Joan,
Your apologist stance on Hillary is getting old. You are so typical of the old media thinking with it's tired conventional wisdom that is a joke.
You need to ask why your Hillary cannot win against Obama. He came into the state 25 points behind and yesterday Hillary only won by 9%.
Why is that?
Obama came off a rough month and yet she still lost her large lead.
Explain to me why that is.
And why can't Hillary win the states bording Illinois since you wonder why Obama cannot win the states by NY.
And while we are at it, Joan, why did Hillary lose the delegates count yesterday with her 'big win'
I live in the midwest and what this lastest brohaha by the media mostly points to is who really is out of touch.
While Obama knows full well how we feel because he has seen it in his state of Illinois where so many jobs here have gone to Mexico and China, the press thinks the way to address this is to tiptoe around the issue or ignore it.
Obama, essentially is getting slammed by the traditional media for telling the truth of how we feel.
McCain and Clinton are as out of touch as the msm. They put us in this stereotypical view and pretend we are not angry. Resentful. And Bitter. They play the same old political games rather than take the opportunity to realistically discuss this issue.
And the talking heads, NY Times, ect. lambast and dither over how Obama 'insulted' us and will be destroyed by big bad republicans.
The media, McCain, republicans and Clinton are stuck in the 90s with their old school politics.
And all of these are confounded because obama is not taking a hit by the voters.
Maybe it's because he is right and we appreciate his talking to us like adults and not pandering and pretending to go duck hunting and downing shots with the boys in some tavern.
Ramesses, You probably put it best. The older women who think Hillary will be the vessel that makes up for all their unfullfilled dreams.
That once Hillary is president all will change and they will be appreciated.
The funny thing is that everyone - male and female - feel unappreciated and taken for granted. It is called life.
They need to learn that this is not new or different and that to find fullfillment they need to look to themselves and not some symbol.
Their lives will not change if Hillary is president. She will continue the same old style ways of Washington as has been done for the past 20 years.
She is basically a typical pol of the old school.
And those that think Obama cannot win the general because of the big bad republicans I present this. If Obama can do what the republicans could not - beat the Clintons - then, maybe he is the stronger candidate. He has beaten the Clintons and their attacks and turned it against them. He has derailed their machine and left them flustered.
And if he can beat the Clintons, I think the republicans are not going to be so bad. Afterall, they are so predictable.
I am a 50 year old woman who has bashed Hillary. I find her supporters whining poor me and Hillary playing the victim an embarrassment for women. They don't want equal treatment. They want her to get kid glove special treatment and it's demeaning to what feminism is suppose to be about.
Hillary chose to play in the presidential race. It's a rough and tumble game. She knows this and plays in it with glee. But, she also knows how to play her supporters who don't understand that all is fair and shots, criticism and whatever you can use is part of it. She knows her supporters don't seem to understand this and that they will cry foul when in fact nothing has been done out of the ordinary or what is not done to men.
She milks their outrage for advantage. But, they think it's unfair she has to be treated equally and like any man running.
They also don't seem to be so shy when it comes to bashing Obama. The most outrageous and nasty comments come from her supporters towards her rival.
I can only imagine the horror of a Thacher or Merkel if their supporters behaved the way Hillary's did. Nor would any woman leader, including Pelosi, stoop to playing the poor victim like Hillary does.
Until women like Hillary's supporters learn to chill out and understand the process, women will never gain higher office. Their behavior has set women back. The crying and wailing about it all being unfair when Hillary is treated like just one of the candidates is holding us back from being taken seriously.
Why do all these people complain that Obama doesn't have enough Washington experience to be president.
The logic is so off in this.
Barack Obama spent 8 years in the State Senate which is pretty much similar to spending 8 years as a governor.
Bill was governor of a small state. How is this any better than being a senator in a huge state like Illinois. You deal with issues of the country and the issues involving the state.
To demean it as unimportant then, you would have to dismiss all governors as well.
