@Mona, re the ticking "issue"

Even Jack Bauer never had to defuse a ticking vagina.

They tick? So, that's why people look at me funny. . . .Pedinska and bystander, have you two had this issue?

Mine only ticks occasionally, but I've heard that goes with aging...

Ground Zero

How far from Ground Zero do you live, Sweetums. A-Mazing.

Well, Mr. Neocon shit, I lived very close to Ground Zero. My husband ran down the street away from the blast when Tower One went down. And I knew 6 folks who died. And waited with a whole group of people whose family members worked at the WTC, some of them got very bad news. So don't talk to me about who lived where.

Nothing justifies torture. It just means you're not man or woman enough to control your emotions.

I am Woman, Here Me Tick

But I effing messed it up by writing "here me." But heck, it is late, I'm tired, and this is when comments get off the rail.

I'm so far off the rails, I didn't notice until you brought it up. Maybe I was distracted by the ticking in my Depends....:)

Justice, the New American Style

Right. Khalid Sheikh Muhammad needs a good lawyer, and Glenn is just the guy.

Does anybody remember what he actually DID?

-- Elephantman

Because in America, only innocent people get good lawyers. (We have special people -- real Americans all -- who determine, pre-trial, who is innocent and who isn't, so no mistakes are made.)

Jelper's Hitler quote sounds like a poster here

Struggle is the father of all things. It is not by the principles of humanity that man lives or is able to preserve himself above the animal world, but solely by means of the most brutal struggle.

--Adolf Hitler

My, that sounds an awful lot like a poster here who keeps talking about how might makes right. Not surprising, really. Those who admire totalitarianism and the worship or power -- and their concomitant torture and lawlessness -- always sound alike. Across centuries and continents, they are all pretty much the same.

Yay for Lederman

Excellent news. A bit of hope to cling to.

Contra Mr. CrimesHaveBeenExaggerated, I think when it starts coming out what actually has been done, even those of us who think that Bush/Cheney are criminals will be shocked at the goings on. Sy Hersh says there are plenty of folks just itching to talk -- it will be interesting.

@ Scuzz re Silber

Arthur Silber's e-mail address is on the upper right portion of his page. He's quite responsive, if he's feeling healthy, which unfortunately isn't often.

@ Arne re "our soldiers"

Even if you assume he did what he is accused of, throwing a hand grenade at American soldiers who were in his country to fight a war, how is that a war crime?

Those were our soldiers. And they were in a country that we occupied.

I once suggested to a winger who was frothing about illegal aliens in the U.S., that perhaps the Afghans and the Iraqis considered U.S. personnel to be not only illegal aliens, but illegal aliens who shot at the native citizenry. He didn't get the point.

What most families want

Most families neither want nor need hundreds of terrorists seeking to kill Americans in their communities. We need to have a serious, careful, and realistic national discussion about the ramifications of closing Guantanamo Bay.”

How does that first sentence possibly jibe with the second sentence?

Although, I'd like to know which families DO want and need hundreds of terrorists killing Americans in their communities. Those people, I'd like to meet.

How stupid are these GOP congresscritters? (Not that some Dems are much smarter...)

Murderers' Rights

Did you know that some gol-durned wimps in the U.S. of A. want to give rights to MURDERERS?! Yup, it's true. Jess terrible. Why, we'uns could be kilt in our BEDS if those dirty appeasers had thur way.

What is wrong with these people?

I ask that, and then along comes Shooter, and I see exactly what is wrong with these people. They are either stone stupid, or liars. Shooter, dear, when George W. Bush is held in a small cell without access to anything, has to wear goggles and baffles to go outside, is flooded with freezing air and loud pop music night and day, is moved from cell to cell so he is unable to sleep, and is threatened with having his daughters and his wife raped unless he confesses to his sins, then we'll have moral equivalency between his treatment and that of "the terrorists!!!!@!"

Last I heard, Dubya was a free man, retiring to a multi-million dollar faux mansion in a recently whites only section of Dallas.

It's going to take some time

I think the Israeli war crimes in Gaza finally caused some eyes to open.

What we need is for more Americans to realize how much we pay -- in money and in blood -- for our blind support of Israel. With middle class folks becoming homeless (a formerly prosperous middle-aged friend of ours is moving in with us next week), I think the financial aspect may finally get to many Americans. If so, that is one silver lining of our economic crisis.

Only expanding the settlements

Even Netanyahu has said he would build no new settlements. So we're only talking about expanding existing ones. Settlement expansion is important to the people living in settlements because they have kids and open businesses

This is like the kidnapper explaining to the distraught parents: "No, I'm not going to kidnap any more of your children. I'm just going to keep this one, because the sex with her is so good. But I'll treat her real nice, promise."

Letter from an Israeli peace activisit

Jonathan Schwartz at A Tiny Revolution has a video letter to Obama from an Israeli woman that is a nice companion to the 60 Minutes segment:

And, if you scroll down on the Tiny Rev page, there are links to send a letter thanking the 60 Minutes producers for airing the segment.
