Thank you Joan Walsh for not being intimidated to speak your mind. I find it incredibly ironic that those who are supporting a candidate who supposedly wants to bring us together in harmony are all too willing to violently dismiss anyone who does not agree with them. Guys -- that's not the way to build bridges!!!!
I love Joan Walsh because she is the voice of reason in an increasingly insane environment.
Florida residents (me included) have traditionally been anti-offshore drilling. However because of the extreme rise in gas prices, that sentiment has shifted here. I don't really see this as a flip flop but rather an adjustment to a changing world. I believe that it is a political winner for McCain because Obama offers no short-term solutions to the dilemma and is put in the position of being a naysayer rather than an problem solver.
This article made a lot of valid points but missed the most important one -- that Hillary was the most well informed candidate of all the Democrats and outshone them time and again in debates. While she wasn't my first choice, I grew to totally admire her smarts and moxie and was appalled at Obama's lack of depth regarding the issues.
The conclusion is also a faulty one because McCain is probably the only Republican that a lot of Clinton supporters actually feel comfortable supporting. If he is so unacceptable, why was he tapped to be John Kerry's running mate, why did he once consider switching parties, and why has he gotten under the skin of so many conservatives? Luckily, we do have somewhere to go and it really isn't out of spite so much as necessity. Just watch and see!
Shapiro's historical analogy may make sense in most circumstances, but this time, all bets are off. He should read Rebecca Traister's column, but ignore No. 12 which comes to the same conclusion. Because this race has been so different than any other with so many unique irregularities (take Florida and Michigan, for example) former paradigms do not apply.
Many still haven't fully gotten over 2000, so why should a few short months heal all wounds this time? Besides many Hillary supporters who watched this contest closely have grown to actually loathe Obama and its almost impossible to vote for someone who elicits that particular response.

Gee whiz, Hillary and Obama tied in Unity -- "Too cute by Half"...
Does this mean that Obama intends to put Hillary on his ticket? Don't hold your breath!
But it could "Turn the Tide" towards greater, you know, UNITY.
Sounds like the brainchild of that same person who thought up that Obamaland Seal thingy.
Guess you think that you have to lay it on real thick to penetrate our thick, stupid skulls. We get it -- oh boy do we ever.....
Keith Olbermann should not be taken seriously. His demeanor has become more and more demented and he has become impossible to watch. When is NBC going to wake up and ditch this bloviating, self-important, ridiculous fool?
I feel that a major speech at the Brandenburg Gate is a bit of over the top grandstanding on Obama's part. After all, it is his first trip to Europe and he is just a candidate at this point. He probably assumes that if he acts like a President, that will render it inevitable. Perhaps he should bring along that nifty faux Presidential Seal -- that is sure to impress those over the pond-ers.
I personally believe that a lower key approach would be more dignified and appropriate at this time! Save the rest for later -- if there is one.

I'm always sure to stop surfing channels whenever I see Joan on TV. To me she is the voice of reason (maybe that's because I usually agree with her). Love ya, Joan!!!!
I thought that the Warren Forum revealed a lot about both candidates in a more personal way than those held by the news media and I appreciate his effort. I recall that one of the best Democratic Debates was held by PBS with a schoolmarmish lady asking the questions -- but of course the media hated it and called it boring.
The questions that Warren asked were good ones and I personally didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the moderator nor feel that he was trying to upstage the candidates at all.
Saw the interviews after the fact on the Internet and couldn't sit though the entire Obama part -- his ums and ahs and slow responses were irritating and boring. McCain did himself a lot of good by providing crisp, concise and understandable answers. I didn't agree with some of what he said, but his performance style was indisputably superior to Obama's.
