Thanks for this article. I live in Minnesota, and I still remember the day he died. He was in a close election with Norm Coleman who of course went on to win the election after Wellstone's death. He was always a fighter, working hard for everyone in our state, and a lot of people really, really liked him. Many consider him a great Senator, and we all remember his work.
People do need to get over it. Obama has said many, many times that he will put the best and brightest in his cabinet. He's also mentioned he wants people in his cabinet that are going to give him new ideas and tell him when they disagree with his plans. I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two Republicans picked for his cabinet (gasp!). Obama is a smart guy, which is one of the reason's that I voted for him. If he thinks that she is the best for the job, than fine. If he can get over all things that were said and done during the primary by the Clintons for the good of the country, so should the rest of us.
Whatever you think about Clinton, she is a not a stupid woman. She is very, very smart. Yes, she agreed with the war in the beginning, but so did most in Congress. I think she is going to be great as Secretary of State.
Our country is in a world of hurt. It's time to get over the pettiness. (I was just as angry as everyone else during the primary). We need to start working together, not just democrats and liberals or progressives, but republicans and independents, too. If we don't do it, and I mean now, we are going to go from a recession to a depression- and I don't want to go through what my grandparents went through and I don't think anyone else on this site wants to line up at a soup kitchen, either.
So as the Eagles song goes: GET OVER IT.
Every person that works for him is going to be in the spotlight so to speak. People seem to forget that once you put something on your computer, it can be retrieved, whether you think you deleted it or not. Emails and all can be found.
If you look back at the primary and the presidential election, it seems like every single person he ever met, whether in passing or at a meeting, was suddenly an association. We go on blogs and websites and think that our name can never be traced, but that isn't true. Like it or not, there really is no "privacy" anymore.
It may be going a little far, but if you know that, for example, you have had a screen name at a site, but don't remember either, but one day you happened to vent a little more than usual, tell them you don't remember the site or screen name, but in general what was said. It doesn't mean that you won't get the job.
I really don't have a problem with it. I don't think any other President elect has had to deal with the Internet and such the way he has. So like I said, I can see his point.
He has been elected for a couple of weeks, and I have heard nothing but whining coming from my fellow Dems...
He is not the President of the Progressive states. He is President of far left, far right, center left, center right, and independents and all others in this country. He said he will put the best and the brightest in his Cabinet. Right now, we need to stick together and not just go all crazy on the liberal side. Tough times ahead, people. Stop whining!
Doesn't anyone in this country get tired of whining? The man hasn't even taken office yet, and all anyone has done is complain.
Poor me, he didn't pick exactly who I think (because I'm an expert) should be in his cabinet! Not enough change! A Clinton!? How could he do this to our country!!!!!!!!!!!
Come on people. We all know that you would be angry if he would have picked some inexperienced guy or gal out of nowhere. Instead, we would hear--I told you he didn't know what he was doing. Our economy is tanking and he picks some inexperienced fool to run things! I should have known.............Oh, the horror!
Like I have reminded people time and time again on this site and other far left sites, he isn't just the President-elect of liberals. He is going to be President of everyone in this country. And right now, with our economy in shambles, we need to start getting along and work together. Because like I said, we are in a recession which could quickly become a depression. And none of you will want to stand in a soup line next year at this time. I should know, I'll be doing it next week. Be thankful for what you have and give the man a little time to do his job.
