"Conservative women" as fabulous feminists? Get real! We aren't that stupid Camille. These "conservative women" are the same ones who would rather see us in back alleys with wire coathangers. These "conservative women" would hand all decisions regarding our personhood to a bunch of sex perverse old white men in Washington. For "pro-sex" punishment.
And yes, her relentless self-promotion and obligatory Madonna mention is so predictable it makes me nauseous. Almost as nauseous as her fawning adoration of that cartoon, Sean Hannity. Gack!

I said exactly the same thing to anyone who would listen. The perfect "out" for any Dem that was craven enough to vote in favor of the Iraq invasion was "I trusted our president, and that was a mistake". Not only would they have given relief to those of us who already knew this war was a colossal error (and wanted someone to say so), they would have given initial war supporters the "cover" they needed to scapegoat someone else (Bush) for their mental discomfort in figuring out they backed the wrong horse in the first place.
I thought it was a winning strategy for both sides, and would have allowed us to unite in getting the hell out of Iraq. "I trusted the President of the United States, and my trust was misplaced." Hell, I might almost have forgiven the idiots for voting for him myself (almost, but not quite).
I think it would have worked, but what the hell do I know?
And now, here we are. And here we will be - for a VERY long time.
My only consolation is my response to Bush supporters when they bitch about anything today:
"YOU VOTED FOR IT"
It absolutely sucks to be right and still be 100% screwed anyway.

I agree that working to change the political reality in SD is crucial, but to simply accept "majority rule" as it applies to the body of unique persons, is to deem them less than fully human. If your neighbor (in the majority) has more power over the fate of your body than you do, he OWNS your physical person.
The defense of a woman's unalienable right to her own body is to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority.
I ask you this: Are you comfortable allowing your neighbors to vote, in secret, as to how much control you have over your own body and destiny?
If that's okay with you, then I'm all for legislation that mandates living body tissue typing, mandatory organ donation and mandatory monthly blood & plasma donations. I bet you have some bone marrow that will save a precious life somewhere in your state, and if some legislator says he has dominion over my uterus in "the name of life", I can demonstrate an even more pressing need for access to your body - "in the name of life".

And after admitting to several extramarital affairs and then leaving his car-accident disabled wife for another, more pleasing model, I just don't see how he will win the "religious zealot" vote.
Not to mention, if the man would sell out his own freaking family (SC primary) to promote the political life of the man who would destroy them, how quick would he sell out the rest of America?
He would also be the oldest person ever elected, an interesting scenario in and of itself.
McLame is the same as he ever was, nothing new here.
Some people just have either no knowledge of historical fact, or the attention span of gnats.

She too has been suffering in an almost identical situation for the past 12 yrs, and feels she can't leave. Her husband has been so cruelly effective at brainwashing her into thinking she is less than nothing and could never survive on her own - much less ever find another man who would put up with her. Her self-esteem is zilch (obviously) and gets worse each passing day as he convinces her that she deserves to be treated as sub-human. Now, it is all she has ever known.
As a friend of almost 20 yrs, it absolutely kills me that I can do nothing to free her of this misogynistic sadist.
Her life sounds identical to the LW, but she has even less of a sex life - meaning none.
He is a cruel, sadistic prick and witholds affection as a method of control (along w/finances). He knew all her vulnerabilites and cultivated them over years just to screw with her head.
I'm starting to think situations like these exist way more than we realize.
