  • We should all send a thank-you card to the DNC

[Read the article: Burden on superdelegates gets even heavier]

Hillary could win every state left 56%-44% and still Obama breaks the 2025 needed to win.-- Hepstyle

I don't think so. If all Obama has to do is lose 44-56 in the remaining states why all the pissing and moaning over the super delegates? Super-delegates are independent, they vote not based on popular vote, caucuses, or a whiny Obama, but on their own judgement. If Clinton gets 55% of the remaining delegates as you say and also gets 60% of the superdelegates she ends up ahead of Obama by about 40 delegates, but still does not have enough to win. If you don't like the rules, bring it up with the DNC, who has created a primary system where it is not only possible, but most likely to not have a winner. And as a bonus dis-enfranchises two important general election states.

...not vague "hypotheticals" like your "Old people vote for old people" nonsense.--lynx

Check the exit polling, older voters do support Clinton overwhelmingly, not nearly as overwhelmingly as blacks support Obama but significant. Are you saying just because blacks supported Obama in the primaries they may not in a general?

$20 says WES is white, male, catholic from blue collar roots if not blue collar himself. We know which side of the Mason Dixon he lives. His arguements will always sway toward Hillary. Another $20 says he's really for McCain. -- FranZooey

I got $20 that FranZooey is an atheist, baby-killing, socialist wine taster. There, that was contructive, wasn't it.

  • Not quite

[Read the article: So, what's next?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The other repubs use all her [Clinton] talking points to win the election for McCain.

    Not quite.

Obama was the one plagerizing GOP talking points against Clinton earlier in the contest. And the GOP doesn't need any help from Clinton or anyone else for that matter in trashing Obama. Obama is providing plenty of ammunition on his own.

If this was a winner take all primary, the current results would stand at Clinton 1,585, Obama 1,255. I bring it up because in a general election with Obama against McCain, it is not unreasonable to project a similar electoral college ratio in McCains favor.

  • speculation

[Read the article: Comparing McCain to an "Internet stock circa 1999"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think the GOP wants to battle Clinton, only because of spite. Bill Clintons 8 years in the white house are their only blemish in 38 years of White House political domininance.

Bill kicked their ass, they may want payback, so I am guessing they'll spend the rest of the Democratic Primary smearing the unknowns about Obama with exagerations about his past and "knowns" they just make up, thereby helping Clinton.

They got nothing to lose, if Obama still wins they accomplish plenty of preliminary damage before the general. If Clinton wins they get another shot at bloodying a Clinton who to date has always beat them in an election.

  • Conditionally Equal Almost Rights

[Read the article: Is Obama really standing up for gay rights?]

"You focus on equal rights first...please fire this jack-ass. He is incapable of writing an intelligent post."-- burlydee

Yes Mr. Genius with a brain the size of a walnut.

Equal rights means all rights regardless of sexual orientation. It is not equal rights based on homophobes picking and choosing which rights are "equal" and which are not.

Equal rights is ZERO, NONE, NADA, discrimination based on race, gender, religion or sexual orientation. Marriage is a LEGAL vehicle that gays should not be EXCLUDED from. If you do not support the right to gay marriage you DO NOT support equal rights for gays.

Any person or politician that supports equal rights but not gay marriage is yanking your chain, including serpent tongued Obama.

BTW, if an Obama cultist disagrees with an article fine, make your point and then STFU. You don't need to yell bias on every fukking article that Salon has ever published on anything political. It's like you're fukkin trained monkees.

  • The Myth

[Read the article: Top Dems consider intervening in race]

"The chances of Hillary Clinton winning are very, very low."

    No they're not.

If Clinton grab 55% or more of the remaining delegates, which is reasonable based on the demographics of the remaining states and Obama then is not able to get more than 42% of the remaining surepdelegates, there is no winner.

No one reaches 2,025, and so it goes to the floor of the convention where I guess Hillary and Obama have to do rock, paper, scissors to see who wins. I mean with real rocks and scissors.

  • Well...

at least he didn't blame the white man.

He's blaming the white woman, I guess that's progress.

  • It's Obvious...

[Read the article: Keith Olbermann apologizes for his Clinton remark]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It was just a slip of the tongue, kind of like if Rush said the best way to get Obama to understand something is to show him a rope and then point to a tree. An Obama supporter would never find anything racist about that. No, it was just Rush being cute like Olbermann was being cute about slapping a woman around in a back room.

    Right.

  • The question...

[Read the article: Krugman asks "what's gone wrong" with Obama campaign]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

...from Obama supporters follows the theme of why Krugman hates Obama but the question really being asked is why does Krugman fail to worhip Obama.

  • The not so funny eccentric uncle

[Read the article: The return of the Rev. Wright]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"It is an attack on the black church..."

"If you think I'm going to let you talk about my mama and her religious tradition..."

Interesting - criticism of his rhetorical flourishes were somehow an attack on "the" black church. Interesting becasue for many supporters Obama did not attend a black church and Wright has now proclaimed himself the self-annointed spokesman for "the" black church.

And who talked about his mama or her religious tradition? The discussion centered around his insipid or inspirational (based on your pov) choice of politically bombastic sermons. For a preacher he sure understands the art of political deflection. Retribution - Obama hurt him and he knows he is now hurting Obama. He is throwing Obama and his politics under the bus and throwing in instead with the Nation of Islam politically.

    Ouch.
