"Nor did he talk about the other two key issues"

Because there is no resolution to those "without which nothing" issues, Jerusalem and the Refugee question. That's what derailed Oslo, among other things, and that's what will derail any future settlement.

People are so invested in "peace" that they cannot see that there is no possibility of peace between the Jordan and the Sea short of literal Divine intervention. Obama's pretty words are doomed to failure.

There is another solution. Give up hope. What have we gotten from the Arab world in the past 800 years besides oil and revenge? Ignore the region, as they need to sell us oil as much as we need to buy it. Focus on conflicts such as the Turkish/Kurdish blood feud that nobody's ever tried to solve.

@Good Bye to all That

Nyah, nyah, can't kill us, can't get rid of us, can't get us out of Eretz Yisrael, including Judea and Samaria.

You now, you better run, we're coming for your foreskin...

Friday, June 5, 2009 06:59 AM

@Yasadon

I never denied that. However, it is completely irrelevant to my serious post above.

However, the Arab world has been in its Dark Ages since the Khan decimated the weakened empire. Seriously, list the accomplishments of the Arab world since then, that have improved the world. Seriously.

Friday, June 5, 2009 07:51 AM

@Yasadon

I sympathize with the Arab nation, to a point. But, it's been 800 years. 800. Almost a milennium. At some point, the Arab nations need to take responsibility for themselves. Blaming the Jews for their plight is worse than pointless in this regard.

Friday, June 5, 2009 09:02 AM

@Yasadon

Point taken. Ok.

Friday, June 5, 2009 02:36 PM

@SS

I can see that. Disinformation by, what's the Hebrew word, hazmata? If so, congrats on a job well done.

Whenever Time magazine puts a fad or a star on its cover

it/she/he is over. Law of nature.

Thanks Tracy

As the Dad of two girls who's have a really shitty Father's Day, you made me cry. Your Dad's very lucky to have such a good daughter.

Joe, Joe

I love your work, but please remember that Pharisees are all around you (they're known as Jews today) and that there is an Oral Tradition that explains and elucidates the Torah.

In other words, no Jewish court would put a non-Jew to death for adultery.

FYI

Special Friend?

Whaddya say?

I worked for Sirius

and I can tell you from the inside, that it is the ultimate example of a fantastic tool/toy, terrible business. It's never made money and all businesses, at some point, need to make money.

I think it's dead in a year.

Why do we allow hedge funds in the first place?

What societal good do they perform that is worth the risk they put the rest of us in? What horrible thing or service would disappear if they went away? The risk/reward ratio that society assumes on their behalf doesn't seem very good.

Bill, we welcome Righteous Converts

You're too nice to be a Republican. Let it go.

Being falsely accused of rape

is assault by the justice system. Often it leads to real rape, as innocent men are imprisoned and raped by real criminals.

What a poor article. "Rape is not sex." Sorry sweetie, but putting a penis inside of a mouth, vagina, or anus is indeed sex, it doesn't matter what the old-time feminist orthodoxy says.

@Silver River Canuck

When most people think of raw food, they think of plants, not animals. The Inuit's version of sashimi is an exception to the rule, not the nullification. Remember, this is not mathematics.

People do have free will and can live pretty much how they chose, but when the vast majority of cultures follow a particular norm, one or two discrepancies don't disprove the thesis.

I don't see why the vav

wouldn't be pronounced as a "v" instead of an "oo". Certainly not an "oh". My dikduk (Hebrew grammar) isn't as strong as it should be, but if I were to say "lightning and heights", I'm about 95% certain it would be "barak v'bama".

Anyways, these guys are like the people in Alabama would carved the "10 Commandments" in English on a rock and got 2 outright wrong. While I admired their faith, if not their laziness, this guy is just trying to continue the American tradition of right wing violence.

Glenn, I love that

you're not afraid of ambiguity and less-than-clear cut conclusions. Nice articles.

The lesson here people, is that s/he who owns the press is the one with freedom of the press. This is Not New nor News. The easy to define but hard to implement solution is to create a competitor. Until then, it is dumb to expect GE to act in anything other than its own interests.

Seems like Olberman improved on Bill Clinton's

definition of "is" (which I thought clever at the time). There was no "deal"; he was ordered to comply and for whatever reason, KO complied.

Again, the media owners distorting, censoring and lying to protect and advance their own selfish interests is older than our Republic. The problem is not with GE but with the fact that there are so few alternatives.

It's too bad that Air America was such an abysmal failure and that Al Gore's new channel doesn't seem to be making a huge splash, because as Liberace said, without the business, there's no show.

Flynn's a fascinating character

Why doesn't someone make a movie about him? The "un-Godfather", so to speak.

Wasn't she the pathetic Lt. Gov

of NYS at one time? For the pathetic Gov. Pataki, with whom she had a falling out with?

I believe she actually ran for NYS governor on the pathetic Liberal Party line.

Orgasm without ejaculation?

Sounds fantastic! Of course, it would have to be reversible.

And sperm has a tendency to seek escape (i.e., wet dreams).

But the inescapable, unavoidable fact is that the task of reproduction is completely asymmetric. There will never be symmetry, it is not a patriarchal construct, or any kind of construct, it is a law of nature.

Ain't gonna happen

Jerusalem and the Right of Return, not solvable without Divine intervention.

Sorry. Give up hope.

Tuesday, September 1, 2009 06:31 AM

Good for you

You really nailed it on this one.

The US

just can't handle losing.

Friday, September 11, 2009 06:40 AM

People don't like it when you criticize their religion

These people have too much invested for them to ever say "I was wrong". Greenspan was an amazing exception.

Friday, September 11, 2009 08:56 AM

Podhoretz

should learn how to read the Siddur from right to left before he spews crap again.

While I'm not in the "Peace Camp" (because I don't believe peace between the Jordan and the Sea is possible without Divine intervention), NP doesn't give our position any help at all.
