Joan: "He (Obama) can't expect much help from most of the media.

Golly, Joan, maybe that's because the media is finally doing it's job. I'd get used to it if I were you. After all, they're simply exposing this trillion-dollar pork-a-loser for what it is. And it's about time. Republicans may not win the vote on this, but they sure are winning the argument. According to Rasmussen, support for this pork-laden debacle among the American people is down to 42% and sinking like a rock. And Obama's approval rating has sunk from 69% on the day he took office to 55% since this obamanation was passed by the House. That's a 14% drop in just two weeks!

If this bill remains in its current form or something close to it, I hope the Republicans are smart enough to step aside and let the Dems ram it through without a single supporting vote. Because then the Dems will own it. And two years from now, when nothing has been stimulated, unemployment is sky high, interest rates are soaring, and the dollar hits an all-time low, the people will toss these economic charlatans out on their derrieres.

Otherwise, Obama's only hope will be doing what he said he would do -- write a negotiated, non-partisan bill with the Republicans as partners. If he fails to do that, then his promise to behave in a bipartisan manner will amount to nothing more than more of the same. No change. No hope. No nothing. Just like his broken promise not to appoint lobbyists to his administration. Unfortunately, this "stimulus" package, if not completely overhauled and stripped clean of all the pork, will wind up being a very early nail in Obama's one-term coffin. And he will have brought it on himself.

PS: Is it just me or does White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs look just like the PC guy in the Apple commercials?

@ jonathanseer: "The polls indicate that the public is definitely on his side, and letting him do the thinking."

Actually, Rasmussen reports that support for this pork-laden debacle among the American people is down to 42% and sinking like a rock. Plus, Obama's approval rating has sunk from 69% on the day he took office to 55% since this obamanation was passed by the House. That's a 14% drop in just two weeks. This this "stimulus" package could be a very early nail in a one-term coffin.

Joan: "I felt like another anti-Daschle post on Salon would be bullying."

Oh, go ahead, Joan. Bully Daschle like you would a Republican. Or do you only back off when it serves your interests as a transparent, partisan hack? Daschle is an Ob-brassment. And the poor man has only been in office for two weeks. So go for it, Joanie baloney. Bully, bully, bully. Hack, hack, hack. That's what you're good at.

Okay, so that's four Ob-barrassments and the poor man has only been in office for two weeks.

1. Bill Richardson was asked by Obama to be Commerce secretary, but withdrew amid a grand jury investigation into a state contract awarded to his political donors.

2. Nancy Killefer, nominated by Obama to be the government's first chief performance officer, said she didn't want her bungling of payroll taxes on her household help to be a distraction.

3. Tom Daschle, the third high-profile Obama nominee to bow out said he "inadvertently" forgot to pay $130,000 in taxes and $12,000 in interest.

4. And Timothy Gaither, Obama's pick for SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY, "forgot" to pay $34,000 in taxes and had a housekeeper who was an illegal immigrant. Oh, but he gets approved anyway.

What is it about the word "vetting" that Obama doesn't understand? What a joke.

Not to mention the fact that Rasmussen reports support for his pork-laden "stimulus" package among the American people is down to 42% and sinking like a rock. And Obama's approval rating has sunk from 69% on the day he took office to 55% since this obamanation was passed by the House. That's a 14% drop in just two weeks.

Good times!

Nancy Pelosi; "'500 MILLION AMERICANS LOSE JOBS EVERY MONTH"

And they called Bush dumb? This woman is dumber than a bag of hammers. But a genius by San Francisco standards.

What an Ob-barrassment.

@nana4g -- "I sincerely hope that President Obama take his heed that the American people... are in support of this stimulus bill."

According to Rasmussen, support for this pork-laden debacle among the American people is down to 42% and sinking like a rock. And Obama's approval rating on the economy has sunk from 69% on the day he took office to 54% since this obamanation was passed by the House. That's a 14% drop in just two weeks!

If this bill remains in its current form or anything close to it, I hope the Republicans are smart enough to step aside and let the Dems ram it through without a single supporting vote. Correction to my earlier post: Support for the "stimulus" package has NOT dropped to 42% among the American public.

According to Rasmussen, support for this pork-laden debacle is now down to 37% and sinking still like a rock. LOL.
