Comey's report not new

" ... Also, ... why did he wait almost three full years before disclosing it, and then do so only when compelled by the threat of a subpoena? ... Why did he not invoke the whistleblower channels to report this lawbreaking ..."

The attempt to get Ashcroft to sign off from his hospital bed, as an end run around Comey, WAS reported at the time. Don't remember where I read it, but likely it was on Antiwar.com. The report didn't have all the bells and whistles of Comey's testimony -- no race to the hospital, no call from the FBI to pre-empt Comey's eviction from the room, etc. -- but the basic facts were told, presumably by Comey himself. The lack of interest to those revelations at the time may have persuaded Comey not to stick his neck out any further.

OT -- Bush's new Executive Order establishing a post-disaster Unitary Executive

http://progressive.org/mag_wx051807

Issued on May 9 with no apparent reaction anywhere. Disasters include terrorist attacks as well as natural events, such as hurricanes and earthquakes. This certainly gives meaning to the consolidation of the National Guard under Der Bushenstein and the Halliburton contract for camps, dunnit?

Original article: The Islamic enemy within

Religion that subjugates women, denounces gays, etc.

Well PD, what do YOU think is the proper approach to a religion that

* Subjugates women

* Denounces gays

* encourages killing non-believers

* Desires genocide.

Are you talking about Jerry Falwellism or Pat Robertsonism?

Golden Boy

is a concern troll whose mission on the boards is to instill loathing of Muslims. He argues so softly, so persuasively, never gets mad or calls names, just the drip, drip, drip of "reasoned" argument.

He is an excellent propagandist and a very dangerous one, an internet Goebbels, with a similar goal, except in his era it's against Muslims rather than Jews. Demonization 'R Us. Beware.

Misinterpretation

He refuses to accept that he is misinterpreting the poll, and refuses to think about what his misinterpretations mean.

Prunes, I think you're wrong. Golden Boy doesn't care what the poll says or means, or whether or not he's misinterpreting it and you can show it. He has found something he can use to "prove" his hatred of Muslims and Islam, and he will keep using it until something else comes along. That's his motive and his goal, to demonize Muslims. He's not really here to argue, just to push his agenda, one way or the other. Whether he's acting alone, or whether he's being paid, is the interesting question.

Ignorance and GB

Terrorists such as the thousands who ran into the streets in Paterson and West Paterson NJ cheering as the World Trade Center burned and then even more ran out cheering as they fell..

Not true, speaking as someone who lives near West Paterson. You be fulla crap, KWIM? Far as I know, the only cheerers in NJ area that day were the Israeli movers, based out of Weehawken, who were on the waterfront in Jersey City, pumping their fists and cheering. A few days later, they closed up their moving business and disappeared. (See Antiwar.com archives and/or Fox News archives for info re same.)

And Golden Boy, where are you from? Certainly, not the U.S., judging from your choice of words. Do tell your nativity.

Grammar & GB

GB, it wasn't your grammar. Your English is very good. It's just that you used a word that, while we would understand it, would not likely be used by an American.

You have an agenda. I'd just like to know why.

South Paterson

there were a few people who did seem to be celebrating in SOUTH Paterson on 9/11

I was in Hoboken that morning, myself, but I didn't hear about the South Paterson thing, or at least in wasn't in the Hudson Co. papers that I read during those days. Haven't tried the halal burrito place, but I'm very fond of the spinach pies at Fattal's on Main St. :)

Trolls

GoldenBoy is a troll, that is his excuse. What excuse do you all have? Never address a troll directly. (Rule #1 of "Troll Club")

Shooter is a troll. David Sugarman is a troll. Nazbffflwhatever is a troll. They are easy either to ignore or to swat away, like flies.

Golden Boy is another matter. He's very good at what he does, which is to constantly poison the debate, to move the dialogue constantly, with the meme Muslims are horrible. He's polite (Muslims are barbaric), he's self deprecating (Muslims are terrorists), he has a sense of humor (Muslims are vicious), he's intelligent (Muslims are untrustworthy), he never bares his teeth or gets angry (Muslims are going to kill you), he's friendly (Muslims are subhuman), he's a reasonable fella (Muslims will rape your women) and he was AGAINST the Iraq war (Muslims will take all your good stuff and slit your baby's belly wide open).

Holly nailed him upthread, with the MEMRI connection.

Something kept niggling at me about him. Plausible deniability, MEMRI, jovial and likable (if you ignore what he's saying), fluent in the language but obviously spent a lot of time outside the U.S., self deprecating but inflated ego (Golden Boy? I mean, really...), constant demonization of Muslims.

He sounds a lot like Michael Ledeen's twin, doesn't he?

Typo

"baited breath" should be "bated" (as in breathing that has abated)

Great article. Yes!
