nor the Legislative branch? What precedent was set before Lord Cheney annointed himself and his office a 4th branch of government? Any constitutional scholars out there want to take a stab at this one?

What I am left wondering is if Cheney stonewalls Waxman on this letter, is it within Waxmans' right to charge Cheney with any sort of obstruction violations? Does anyone know what the implications are if Cheney ignores this letter from Waxman? Subpoenas? Possible criminal charges?

  • Me Fail English?

    That UNPOSSIBLE!

Thanks Ralph Wiggum for summing it all up so succinctly.

Even as shocking as some of these statistics are, I wonder if this comes as any sort of surprise to those who regularly read this site. Chances are, it doesn't since most of you probably have education beyond a high school/GED level and are interested in points of view outside of the glossy filler over at CNN or elsewhere. It leaves me wondering if people would generally poll stronger in this survey if they were asked if they knew what the global percentage of shark attacks was or how much wrath mother nature unleashed last month compared to the month before. Maybe those examples are too abstract for the average Joe, but my guess is the answers and results would really surprise.

  • COMFORT? From a Worm?

[Read the article: The Cheney-Perino trifecta]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"...I am very comfortable with the process that we have in terms of how those debates get settled."

I'm SO glad we have your confidence in the suppression of our democracy Dana.. I'll sleep much better tonight.

Trifecta indeed. A genuine masterpiece of crap that should be bronzed and placed on the mantle next to R. Cohen's op ed defense of Scooter Libby.

  • Are We Still A Nation of Laws?

[Read the article: "It is my judgment"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I'm confused. Do we even have a country at this point or just a mish-mash of state governments with an overlord monarchy calling shots over his fiefdom?? I truly feel as though there is nothing left to believe in, that this country has zero honor left and a level of integrity that makes dirty, well worn doormats look like museum-quality tapestries. I can affirm that I still believe in the old parchments that are stored and displayed in Philly, but at this point, they represent nothing more than a fairy tale, a dream as faded as the white from their pages. Kinda like the blurry pictures your imagination constructs and fills your head with while listening to one of your grandparents' stories from long ago. The foundations it had laid for what was once a great nation has been thoroughly razed.

It's astonishing.. ASTONISHING to me, that so much unchecked damage to our constitution, to our founding principles, to our granted rights as citizens, to our long held belief in the rule of law, in justice, in peace and prosperity could have culminated to such miserable ends so fast. Eventhough efforts to subvert justice for one’s personal gain or protection is nothing new here, it took just a little over 6 years to push what has become a flaming trainwreck of a nation straight over the cliff and into oblivion.

The Kings' 2 tier justice system may as well have been an a-bomb going off in the minds and beliefs of everyone from those who opposed him from the outset to those who once held Him and His in high regard. There are only traces left, mere shadows burned into the walls of justice like the victims of Hiroshima, of what is left of this once great nations' rule of law and judicial system. It's all run by kangaroos apparently and functions to soak up tax money and the spotlights of those who want to manipulate it for their own personal gain.

Aside from the flickers of hope stemming from the investigations by Leahy, Conyers and Waxman, there is apparently little to no action being taken against these flagrant criminals. If complacency with these HIGH CRIMES is the M.O. for our Legislative branch, then we are truly back to having nothing more than ideas of what a nation should be and not one that is based in the broken, dysfunctional reality we all endure.
