Endorsements
[Read the article: The battle of the literary endorsements]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]How did the endoresements from two black American literary icons come to mean anything about the current democratic politcal debate? Truthfully, not many people care what either Toni Morrison or Maya Angelou think about the candidates. For many Americans, black or white, the two women are too obscure both for their literary talents and/or their political acumen. Where's the article about who Tom Clancy, or Steven King endorse for the democratic or republican nod? Exactly! And that's where this article that largely judges the writing talent of the two women should have stayed.

Feminists - In the Day And Now
[Read the article: Feisty bloggers vs. old-school Steinem-ites!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]And therein lies a mega-problem with feminism no matter from which era. In order to be a part of the sisterhood, a woman has to wholly embrace the priorties of the feminists; whether those priorities influences a woman's right to choose a political candidate or decide to be at saty-at-home mom. Since when is this kind of thinking any different from male dominated control? The difference is non-existent!

Latinos versus American Blacks
[Read the article: Hillary Clinton, the first Latina in chief?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Living in Southern California, my exposure to both legal and illegal latin immigrants, is extensive. There is absolutely no way to deny the economic impact that Latinos have had on American blacks. When my family migrated from Ohio to Los Angeles in 1960, my father, a black man worked in construction. Today, it is almost impossible to ever see a black man working on a construction project. So, yes, there is a kind of tension that exists between blacks and latinos. But the sad fact is, for both races, that neither race can see the wisdom of coalescing with one another, to form a major hybrid voting block that could better the lives of both groups. Instead, underemployed or poor young black men and young latino men play out their 'hatred' for one another by killing each other on the streets that they'll never own.
I think Barack Obama has a greater stumbling block in acquiring the latin vote than the fact that Hillary appeals to the needs of poor latin women. It's something as elusive as why skin tones are so important to people who are supposed to be educated and live in a first world country!

Sex and Older American Women
[Read the article: Sex after 50? Mais oui!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Take heart my dear! I canpromise you that sex is alive and well in women over 50 in the states. We're just not as vocal as some other cultures.

The Desecration of Sex
[Read the article: The secret life of sperm]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I didn't think that the normal "act" of sex could be defiled. Well, I was wrong!

Optimism versus Pessimism
[Read the article: Don't be happy. Worry]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]OMG! I finally agree with one of your observations! Greed is what clearly fueled the mortgage boom and greed is also what is fueling the credit meltdown. Interest rates are low and credit restrictions are on the rise. The market can and should be rescued but the greed mongers want to earn even more money on the backs of the people they loaned money to by first repossessing their homes and then by selling their repossessed homes at a profit when the R/E market bounces back. Too bad that this is considered capitalism at its best. The truth is, it's just highway robbery dressed up to look legitimate.

Fraud
[Read the article: I feel like a fraud: I'm an unmarried marriage counselor!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I coulnd' call the lady a fraud because I haven't been privy to the type of advice that she offers her married clients. But...if on the other hand her advice creates more problems in her clients lives because of her lack of experience in long term committed realtioships - then the lady might consider a change. Once upon a time a very long time ago I sought therapy for problems that I was experiencing in my marriage. My young therapist, under thirty, thought that my problem was that I had been involved in a marriage of more than twenty-five years. My therapist thought that it was unnatural for people to be involved in long-term monogamous relationships. Needless to say, the young lady had never been in a relationship that lasted more than three years and her experience level in long term relationships was inadequate.
Ultimately, you have to judge the therapist by the advice that they offer.
