Gary Kamiya and Political Demagoguery

The Republicans brought up a similar resolution denouncing the Armenian genocide on purely moral grounds during the Clinton presidency. Clinton, however, called House Speaker Denny Hastert and asked him to shelve the resolution, citing the fact that we needed to maintain the right to fly over Turkish airspace as a matter of national security. Despite the fact that we weren't at war at the time, Hastert complied.

But now we ARE at war, Mr. Kamiya. And American lives ARE at stake. Are you actually asking us to believe that the Democratic Party's timing in resurrecting this resolution and bringing it to the floor is mere coincidence? Because I doubt your readers are really that stupid. Unfortunately, the motives of the Democratic Party in this matter are purely political and audaciously irresponsible, designed solely to throw a monkey wrench into our relationship with a country that's absolutely pivotal to our success in Iraq.

As Thomas Sowell points out today at Real Clear Politics:

"It is hard to avoid the conclusion that this resolution is just the latest in a series of Congressional efforts to sabotage the conduct of that war.

"Large numbers of American troops and vast amounts of military equipment go to Iraq through Turkey, one of the few nations in the Islamic Middle East that has long been an American ally.

"Turkey has also thus far refrained from retaliating against guerrilla attacks from the Kurdish regions of Iraq onto Turkish soil. But the Turks could retaliate big time if they chose.

"There are more Turkish troops on the border of Iraq than there are American troops within Iraq.

"Turkey has already recalled its ambassador from Washington to show its displeasure over Congress' raising this issue. The Turks may or may not stop at that."

Mr. Kamiya's tediously overwritten article it as transparent as the motives of the Democratic Party itself. In fact, it would be laughable if American lives weren't at stake.

Let's be clear, bringing forth a Congressional resolution denouncing the Armenian genocide IS a moral duty that SHOULD have its day, but certainly not now, for the sake of political demagoguery, in the middle of the Iraq War.

Anyone interest in a rational take on this subject can read Thomas Sowell's "Sabotage in Wartime" in its entirety today at realclearpolitic.com

Losing his marbles? Pah-leeze, Joan.

Once again Hillary Clinton's Media Matters operation has taken Rush Limbaugh out of context. As Anonymous tried to explain in his previous post, Limbaugh was referring to a "journalist" who was trying to do a hatchet job on him. Limbaugh stepped up and barked at him and the "journalist" ultimately gave him a fairer shake then he normally would have. The point being -- if you're a journalist out to do a hatchet job, you'd better be sure there are no skeletons in your OWN closet first. Not so amazingly, this non-story comes to us from Media Matters right on the heels of their "phony soldier" non-story.

As for Limbaugh, losing his marbles, I truly doubt it. Because this week, he's repurposed the letter Harry Reid and 40 other democrats sent his boss at Clear Channel, denouncing the "phony soldier" fantasy. And for a man "losing his marbles," he's done it with creative precision. You see, he's put the letter up for auction on ebay. The latest bid is $55,600. Friday afternoon, the final bid will be in and the money raised will be donated to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation, which provides college scholarships for the children of Marines and law enforcement officials killed in action. Limbaugh will also match the final bid with his own money before making the donation. He's also invited Harry Reid and the 40 democratic senators who wasted taxpayer time and money signing the letter in the first place to match the final bid. But I doubt he'll be hearing from the likes of them. They're probably too busy glued to Hillary Clinton's Media Matters, so they can get the next story wrong, too.

So let's see, that's Rush Limbaugh - 2, Hillary Clinton's Media Matters - 0.

Losing his marbles? Hardly.

Randi Rhodes wasn't mugged, tomreedtoon!

tomreedtoon -

You, Ninny, "poor" Randi Rhodes wasn't mugged. She was lying. The police now say her claims are bogus. Even her laywer now denies it ever happened.

Which reminds me, I seem to recall a New York TV talk show lunatic named Morton Downey Jr. claiming he was beat up by right wing neo-Nazis in a public restroom. Only problem was that the swastika "they" had drawn on his face was drawn in reverse, meaning he drew it on himself in the mirror. Police quickly deduced he had actually beaten himself up for the publicity. That was the end of Morton Downey Jr.

So, Randi, please, tell us once again what happened? You've been awfully quiet since your pal Jon Elliot hit the airwaves and demanded to know, “Is this an attempt by the right wing hate machine to silence one of our own. Are we threatening them? Are they afraid that we’re winning? Are they trying to silence intimidate us?”

You can relax now, Jon. And so can the rest of the lunatic left. Because the answer to all four of Mr. Elliot's questions is no. But I'm sure you already know that. Because Randi was lying about being mugged.

Citizen X / Randi Rhodes

Hey, you're right! She WAS mugged! By 14 Bloody Marys! What a class act! Guess we can still charge her dog with a hate crime.
