It always comes down to this

At the end of the day, the anti-circ nuts always come out of the closet. They are not concerned with an insignificant piece of flesh, they just want to bash Torah and Judaism. Always, whether from the left or the right. Fine.

Eshu, your faith is touching that you'll be more successful than Stalin. Actually though, the current trend, at least in Judaism, is that Torah-based Judaism is thriving, while the Reform, Conservative, etc. variations are winding up in the dustbin of history.

You want to rid the world of Torah, but it just won't happen. You'll be an old man, and Bris Milah will take place more often than when you were a young man.

Vanity of vanities, your monikker is Eshu...

Muslims circumcise their boys at 13

I expect that they will continue to do so, regardless of any law, even though 13 is below the age of consent.

Read my last post carefully. I was very careful to separate out "Jew" from "Judaism". I could fill a book detailing that statement, but this is not the place.

There's so much evil in the world, but you schmucks decide to concentrate your energy on a tiny piece of skin that nobody sane misses. To top it off, you will never succeed despite your constant self-assurances. Finally, while doing so, you place yourselves in the company of some of the worst tyrants the world has ever known.

You people are pathetic.

There is no point arguing

with me on this issue. You're right anonymous. There's no point in being anti-circ--it's going to continue whether you want it to or not. If it makes you feel alive to stoke that righteous indignation, if that frisson of anger gives you that tingly feeling that you imagine was cut off with my foreskin, then keep on keeping on I guess. But don't you want to spend your life pursuing something with an iota of a possibility of success?

I'm left wing because I want to be left alone to follow my lifestyle, and I don't want to force my lifestyle on others. It distresses me to see how the left can be the other side of the same coin as the right, which the anti-circ people clearly demonstrate. You see, if you ban male circumcision, then you ban Judaism. Any "Judaism" that claims male circumcision is not mandatory is not valid Judaism. That's just the way it is.

Oh, and Eshu, tateleh, if you're mother is Jewish, then you're Jewish according to Jewish Law, just like the Archbishop of France. There's no undo. Tough. Your opinions don't matter.

Finally, a correction. It was Antiochus who tried to outlaw Bris Milah, not Achashveros. Achashveros was the Persian King who tried to kill us all.

Go for it girl

Join the crowd Vicky. Achashverosh, Titus, Stalin, all tried to get rid of Bris Milah. Who's still around, going strong?

Only an idiot would seriously compare male and female circumcision in other than the most superficial terms.

Finally, Vicky, I doubt that you could tell me the Hebrew Alphabet, let alone tell the difference between the First Commandment and how to change a tire in Hebrew. You don't know the Bible at all, you have no idea what's in it.

The day we go around circumcising non-Jews against their wills, then you'll have a legitimate complaint. Till then, shut the fuck up.

The Greeks were like the Soviets

in they tried to get rid of Judaism by banning circumcision, among other things. After the oppressors were removed via guerilla war, a 30 year civil war followed and the Orthodox defeated the Reform.

Those "reasonable" Greeks logically derived that they should sacrifice children (see Oedipus Rex). I'll stick with my ritual genital mutilation, thank you very much.

Funny how tolerant the Left can be. It's hard to eat your own cooking.

Again anti-circ people, Jews and Muslims (any others?) are going to circumcise our boys, we'll make parties and be joyous, and if you don't like it, you can fuck yourselves.

And if you outlaw it, we'll go underground, just like in the good ole USSR.

Get over it. Find something else to obsess over.

As my father before me

and his father before him and so on, I entered the Covenant of Abraham when I was 8 days old. Thank G_d.

All you anti-circ lunatics, read up on the history of Chanukah.

Oy

I wonder what the definition of "fluent" is. First of all, Arabic is really several languages, all written with the same script (like Chinese). Do they know Iraqi, as opposed to Egyptian (the standard "dialect" taught) or Classical Arabic (which would be like learning Biblical Hebrew to speak to Israelis).

She was beautiful?

To whom? Not to me. It just seems like a given, but she was definitely not a looker (to me, anyways).

The Jewish Perspective

is quite different. Rome was held to be Edom, i.e. Esau, Jacob's evil brother. It destroyed the Second Temple and massacred untold numbers of Jews. It was probably the standard of evil until Hitler.

The U.S., on the other hand, is known as haMalchus shel Chesed, the Kingdom of Kindness. Today the US is known as one of the greatest centers of Torah in history.

Actually, it was Cham

not Ham, who was the son of Noach, not Noah (ch = the German ch).

FYI.
