Offshore Drilling
[Read the article: Gas prices and offshore drilling ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Let's see...the Saudi's pump about 9.45 billion barrels of oil a day and if we drill in Alaska and the continental shelf thsoe two areas will yield about 30 billion gallons? In my book that accounts for less than four days of drilling that the Saudi's already produce...less than a drop in the proverbial bucket! Like a lot of things that were supposed to improve with the help of this administration - too little and way, way too late!

Off Limits
[Read the article: Obama: "I think families are off limits"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]LIke most things that conservatives recount...they either embellish or withhold...Too bad...this would be such a great time for the candidates to run on the issues rather than the normal tripe meant to belittle or discredit an opponent.McCain, of all people, should be sensitive to these types of barbs because of his previous encounters with his now best friend GWB, a one time political adversary.

Women Scientists
[Read the article: Women and their "girl crushes"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The idea that all women scientist wear wire-rimmed glasses, braided hair and birkenstocks is ludicrous. Some of the most beautiful and stlish women are doctors and scientists...By defining "smart" women as also latently unattractive is the reason so many high school girls adapt vapid, I'm not smart attitudes and avoid the sciences and math. Come on Tracy, I expected better from Broadsheet!

Porn and Chicks
[Read the article: Women watch porn to please men?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Isn't it obvious that women are just like their male counterparts? The world really does possess healthy males who dislike porn just like that same world possess women who like porn regardless of whether or not it has a story line. It's like saying everyone has to practice the missionary position to achieve the ultimate orgasm. Pleeeze!

Dolphin Desire
[Read the article: My wife left me because the dolphins at Sea World gave me an erection]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]This is the funniest letter I have ever read....absolutely over the top. A hard-on that won;t go down for a smooth skinned dolphin? How erotic, how fantastical!

Offensive Jokes
[Read the article: The offensiveness of Bernie Mac]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Not to sound crass...but who cares? If you don't like Bernie Mac, then don't listen to him! There's a lot of comedians that I don't like but taking the time to point out how offensive they are to women, or blacks/minortites, or whomever seems to be such a waste of time.

"WTF"
[Read the article: "WTF" of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]"YGTBFKM!"

Aging
[Read the article: "Before I Forget"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Wouldn't be nice if the bodies of aging women, in film and real life, could produce such a reverential and respected description? Sometimes, I would guess always actually, there is beauty and sexuality to be found even in the aging.

Hook-Up Sex
[Read the article: In defense of casual sex]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Tracy...I'm so much older than you that there are at least three generations between us. Because I am a mother of two young women, one who just graduated from Vassar College, I am more than interested in trying to understand what young women feel about their relationships with men, themselves, sex and other women. So, I read your article with great interest and I walked away from the experience feeling as if I was a fish out of water.
I've been married for so many years that the years that I have been married is almost double your age. As I have aged and matured over the years, I managed to discover who I am and what makes me happy and I also learned how to be sexually alive despite my long-standing relationhsip. It is difficult for me not to think that your and other young women's experience with "hook-up" sex leaves a lot to be desired. I'd love to be able to talk to you about your experiences, that is the nature of your hook-ups, after you turn fifty but I'm certain that I'll be a non-living anachronism at that time. Tracy, I have learned that life is a series of events and if we, as people, are lucky we'll share some of those experiences with other people who respect and care for us. People from my generation, boomers or the "love peace and happiness generation" view and understand sex and making love as two distinct and not interchangable concepts or activities. I sincerely hope that the young women that I have raised and taught over the years invest themselves into their lives where they can experience meaningful and fulfilling relationships and that they also experience fulfilling sex lives. All of these things, just like your dedication to getting a college degree, requires an investment of your time, patience and diligence.
Good luck to you Tracy...somehow I feel that you have a lot of maturing to do.

If Only
[Read the article: What to make of the Edwards fiasco?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]When are we going to stop judging other people's lives dispassionately and publically? In the end it doesn't really matter why John Edwards had an affair. For the MSM to expose his so-called dirty laundry and to tarnish his golden boy image as husband, father and politician is reprehensible at best. Like the rest of us human beings John Edwards is simply a man and as such he has and will continue to make mistakes until his very life seeps from his pores.
It would be a blessing if Mr. and Mrs. Edwards could return their lives to the pre-revelation and the sordid speculations about said affiar. The question becomes what have we, as a scandal hungry public, gained from prying into and delighting in this couple's intimate, non-public affair? More importantly, what has the Edward's family gained while they struggle to deal with the coming reality of Elizabeth's death?
As a nation we have accepted that the MSM has failed us on issues of national security and yet we allow this same giant of power to annihilate and destroy people's lives just for profits because scandal sells. It's time that we re-examine what crosses the transom as "news" and the publics right to know becauser some issues really are private tragedies and should remain so.
First amendment rights be damned

Limbaugh on Edwards
[Read the article: "WTF" of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Why does any credible journalist take the time to report on anything that Limbaugh has to say? Coverage of his inanities just encourages him. Why not boycott him by not reporting on his views? Maybe he'll just slowly fade away.
