Do you think Obama wants the Republican Party and their policies to succeed? No, of course not. Limbaugh was simply making the same case from the Republican point of view. He doesn't want liberalism and/or socialism to succeed. Surprise, surprise.
His quote in context:
"I don't want this to work. So I'm thinking of replying to the guy, 'Okay, I'll send you a response, but I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails.' (interruption) What are you laughing at? See, here's the point. Everybody thinks it's outrageous to say. Look, even my staff, 'Oh, you can't do that.' Why not? Why is it any different, what's new, what is unfair about my saying I hope liberalism fails? Liberalism is our problem. Liberalism is what's gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here. Why do I want more of it? I don't care what the drive-by story is. I'd be honored if the drive-by media headlined me all day long: 'Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails.' Somebody's gotta say it. Were the liberals out there hoping Bush succeeded or were they out there trying to destroy him before he was even inaugurated? Why do we have to play by their rules?"
And later:
"My hope for Obama's policy failures is based solely on the fact that they won't work, they won't create permanent, good jobs"
His words were reduced to an "I Hope Obama Fails" soundbite and the left went rabid. What else is new?
One January 5, Obama told reporters at his transition office that his stimulus package will set a "new higher standard of accountability, transparency and oversight." And that, "We are going to ban all earmarks."
And Harry Reid has since reassured us all that, "There will be no earmarks in the stimulus. Nada. Zero. Zilch."
But Obama's “stimulus” plan contains a wish list that is 11,391 pork projects strong. And although many of these projects are laudable, they are NOT stimulus. They will NOT help the economy recover. Take a look at just a few of the pork projects that are in this bill:
$1 billion for Amtrak, the federal railroad that hasn't turned a profit in 40 years.
$2 billion for child-care subsidies.
$50 million for that great engine of job creation, the National Endowment for the Arts.
$400 million for global-warming research.
$2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects.
$650 million on top of the billions already doled out to pay for digital TV conversion coupons.
$50 million for a Las Vegas mob museum.
$2.5 million in hard-earned taxpayer money for a Hercules, California "Waterfront Duck Pond Park" and another $200,000 for a dog park.
$15 million for a Euless, Texas Midway Park Family Life Center, which, you'll be glad to note, includes both a senior center and aquatic facility.
$9.5 million for a Natchez, Mississippi sports complex "which would allow our city to host major regional and national sports tournaments."
$20 million to for Henderson, Nevada to help "develop a 60 acre multi-use sports field complex."
$15 million to Brigham City, Utah for a sports park.
$4 million foe Arlington, Texas to expand its tennis center.
$15 million to Miami, Florida for a "Moore Park Community Center, Tennis Center and Day Care" facility. Plus $3.6 million to build a covered basketball court and a new tennis court at Robert King High Park. And $94 million Orange Bowl parking.
$7.6 million to La Porte, Texas for a "Life Style Center."
$1 million to And Oakland, California for Fruitvale Latino Cultural and Performing Arts Center.
And all this is just scratching the surface.
According to the WSJ, only $30 billion, or less than 5% of the spending in the bill, is for fixing bridges or other highway projects. There's another $40 billion for broadband and electric grid development, airports and clean water projects that are arguably worthwhile priorities.
Golly, Joan, was President Obama lying to us when he said, “We are going to ban all earmarks.”? And is this what Harry Reid was talking about when he said, ""There will be no earmarks in the stimulus. Nada. Zero. Zilch."?
You!?! Want to be magnanimous!?! Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.
Sorry, but Mountain Dew just shot out my nose. Magnanimous, huh?
This from the venomous partisan who once called poor, old John McCain “hackneyed, condescending, repellent, grumpy, sarcastic, and an ass” all in one four-paragraph post?
You, who once called poor, old Rudy a “crony-promoting, bullying, megalomaniac serial adulterer."? Although, I must admit, I thought you were talking about Bill Clinton at first.
Yeah, LOL on being magnanimous -- just like Obama, Joan. Unfortunately, you aren’t fit to shine his shoes.
Wrong. Your reading comprehension skills leave much to be desired. As I said, there are 11,391 pork projects in this bill. My list just scratches the surface. And your justification for any of these projects is ridiculous. These should be state initiatives and are NOT Federal infrastructure projects. Maybe that's why Biden promised to add more infrastructure projects today. Child-care does not create jobs. Amtrak is a bailout, not a job creator. On and on. Do some reading.
Golly, what HUMONGOUS news. One idiot pundit insults another idiot pundit, who then basks in it. Why isn't this story on the front page of the New York Times?
