You do know what the term gobshite means -- that the persons gob (mouth) is full of shit - that their statements are ill informed and not based on fact. and this does not apply to you because . . .
You know, you come out with this bullshit and expect people to take you seriously. Everytime you post you achieve the remarkable -- making neocons and the Republicans look even dumber, less informed and of poorer judgment, which is pretty hard given how low the standard you start with is.

Actually, the United State's current unpopularity, the Europe, Asia and the Middle-East is a huge threat the US national security. Even the administration, by setting up a whole Satte Department section devoted to "Public Diplomacy" has come to recognise that.
Of course the Oxymoron believes that poking the rest of the world in the eye, being unpopular is the bast thing for US national security. Hmmm -- so far Oderint dum metuant (Let them hate us, so long as they fear us) has been a policy disaster -- but never mind, Oxymoron says keep digging and the US will get out of the hole Dubya and his dipshit collection of foreign policy advisors have dug so far.

Actually, many people do see the problems getting Turkey admitted as the fault of the US and especially the Bush administration, and this has been widely written about by commentators, many of whom are conservative. My experience of this was to ask a Neocon what he though about a European suggestion that Mexico simply be made the 51st state, or EU views in US immigration issues is that he though it was none of the EU's business -- but the gobshite (sorry RealName, gobshite usually also encompasses hypocricy) sees it as US business whether Turkey joins the EU.
It is the US, and especially its Neocons, that probably has done the most to damage Turkey's chances of admission. First, Turkey is a majority-Muslim state (shock to RealName -- you seem to be under the impression that somehow admitting Turkey and making the EU constitution a "Christian" document is consistent with Turkey (a Muslim secular states) membership) but Neocon gobshites keep stoking the question fo the number of Muslims in European Countries (not as many as RealName seems to think by the way.) This has in turned stoked the fears of European voters about letting in Turkey. Second, the Neocons somehow seem to have decided that it is the US that is the arbiter of admission to the EU and worse communicated that idea and expectation to Turkey . . . this has fundamentaly undermined the process in two ways, (a) by leading the Turks to believe that they were ready for membership and in any event this was a negotiation with the US-mostly, and (b) because views of the US and the Neocons in Europe are so deeply suspicious that their endorsement of Turkish accession is seen by the Europeans as an offer of a "poison chalice." It does not help that the unrelenting hostility of Neocons to the EU - as a project, concept or entity -- would lead any sensible observer to conclude that if they endorse the EU doing something, it cannot be good for Europe.
Oh and finally, the Europeans think the Neocons are a pack of dipshits and any thing they think is a good idea must be automatically bad. And while that may be an unreasoning reaction . . . looking at how often Neocon and Republican ideas recently have been either bad, awful or truly disastrous, it is probably a safe default viewpoint.
