Original article: After OCD: What next?

Whatever you do, don't teach.

If the LW wants a career that won't put additional stress on her, why are so many commenters suggesting teaching? Could not make a worse choice.

Why not just take some classes, do a little volunteer work, take up a hobby? There's no rush to find any big "mission". Who knows? Maybe gardening or dog training or speech therapy--there's zillions of choices.

Original article: Diablo Cody, overexposed

Stunt + blog = book deal

Cody became a stripper to get a book deal. She wasn't some sex-worker savant. Her sex booth work was a stunt, just like the people who didn't buy anything made in China or Julie Powell or a million other blogger/writers. What's the BFD?

Join me in the chorus:

Baby you understand me now

If sometimes you see Im mad

Doncha know that no one alive can always be an angel?

When everything goes wrong you see some bad

Well Im just a soul whose intentions are good

Oh lord, please dont let me be misunderstood

Ya know sometimes baby Im so carefree

With a joy thats hard to hide

Then sometimes it seems again that all I have is worry

And then you burn to see my other side

But Im just a soul whose intentions are good

Oh lord, please dont let me be misunderstood

If I seem edgy

I want you to know

I never meant to take it out on you

Life has its problems

And I get more than my share

But thats me one thing I never mean to do

Cos I love you

Oh baby

Im just human

Dont you know I have faults like anyone?

Sometimes I find myself alone regretting

Some little fooling thing

Some simple thing that Ive done

Im just a soul whose intentions are good

Oh lord, please dont let me be misunderstood

I try so hard

So don't let me be misunderstood

So, did the LW loan him money?

Welcome to politics.

"Anybody shocked by nasty GOP attacks on Obama must have forgotten what happened to the last president. "

"Anybody shocked by nasty GOP attacks on Obama must have been living under a rock for the last 50 years."

"Anybody shocked by nasty GOP attacks on Obama must have forgotten what happened to Grover Cleveland."

Welcome to politics.

Leave her alone!

She's been working for years. Let her enjoy her kids, her husband and her life.

Big Shoes to Fill

As Lolita Lebrón's granddaughter, Vilar has a big myth to live up to. I'd say that she chose to inflict violence upon herself, rather than the House of Representatives. Sad that she found a publisher to indulge her. (Her mother's suicide by jumping out of a speeding car is much the same, but she did that but once.)

Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire

Penelope Trunk defines "unreliable narrator". She's exaggerated, falsified, lied, and misrepresented so many things about her life, her work, her career, her start-ups, her success (and lack thereof), so why would anyone believe her on this subject? Her "miscarriage" is another woman's less dramatic heavy flow.

Trunk's a stranger to the truth

Wisconsin's state law is a 24 hour waiting period, and in July, the governor signed into law a duty to dispense the morning-after pill.

So where is Trunk getting the 3 week waiting period from? From her blog post

"For example, in Wisconsin, the only place to get abortion that is covered by insurance is at a Planned Parenthood clinic. There are 3 of them in all of Wisconsin. In Chicago, you can get an abortion at Planned Parenthood with less than 24 hours notice. In Wisconsin, there is a week and a half wait to get the first meeting and a week and half wait to get the abortion."

So, she's rich, why not get on a plane? Or just pay for it?

Original article: How do I become an adult?

Living in the moment, and the next and the next after that.

There's plenty of platitudes.

"Bloom where you're planted".

"Do what needs to be done".

I think the LW needs to just try a bunch of stuff--take a cheap cooking class, sing at a karaoke bar, learn to juggle, etc. Try something that you might fail at. Meet the Buddha on the road and trip him.

Get out of living in your head, and quit trying to be so goody-goody. Go line dancing instead of yoga. Don't volunteer at some approved-of charity, but help your neighbor with her trashcans. Clean up the beach.

Your job isn't forever and you are not your resume.

Watch Happy Go-Lucky. The main character is annoying, but she's living in the moment.

While you might need pills, you might just need to get the blood flowing. Get jazzed about something, no matter how dorky.

What a pain!

" We don't want to interact with neighbors in general"

And the LW wonders why people react in a negative way. All she had to to was ask which space was his. But that would be interaction, and that would violate her personal code.

Is this personal, Heather?

I know plenty of women who've worked for World of Wonder, and it's a good production company. What's with all the hate, Heather? This is a really mean-spirited review, and I can't figure out why she's so cranky about it. Sure, Anthrpologie might charge more than most people want to pay, but so? No one's using your tax dollars to buy the stuff.

And there's lots of catalogues that sell American artisan made crafts and such. Like Sundance, which has it's own channel.

I'm disgusted with Havrilesky's very unfair critique. Is it personal? Did she try to sell WoW a show and got turned down?
