Democrats for Ron Paul?
[Read the article: The Ron Paul phenomenon]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]there is a huge range of angry moderates, independents, and libertarians who oppose the Iraq fiasco, the PATRIOT Act, and our empire of oil. These people would be more than willing to convert to the progressive cause, but their cultural and social mores have so completely inculcated in them the belief that Dems are weak and compromising that they won’t do it.
I'm a life-long Democrat, voting for Bill Clinton both times, and Gore in 2000. I don't worry about Democrats being weak or compromising.
But I vote for who I think is the best, regardless of party. That means that I will vote for Ron Paul over Hillary Clinton in a New York minute.
I know this makes me a "bad Democrat" and a whole lot of other nasty names, but if you spend your whole life worrying about what mean things people say about you, you've transform yourself into a perpetual victim.
I'd rather be able to vote for Bill Richardson or Barack Obama, but I don't think they'll be able to overtake Senator Clinton's lead.

On Senator Clinton and Gravel
[Read the article: The Ron Paul phenomenon]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Don’t let the M$M and early polls fool you into thinking Hillary is a done deal.
I don't trust the MSM on this, but I do trust InTrade. They're an advanced prediction market and they've got Clinton at 70+% chances of winning. If you think the odds for her aren't that high, you can bet against her and make some good money.
(Granted, maybe her backers are manipulating the market, because in either the "protection money" or "patronage" models of government graft, people want to back a winner quickly. Her contract has a pretty big market, though.)
Mike Gravel shares many sentiments that Paul does, and has taken stances about dismantling the IRS, decriminalizing marijuana, putting more power in the hands of citizens, and slashing the military budget. Where the hell are his supporters?
Gravel doesn't seem to have taken this Presidential campaign seriously. Go check out the list of donors to his campaign through the end of Q3, and be amazed at how tiny it is. You can read every single name, employer, and city in a minute or two.

@Worst.Pauliac.Troll.Ever.
[Read the article: The Ron Paul phenomenon]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yeah, see, I don't really care if you call me names. I'll vote against Hillary Clinton (and against Giuliani if that's the best the Republicans can do), and you'll just have to keep on thinking of mean things to say to me. Hopefully this keeps you busy.

his issues
[Read the article: Ron Paul distortions and smears]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]the gold standard
Is this supposed to be a bad thing? Seriously, I hear people flip out about it, but I never hear them say why.
abolishing government-financed education
whether labor unions would be allowed
These have already been debunked by others; thanks guys.
doing away with the IRS
Sounds dandy, but he's admitted he won't have much ability to make that happen as POTUS.
abolishing Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid
Dr. Paul has openly said that we cannot just get rid of Social Security, since lots of older people have paid into it and have come to expect their payments. However, he has said that younger people should be able to opt out of the system. This is exactly the way you responsibly disassemble a pyramid scheme.
and other libertarian concepts
Oh noes!

naming sources
[Read the article: Demand answers from Time magazine]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Namely, the fact that establishment media outlets eagerly protect their sources even when those sources feed them outright lies in order to manipulate them into printing a false story. In theory, journalists are not supposed to protect the identity of sources who do that, but they virtually always do.
Oh yeah, that reminds me: has Jason Leopold ever said who it was who absolutely guaranteed to him that Karl Rove had been indicted?

leopold
[Read the article: Demand answers from Time magazine]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Oh, yes, Klein's errors are much more important, because Time is presumably a professional journalistic source with an editorial board standing behind its reporters, and TruthOut is, well, caveat emptor.
I just couldn't resist poking Leopold with a stick again.
Hi, Jason! *waves*

Clinton regrets her attacks
[Read the article: A week of petty though typical attacks on Obama produced nothing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Clinton tried to deny making up the plagiarism attack.
Of course that was bunk.

(sorry if this is a dupe of the previous comments)

bi-partisan? Well, he does get Independents to vote for him.
[Read the article: A week of petty though typical attacks on Obama produced nothing]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]There's something about Obama that makes Independent voters really like him. I agree he's pretty far to the left, but there's obviously something that all those moderates see in him that they like.
Moderates and Indepedents also like McCain, even though he's pretty to the right on policy.
The thing is, it's not all about policies. It's also about "do I trust this guy?" And apparently moderates to trust McCain and Obama.
