@NotOrbitBoy

Most politicians will waver in the face of a poll that tells them to do this, or do that. Why such a person is termed a "leader" is beyond me.

In this instance, the Dems flew in the face of multiple polls that indicated that their constituency actually wanted something entirely different. So by your standard, the D's showed real "leadership" on the FISA issue.

Your batting average, sadly, must still be represented using scientific notation...

@N.O.B.

Glenn is suggesting that the dems are not acting on principle, but are acting in their self-interest. They lack integrity.

None of us three have any disagreement on this point. There may, indeed, be more things in heaven and earth, NotOrbitBoy, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

@Jonathan

It may interest you to know that focusing on one thing doesn't prevent one from also paying attention to other important things - even acting on them.

See under walking, chewing gum.

"Who moved my yellowcake?"

I didn't say anything that wasn't factually correct.

I'm off to the store for aquavit and tomato juice. Anything I can pick up for you guys?

The fallacy of the excluded middle

Don't like our current arrangement? Go to the telecoms and tell them that cell phones should be banned and fiber optics shut down.

This is all really easier to take with an Aquavit Mary. The flavors blend so well the drink isn't terribly harsh, just pleasantly spicy.

@Derbig Mooser

You didn't just get that description from the website, no, you wouldn't do that. Cause that's what they said about it. How is it with the "snit"?

The beer takes the edge off the tomato flavor without smothering it, and blends well with the aquavit for a seriously tasty beverage.

Seriously, I am in Baltimore right now. I could no more get aquavit in this town than I could get Shooter to make an honest argument. I am drinking the best wine I could find (id est: not a screw top).

Pax vobiscum, dudes.

My work is done here

Shooter derailed, and everyone talking drink recipes. Tea gee eye eff, all y'all!

MEDICATED FOR SOCIETY'S PROTECTION

North and East, GC... to Boston, home of that good Sam Adams.

I may not find aquavit, but I know there'll be beer, so all is well.

Original article: Obama: "My plan for Iraq"

@kuhnigget

"Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia" is a common translation for the group's name Tanzim Qaidat Al-Jihad fi Bilad al-Rafidayn which refers to "the Country of the Two Rivers" rather than Iraq.

Just wanted to clear that up, and annoy omooex with my know-it-allness :-)

Electro Robot is back (albeit with a much funnier handle this time). Remember, you're not going to have a rational conversation, just agitation.

Whatever floats your boat, but it's like poking a hornet's nest IMHO...

@mcuddehe

on the one hand, a people who for the most part would like to live in peace but practice self-defense aggressively, and on the other hand with a people who consider the murder of civilians to be the work of heroes.

Jesus, generalize much?

There's a commenter here by the name of omooex who's actually lived in the Occupied Territories and might be able to respond substantively to your remarks.

For my own part, I tend to discount the opinion of anyone who wants to paint an entire culture as "depraved." Your f'ing mileage may vary.

And damn that Posh Spice

I'm sure our public officials will deal with this in a forthright and dynamic manner, to wit: feigned outrage and ridicule of the British.

Freedom Muffins, anyone?

@maxwell127

My Uncle Joe's mind snapped on Bataan. He lived the rest of a very long life deeply broken by what he experienced there, without a shadow of help from a society that just wanted to forget about the horrors of war in a rush to find new enemies to fight.

Even so, I fail to see how it dishonors his suffering and that of so many other "battling bastards of Bataan" to engage in a little good old all-American ironic exaggeration. *I* thought it was a funny comparison, anyway...

"your abut privacy"

Bernbart, well said.

I think it was in Federalist #97 where they wrote: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, really shouldn't be violated, but the government is too busy and incompetent anyway so it's kewl."
