Um, can we not give away punchlines in the title?

Thanks!

Thanks for the memories

I'm sad to hear another legend has passed. I too remember babylon, I think I was 13 when I first read it.

Brilliant man, sorely missed.

Recommend Max Fleischer Superman cartoons

Gotta agree with the list and add my newest favorite the Fleischer Superman cartoons.

The rotoscoped animation is much more natural than anything I have seen in modern times, the shows are short, the art deco designs beautiful and they capture what makes Superman such an enduring character.

The only problem is as you hit the later ones there are nasty images of the Japanese (funny that, what did they ever do?), but again that can be a discussion point or parents can just skip them.

Original article: Not so fast, Sen. Kennedy

Since when did NYS senate seats become a job plan for out of work presidential relatives?

How often do we New Yorkers have to hear that since our grandparents elected RFK we're now obliged to give our senate seat to any out of work presidential siblings, spouses or children who want it?

Daniel Patrick Moynihan's seat deserves better than (another) neophyte with no experience.

So if something is difficult we'd better scrap it?

Being a priest was never easy, and should not be. And yes, priests are human and sometimes fail.

The Catholic church should not lower its standards for priests because it is too hard for some.

What next? That 'love your enemy' thing is pretty rough too. Maybe you'd recommend the church back off that one, go with "vaguely tolerate your enemies until they turn their backs then wack 'em". That would be a much more realistic standard that more people could adhere to.

So?

"Steve Benen at Political Animal wonders, "Any chance state lawmakers, who don't care for Sanford anyway, may hold hearings and/or consider impeachment?"

Why? Is it illegal to take a vacation now?

Unless there's signs he broke the law who cares where he went, the only scandal is staff lying about it (or him lying to them about it).

Plays? They still make those?

Wow, who knew? :)

Seriously though:

"The two second-tier male writers got a lot more of their work produced, because in those meetings, where decisions got made, they were more assertive. Not obnoxiously pushy, but just a little more vocal, a little more willing to voice strong opinions. Meanwhile, the best playwright in my class, a fabulous young Hispanic woman who wrote with intelligence and wit and was just consistently smart and tough and real, she kind of shut down. "

Part of the problem may be that writers are too focused on their craft and not on the follow through. The greatest play ever written is nothing until it's produced.

If up and coming playwrights are not being taught how to push their material and get it to audiences then teachers are really failing their students.

A few 100 million people in India manage a vegetarian diet just fine

Like many of our most polarizing debates (abortion comes to mind as does captial punishment) it's a question of worldview.

If killing animals and eating their corpses is wrong then 'ethical farming' makes no difference.

And vegetarianism is not some luxery for the rich. It's a norm in many parts of South Asia that have never seen soy cheese.
