Yes, a lot of misconception...

I assume it is referring to Binyam Mohammed
revealing the classified information needed to properly address this lawsuit presumably would not only endanger our own national security, but threaten to unravel our international ties as well
none of us can know the full details about the cases in which it is invoked
I do suspect there's a good reason for it
I don't think Obama is doing these things without good reason

But ,b>whose?

on the call for a cæsura, if you will, on an escalating series of increasingly acrimonious axchanges of personal invective among and between the commenters at Salon Letters:

Gentlefolk:

"C" is for cookie, that's good enough for me. "C" is for cookie, that's good enough for me. "C" is for cookie, that's good enough for me. Oh! cookie, cookie, cookie starts with "C."

You first, compañero.

Solidarity forever

I really cannot see how you can not get it. It must be stupidity. Seriously, what other explanation is there?

Now there's a rallying cry bound to win over the masses: "Workers of the world unite! Cause if you don't, you're just a bunch of dumbfucks! How many times do I have to say this?"

Can't you just see it on a banner?

@widow13

For fuck's sake... This shit takes time.

It's got to be embarrassing when one makes it so obvious that one didn't read the post

critically, the primary excuse offered by Obama supporters for all of these actions -- he just needs more time; it's only been three weeks -- is a complete straw man.

...not even the parts that are both bolded and italicized.

@adnoto

For the millionth time, you don't have the first clue what I am talking about. For the millionth time you are literally incapable of understanding.

And for the nth time, if what you are really interested in doing is changing people's perspectives, you are doing it in the most counterproductive way possible. And as noted before, I don't think that's unintentional on your part.

I'm a non-voter in an Obama-mad district of an Obama-mad city. I had numerous conversations over the past year with friends who are Obama supporters and managed to discuss my reasons for boycotting the election without once calling anyone fearful or stupid. Amazing, but true.

You get the reaction you seek. Which is fine... it would just seem so much less dramatic if you'd just cop to it.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll go back to lurking before Glenn sees me talking to you. Because that's all I care about, obviously.

Something that may have an actual hope of making a difference.

I dunno. Voting for, say, McKinney seems to be a statistically-insignificant tie with hoping Obama has a come-to-Jeebus moment on continuing the global war.

If it's fear, it's the same fear that keeps me from buying GM stock, or sticking my dick in a blender. I think of it as avoidance of FAIL.

@GG in re: "universal jurisdiction"

I don't think I understand your reference to your 2006 post about the CCR lawsuit. Why is that relevant in this case... are you arguing that Italian courts shouldn't have jurisdiction over kidnappings that occurred on Italian soil?

Or is it just that I'm suffering from a caffeine underdose...?

@omooex

I never use this acronym unless I'm actually doing it, but LOL.

There is way too much...

..."dick" and "ass" in this thread.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

@bernbart

I been a long time progressive Democrat.

I promise you, this is not meant as an insult, but is English your second language?

It probably shouldn't matter, but I'd have an easier time overlooking your unique syntax if I had the sense you were thinking in a language different from the one you were writing.

@sniffy

Do you think we should always just assume the same level of bad faith on the part of the president whether he be George W. Bush or Barack Obama?

Why is "faith" even at issue here? I don't have good faith, bad faith, blind faith or Ginger Baker. I take the term "public servant" seriously, and you have to let the help know when they're doing something wrong.

rational vs. radical

how do you feel about those claiming that progressive who are being critical of Obama are radical, Marxist-inspired, reactionary, Far Leftist dangerous demagogues?I feel like I just threw up in my mouth a little:

They are going to have to be more willing to have a little faith in the Obama administration as it formulates and executes its policies. All the while, both rational and radical progressives (as well as independents) need to hold Obama accountable for his actions — this is not a demand that anyone become feckless sycophants.

http://roadkillrefugee.wordpress.com/2009/02/16/nate-silvers-rational-vs-radical-progressives/

I don't understand how people manage to hold both ideas in their head simultaneously. If criticizing someone is a sign of a disturbing lack of "faith," how do you hold that person "accountable?"

"Bush-inflicted PTSD." It is to urk.
