President X and Iraq Vacation Packages

Republicans and media-war-proponents are far too invested in the war to do anything other than claim it is finally going well.

Their strategy is simple, keep it going, because otherwise their only option in their minds and in the minds of their sheep is to leave in defeat. If they keep it going and force the next president to end this debacle then it is not Bush who "lost the war" it is president X. This strategy points to the emptiness of their souls which by their multiple other actions is not surprising, but what is disappointing that this kind of strategy still works.

As always, the very idea of granting anonymity to government sources to do nothing other than repeat pro-government claims is both manipulative and moronic on its face.

This is another case where it is not surprising, based on their history, that they try this approach toward disseminating propaganda. What is surprising is how many morons there are in the media that fall for this. Or maybe they are not morons and are consciously complicent in propanganda? I am hoping they are just morons.

So... you're predicting that by September there will be success in Iraq. Good to hear. -- tiberius Yes, get your tickets now for the September "Free and Liberated Iraqi" vacation package. They are going fast.

Original article: When Democrats collapse

You Really got to be kidding

When you heroes turn out to be somewhat less than you expected, then what?

This from the side of the aisle that has Bush, the number 1 exhibit for classless, ignorant, criminal buffoon and overall general moron.

While it does make sense to have Bush, who is still trying to put two coherent sentences together as the number one example of a Republican, the Dems will shortly be calling in the white coats to round up the BushaDumbFuks and put them in a home where they can enjoy their cheese and crackers.

Communication

The idea of forcefully articulating a view in order to change public opinion -- such as explaining why de-funding is a perfectly valid option like all the others for ending the war -- never occurs to them.

Sure the neo-cons policies are naive, foolish, and destructive. The management style based on cronyism and loyalty is inept, incompetent, and destructive, and they don't mind an outright lie or two or three, but they can frame the debate. Thesy can COMMUNICATE IDEAS, however false and ethically challenged those ideas are.

Democrats are more comptent managers by a factor of about 10, but they have to take responsiblity for being incompetent at COMMUNICATION, which for crying at loud is a primary defintiion of what politics are.

Original article: The president vs. the law

How many?

We do not have Russians or Germans or Iranians flying bombing runs over our cities, nor invading our shores. There is absolutely no excuse for the claim of unfettered executive power Bush proclaimed for himself.

So I ask, how many examples of blatant disregard for the law does it take to impeach a president?

I don't get it

As with sex or real estate, it is often best to keep the lights off.

I don't get it

What's sex have to do with real estate and lights? I mean sex is good with the lights on or off and I don't know how Cohen gets around his house at night without the lights on. Flashlight? Candles?

The best I could come up with for a definitive sex, light, and real estate statement is, "It's often best not to have sex on the top bunk of a narrow bunk bed and real estate is best when you own it and the lights work."

The road to hell is paved with good intentions

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

A friend once told me that's a ridiculous statement because of course good intentions are good - you don't want to get rid of good intentions. I responded that you can have all the good intentions you want, but the only thing that counts are your actions. If good intentions lead to good actions, good outcomes then fine, otherwise they are useless, irrelevant, and only good for apologists.

This applies to Bush in spades. What his intentions are, are irrelevant. What is relevant are his actions which demonstrate the shallowest of character with arrogance and ignorance in equal measure. In order to save the world he'd destroy it, in order to promote peace he'd start wars willy nilly. A framework based on a comic book level understanding of the world and the people in it only demonstrates to me a deep disregard and alienation from basic tenets of humanity.

Armageddon still popular

"Easy. With a Russian built "Sunburn" Missile, aka carrier killers (google it) and it could even be tipped with a warhead from some sympathetic parties in Pakistan."

This brings up a another point. We can't just bomb Iran to be "safe". We'd have to bomb Iran AND Russia AND Pakistan too. And who knows maybe most every country with a nuclear arsenal. It's the old armageddon can be good theory, which I guess is still popular in some circles.
