Are you TRYING to be an idiot, Stephanie Zacharek?
[Read the article: Too great to be good]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]DD Lewis isn't "taken with himself." Where does a thought like that even come from? He's always ducked the limelight and is almost impossible to get an interview with. Needless to say, he certainly wouldn't be caught dead with the likes of you. DD Lewis is an accomplished actor, who has disappeared into every role he's ever played. You don't recognize him from film to film. He's one of the finest actors of our time. And if you don't know that, you really shouldn't be writing a column.
Are you over 21? Or were you drinking when you wrote this?

Hillary quibbles over Obama's borrowed words by calling a press conference.
[Read the article: Obama's borrowed words]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Maybe the next time Hillary goes before the cameras on the subject of Obama, she might consider doing what other candidates who lose primaries do -- congratulate the winner. Because after her double-digit loss in Wisconsin, when the networks cut to her for her concession speech, the Hildabeast seized upon the media's tradition of televising the runner-up's congratulatory address to bait-and-switch them into covering another attack against Obama instead. In fact, she never once mentioned the Wisconsin results. The networks finally had to drop her in order to give airtime to the night’s overwhelming victor. Such class. And yet she just can't seem to figure out why people don't like her. Except for Joan, of course.

@ Slackie Onassis -- Why? I'll tell you why.
[Read the article: Obama's borrowed words]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Why don't pro-Clinton writers just out themselves and admit that they're in favor of Clinton (especially since their choice in candidates is so apparent in their writing)?"
Here's why, Slackie:
They don't "out" themselves because they're cut from the very same cloth as Hillary herself. Or Bill, for that matter. Meaning they parse, they triangulate, they keep their options open and their finger in the air -- so that if Obama ever DOES get the nomination, they can just hop aboard the bandwagon and pretend they were part of the Obama phenomenon all along.

Didn't Hillary borrow her own name?
[Read the article: Obama's borrowed words]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Didn't Hillary borrow her name from Sir Edmund Hillary -- the first mountaineer to reach the summit of Mt. Everest? Why yes indeedy -- at least that's exactly what she used to tell all her constituents. I believe she first met her namesake when she was traveling through Nepal in 1995. It was on that occasion that Hillary, always looking to milk the moment, proudly announced that her mother had named her after him.
But then reality came crashing down and we all found out that Sir Edmund reached the summit in 1953. And, er, well, Hillary was born in 1947... making it rather difficult for her to be named AFTER him. But that's okay. Hillary just cackled and said her mother must have been telling "stories." Isn't that special -- throwing your mother under the bus when caught in a lie.
And your problem with Obama is what, Joan?

Joan: "I thought Clinton won on points"
[Read the article: A few debate thoughts]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Well, surprise, surprise. Hillary, as viewed through Joan's rose-colored glasses.

@ The Notorious W.E.S. -- On those naughty Clintons.
[Read the article: A few debate thoughts]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"After last night, the Obama camp can put away the 'OH MY GOD THE CLINTON SCUMBAGS ARE GOING TO DESTROY THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.'"
Gosh, either you really underestimate Billary or you're really naive. As I type this response, the Clinton machine is busy trying to steal pledged delegates away from Obama. Not superdelegates -- we already knew they were working on that. But PLEDGED delegates. So when Hillary smiles and says how "thrilled" she is to be on stage with Barack Obama, trust me, she is simply an exceptionally good liar. Billary will do ANYTHING to get this nomination, including splinter the party.

@ eeave1 -- "HRC's stirring final speech."
[Read the article: A few debate thoughts]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Stirring? (insert big yawn here) Z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z.

@ pricilla -- Obama's "Arrogance" last night.
[Read the article: A few debate thoughts]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Anyone who didn't see this in Obama "not just last night" but throughout the campaign has 'tasted the koolaid."
Well, I'm anyone. And I didn't see it last night. Nor have I seen it throughout his campaign. And, I assure you, I'm not a fan of Kool-Aid.
However, I DID notice Hillary's arrogance as long ago as last year, when she told Katie Couric, "I will be the Democratic nominee."
How presumptuous (and arrogant) of her to write off the other candidates so early. And how embarrassing now. My, how the mighty hath fallen. (Whoops, I didn't mean to plagiarize).
PS: It's spelt Kool-Aid. And the expression is "(He or she) drank the Kool-Aid" -- not "tasted" it.

@ The Notorious W.E.S. -- It's not about fear.
[Read the article: A few debate thoughts]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"...we have determined one thing -- The white mans fear of the black man is less than his fear of an intelligent, powerful woman."
I respectfully disagree. As a white man, I think it comes down to who I'd rather have a beer and shoot the breeze with. And it sure as hell isn't Hillary.
-
@ pricilla -- Beer
[Read the article: A few debate thoughts]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]My dear Pricilla, obviously you have no sense of humor. Few who support Hillary do.
-
@ Mikes Pace -- I know, I know
[Read the article: A few debate thoughts]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]She's just so nineties. The pants suit. The caterwauling. The unguided missile of a husband. The scandals. The baggage. Oy vey. Enough already.

@ The Notorious W.E.S. -- Is she through?
[Read the article: A few debate thoughts]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Like I said, you think if she doesn't get the nomination this time she is through? She's a fighter."
I agree with you that she's a fighter. And this is her big fight. I honestly think you'll have drag her kicking and screaming from the convention to get rid of her. And she'll have no qualms about splintering the party to steal the vote from Obama.
But if she DOES lose here and now...
As far a being baa-aaack in 2012 or 2016 goes, I'd have to disagree with you. The Democratic Party is strange that way. Unlike the Republicans, who seem to reward their former presidential losers by letting them have another crack at it (Nixon and Reagan, for example), Democratics seem to cast their losers out and say never again (a long list here, ending with Kerry). So, no, even though she's a fighter, I think this will be her last bid for the presidency.
