Original article: The buck stops where?

Clinton's Airstrikes and Bush criticizing this

In Joan's blog she wrote about Bush warning against nation building and criticizing Clinton's interventionist policies including these: strikes against Saddam Hussein in Iraq or Osama bin Laden in Sudan.

I am no fan of Clinton's but, it seems funny in retrospect to see how the rightwing went after Clinton for these things and yet supported Bush's illegal invasion of Iraq and hanging Saddam.

Went after Clinton for trying to get Bin Laden and thought him obsessed but, then oops. 9-11. Then the rightwing supports torture, never ending wars in the middle east to go after those like bin laden, and all the horrors of the last several years by the Bushies.

Hindsight.

If Clinton did kill bin laden what would the rightwing have said back then....and consider what bin laden did do to us a few years later and how Bush and co. reacted afterwards.

I Have Thought Many Times These People Should be Ignored

Why we and the press and everyone else doesn't just ignore these type of people and their outrageous claims is beyond me.

The whole Muslim thing should have been ignored early on as well as the PUMAs.

Giving these people any attention is giving them exactly what they want and are looking for: Attention, 15 minutes of fame, the spotlight, ect.

They way to deal with them is to ignore them.

I never understood the biggest car (or SUV) love.

Maybe because I am a 5'2" woman, I never understood the worship of huge cars and the status symbol SUVs.

For one, even if gas is a buck a gallon, I just have better things to do with my money then plop it in a gas tank. There are much better things I could with it. Besides, I never felt that oil would be an endless spigot and The pollution was awful from these monsters.

Long before environmental awareness and cost of gas rising, I was the out of fashion one. a little car geek.

My love of all time was a Jetta and I cried when it died after a long life.

When I looked for another car the salesmen would look at me like I was nuts because I was always asking what the gas Mileage was for a car (this was in 2004). Ended up with a VWBug.

Krugman is right about progressives

Progressives need to make sure that the rightwing doesn't distort the causes of this disaster and why.

It needs to be made know to future generations that the ideology was the cause and it was conservative ideology.

I am hoping that economists like Krugman keep making appearances on the cable news programs and everywhere to explain what is going on and that it will get much worse. People need to understand that instant gratification is not going to be the case here. it's going to be painful.

Boredom and need for Conflict

Is what is driving the narrative now. They want a juicy scandal or something and they know they won't get it with Obama. But, they also know in politics all politicians know at least a few rascals and so, this is where they look for their drama.

The media is also use to taking their stories and ideas from Republican talking points and rolling over for them.

They played lapdog to Bush since 1999 and dont' know how to think any other way.

As for Planner, I think if you ignore his paranoid ramblings he will get tired and go away or at least try to post things that are based in reality.

Schuster was out of line yesterday

Joan, I saw you on 1600 Penn. Ave and thought David Schuster was way out of line. Alot of journalists have been this week.

One reason is that they are using their own reasoning rather then research to answer their own questions.

Because they will not do research they don't understand that Blago doesn't talk to anyone. He has his little circle and refuses to talk to people. He has not talked to Pat Quinn for a year and half and probably has not talked to Obama for that long or better.

When Jessie jr. says he has not talked to Blago for 4 years - believe him.

Blago rarely is in Springfield, staying in his house all the time.

People in the beltway don't understand this is not a normal governor with working relationships.

Corker is an interesting case.

I see him as more of a business republican in the old school mode. He would do this for business reasons and doesn't strike me as one of those southern senators who wallow in ideology.

The others, while doing this for their states and seeing them as more important the good of the country, are also ones who are hard core ideologs.

This will play well at home south of the mason dixon line but, it will destroy the party elsewhere.

The republicans just solidified themselves as a regional party.

These Southern Senators did not think of something

How are these foreign car companies going to stay in business and make cars when most in this country cannot afford to buy a car.

You don't just put 3 million out of work in the car industry but, the small businesses and stores and dinners, ect., that depend on people spending money.

With all those jobs gone on top of the car industry ones, people will not be buying the cars made in the south either!
