Joan takes McCain's "The fundamentals of the economy are strong" comment out of context.

Just like the rest of the in-the-tank-for-Obama MSM.

McCain's full quote was, "You know that there's been tremendous turmoil in our financial markets and Wall St. And it is -- people are frightened by these events. Our economy, I think still -- the fundamentals of our economy are strong. But these are very, very difficult times." He added: "The McCain-Palin administration will replace an outdated, patchwork quilt of regulatory oversight and bring transparency and accountability to Wall Street. We will have transparency and accountability and we will reform the regulatory bodies of government."

Of course, Obama, like Joan, immediately seized upon the opportunity to use the out-of-context quote to misinform. In Obama's case, it was featured in a TV commercial. And yet Joan still sees fit to tell us that, "this weekend he (McCain) began getting beaten up about his dishonest campaign." Dishonest campaign, Joan? You mean dishonest like the one Obama is running, right? Perhaps Obama will soon be reprising his TV commercial about McCain's out-of-context "hundred years war" comment -- the one that got a great big Pinnochio rating from The Washington Post.

Right back at ya, Joan.

My God, Joan, you remember my very first letter -- going all the way back to August 23, 2007! Now THAT is sweet. And you even took the time to steer reader's to it. Wow, have I really been in your head all this time? I thought you said you didn't read folks like me. Which I assume means people who call you on things like bias, guilt by association, taking things out of context, etc.

Anyway, you failed to tell readers what I was responding to in that very first letter back on August 23, 2007. So I will. I was reponding to an article you wrote that trashed Rudy for spending more time at Yankee games than at Ground Zero after 9/11. And you deserved it. Because in a subsequent post, I explained to you that any serious baseball fan (and you claim to be one) knows how critical the Yankees were to the healing process in the Big Apple after the tragic attack. In fact, HBO did an excellent documentary on that very subject called "Nine Innings from Ground Zero." And THAT's why Giuliani spent so much time in BOTH places. You were wrong to trash him.

How that response makes me a "republican partisan," I really don't know. As for your question, "Does anyone else remember when virtue001 was an Obama fan and Hillary detractor?" -- Well, you're half right. I was a Hillary detractor indeed. I loathed her and took every opportunity to put her down -- although I made sure I backed it up with facts. But I was never an Obama fan. And since you seem to be fond of reading my old posts, you can go back and see for yourself.

And BTW, I seem to remember you doing the very same thing, Joan. Only you were writing on behalf of Hillary and putting down Obama -- in a not-so-subtle fashion. I'm sure your readers both remember and agree. So does that make us both "trolls"?

I think not.

Nice to know I'm in your head. And without even calling you dogface! Cheers.

Joan on Obama's "economic clean-up plan"

"He's (Obama's) the person with a real plan for cleaning up the mess -- he outlined new strategies for regulation, accountability and transparency in a speech last March." -- Joan

Back in March? Really? You mean The One actually foresaw what has transpired these last two weeks six months ago?!!! Wow, he must REALLY be divine.

But why is it that Reuters reported today that Obama "said he would hold off from presenting his own economic recovery plan."

Sounds more like Obama is voting "present" for the 131st time.

Oh, great -- Another hachet job on Palin

Don't you realize that trashy articles like this will never persuade anyone other than those already committed to Obama, David? In fact, they'll only achieve the opposite effect -- galvinizing the right.

What Bill Clinton says about Governor Palin:

(CNN) — Bill Clinton said Monday the Democratic ticket should steer clear of launching personal attacks on Sarah Palin over her relatively thin resume, and instead acknowledge she was a "good choice" for the No. 2 spot on the GOP ticket.

"Why say, ever, anything bad about a person? Why don't we like them and celebrate them and be happy for her elevation to the ticket? And just say that she was a good choice for him and we disagree with them?" said Clinton, who faced repeated charges during the primary season he was overly negative toward Obama on the campaign trail.

Clinton's comments appear to echo advice Karl Rove gave to Barack Obama in his regular Wall Street Journal column last week, when the former Bush strategist noted attacking the VP candidate has rarely proven to be an effective strategy.

In one of the former president's few extended comments to date on Palin's surprise VP candidacy, Clinton also told reporters in New York Monday he knows why the Alaska governor is attracting massive crowds on the campaign trail.

"I come from Arkansas, I get why she's hot out there," Clinton told reporters in New York, according to the Associated Press. "Why she's doing well."

"People look at her, and they say, 'All those kids. Something that happens in everybody's family I'm glad she loves her daughter and she's not ashamed of her. Glad that girl's going around with her boyfriend. Glad they're going to get married,'" he said.

Referencing Palin's 5-month old child who has Down Syndrome, Clinton also said voters will think, "I like that little Down syndrome kid — one of them lives down the street, they're wonderful children.”

Earlier Monday, Clinton suggested his wife, Sen. Hillary Clinton, would have been a better political choice for the Democratic VP spot than Joe Biden.

“She would have been the best politically, at least in the short run, because of her enormous support of the country,“ he said on the daytime talk show The View.
