Bravely posting anonymousely

U.S. forces are killing "hundreds of thousands" of "innocent civilians"? Really? Where, precisely. Where do you get your figures. Why has the world press not reported this?

Where? Why, a little country that was never of any threat to us. Seems it's called Iraq. I don't blame you for not knowing about it. I think they put it on the teevee at the same time as Hee Haw.

As for where I get my figures, here's something you must've missed too:

http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB116052896787288831-8l5AMVpCdg07M3w6XdmTXoPuzno_20061109.html?mod=tff_main_tff_top

And as for why the press doesn't report this, this is a story that most Westerns do not want to read about. It says that we collectively are responsible for a lot of deaths of people who didn't have it coming under any circumstances. That's a tough sell even for anti-war types like the majority of Americans.

Any more questions, or have you displayed enough ignorance for one day?

@bestofdyonisis

I watched your video. Pretty gruesome. I guess you're right: we need to kill every Middle Easterner, and tap every American's phone and email communication, so that the fate that met those 2 or 3 guys doesn't fall upon us all.

Similarly, I saw video footage of the Columbine massacre. From that, I conclude that every American must be killed, and every American's phone and email communication must be tapped, so the fate that met those 13 people doesn't fall upon us all.

In fact, since there were 13 dead at Columbine, but only 3 dead in your video, I did a quick bit of math and determined that Americans deserve to die 4 times for every single Middle Easterner.

Is that the point you were trying to make? Proof by anecdote is a logical fallacy, and it cuts both ways.

@Notorious

I have to say, your comments these days all seem like they were written by Shooter or Elephantman. But they support Bush and you support Hillary. What's the common denominator? You're all champions of causes that you see as losing, which you can't support using straightforward arguments, and thus you're reduced to throwing turds in swimming pools and then running away.

In all honesty, you make the best case on any of these pages why one should not vote for Clinton: it's more of the same, and she's supported by the intellectually dishonest.

How astonishingly vacuous!

I can't believe Brooks draws a salary for writing this kind of crap.

But I was completely unsurprised to see Notorious WES adopt Brooks' vacuousness for his equally vacuous hatred of All Things Obama. I just wonder: at some point, Clinton's supporters will be so indistinguishable from Republicans, will we reach a point where she starts competing against McCain for the GOP nomination?

This is absolutely what's going to happen

Do any others find it annoying when someone declares flatly: "If X happens, then Y will happen. Absolutely. For sure." Like "If (choose one: Hillary or Barak) wins the nomination, the general election is over, and John McCain has won."

First, anyone who makes a statement like this shows very little insight. Fact is, anything can happen. Up until midday in November 04, odds were still on Kerry winning. Same 4 years previous with Gore. For someone to say "I know exactly what's going to happen" is simply an expression of ignorance.

It's also an expression of fear. We live in uncertain times, which makes people anxious. To combat that anxiety, we sometimes indulge in this kind of false certainty. It's how we say "I feel so uncomfortable with uncertainty, that I'm going to manufacture a little bit right now."

You don't need to engage in logical arguments with these people.

If I ran the GOP

I would pull all funding for the 2008 presidential election, and start putting it towards causes where they have a chance of winning. I'd even consider letting Obama run unopposed, rather than provide what's going to be a humiliating spectacle come next November.

But I don't run the GOP, and given that, I look forward to that spectacle.

Some Advice

Dentists are unnecessary for most people. Many dentists seem to realize this too, and therefore try to inflate their work with the patients who do go.

Personally, I find using a good electric toothbrush and floss prevent me from sitting in that dreaded chair more than once every 4 years (mostly out of guilt and worry) only to be told my teeth are in great condition.

Great comic, but I'm just sayin...

I respect Buckley

I don't agree with all his opinions, but the ones that I've read were generally stated with honesty, an approach that is entirely extinct among today's so-called conservatives.

This one part of the obit I hope is prescient:

Buckley biggest achievement was revitalizing conservatism at a time when it had been marginalized in the United States for decades, since conservatives had opposed Roosevelt's New Deal and advocated isolationism before the U.S. entry into World War II.

If conservatives were marginalized for being on the wrong side regarding the New Deal and WW2, I sure hope they're marginalized for being on the wrong side of Iraq, the Constitution, and the general approach to terrorism.

In response to Holly Golightly's prediction that McCain will claim membership of Buckley's Revolution, Buckley's dead corpse is currently being cleaned up and dressed nicely, to appear as a campaign prop for the next 2 news cycles. Cue in 5-4-3...

Damn, you can really smell it!

The stench of desperation being put off by the most rabid Hillary supporters as they try to extract their candidate from history's dustbin.

Looks, guys, Hillary was a fine candidate, but the electorate looks poised to determine that Obama is better. Rather than make fools out of yourselves in your futile last-ditch effort, why not make peace with the inevitable and start thinking about how to defeat Bush III (formerly known as John McCain)?
