Thank you to Dr. Burton for investigating this guy so thoroughly.
[Read the article: Brain scam]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]It's a typical tactic (especially in the USA) for people with a product to sell to use their publicity on one venue to leverage more publicity, which itself somehow morphs into legitimacy.
We are lucky to have journalists and whistle blowers (like Dr. Burton) that are willing to do the hard work to debunk scammers, no matter how powerful and popular these scammers become.
Religious leaders, cult leaders, and most of the genre of "change your life for the better" shills have been doing it for years to build up their followings. It's hard for the American public to realize that just because someone is on TV, or appears in a full page ad in a magazine, it doesn't make their product safe, functional, or real. We're a celebrity culture and fame equals legitimacy.
By the way, a good book on the topic of Alzheimer's and other brain issues is "Saving Your Brain" by neurologist Jeff Victoroff.
