The only surprising thing...

... is that there is not an outright acquittal. The governments squealings from the beginning never matched the reality of who these people were and what they were doing.

I am waiting for Cheney to proclaim, "No matter how many mis-trials it takes; 2, 10 or a hundred, we will do what it takes to keep America safe."

But thats the problem with fear of terrorism, the "but what if I am wrong" phobia sets in and leads to half-baked ideas like the Iraq invasion, patriot act, Guantanamo, and all the other stupid post 9/11 decisions. Apparently, it's better to err on the side of having senseless bloody wars, curtailing civil liberties, torturing, ignoring the Constitution, losing the nations moral compass and stupidly hemorrhaging money than to risk somebody maybe blowing-up a Walmart.

Of all the things that could unexpectedly kill me and do unexpectedly kill Americans everyday, terrorism is not one of them.

Wisp of Smoke

The media was mean, they picked on me. I could of looked so noble and great and the media messed me up. Whaaaahhhh.

The pundits, journalists whatever they are, were unsuprisingly stupid and insepid and political debates are never debates. Nothing new there. What is new is for someone campaigning for an executive position, a "buck stops here" position, to be always looking to blame something or someone else for his weakness, poor decisions, mistakes, or poor performance. News flash to Obama: YOU are the ONLY reason for your weak and unpresidential performance.

It is painfully obvious that when Clinton and Obama share the same stage, Obama looks like a scared little kid, who's afraid Clinton the school marm is going to whack him one upside the the back of his head. Obama in debates looks alternately scared, petulent, and weak.

Clinton is a bitch, one tough bitch and Obama standing next to her is nothing more than a wisp of smoke.

Instead of....

...lashing out at the people who get hooked on flag pin issues. How about looking in the mirror and trying to understand why Democrats are so easily labeled as unpatriotic, weak on defense, etc.

Kerry was a war hero who volunteered for service in a brutal, deadly war, won awards of valor and courage and yet he was able to be labeled as cowardly and unpatriotic.

Get you mind around that.

Flag pin, burning the flag, or flag magnets (made in China) issues are all BS, but that is not the issue. The issue is why this BS is so effective against Democrats. Playing the victim card is not an answer.

5 presidents to 2 - 30 years to 12

Since nixon we have had 5 Republican presidents governing for 30 years and 12 years of Democratic presidents, 8 of those democratic years by Clinton.

To say Democrats have been challenged in electing a president since the 70's is an understatement.

I don't know that this article may have helped define some reasons for this, I am not sure. I do know the things in the Dems favor are not the candidates nor Democratic party leadership, but instead the worsening economy and a wildly unpopular Republican president.

Thats something to hang your hat on.

The level of ignorance...

of Bill Clintons accomplishments in the middle of the last thirty-eight years of republican political dominance is staggering. Bills presidency is the ONLY spot of Democratic political strength except for the recent Democratic wins in Congress.

Those which were more due to how Republicans created such an expansive panorama of ignorance, screwy idealogy, and incompetence, that voters had to vote them out. Not one strong democratic congressional leader came out of it. Obama couldn't find the bathroom in congress, never mind be a congressional leader. So W showed him the way. You can be a fukkin' idiot with lack-luster accomplishments and become president. Let's elect Axelrod for president and Rove for VP.

BTW the Republican 38 year dominance was made possible by many of the attitudes displayed in these letters.

Ignorance is bliss.

Whats your point?

That Obama is poor?

Let's get more stupid now.

Shouldn't they just skip...

...the rest of the primary elections and have the Obamites decide on everyones behalf?

I mean only the Obama-annointed really should have the right to have a say.

Don't you think so?

Original article: Obama can't close the deal

No. He. Can't. - rulez is rulez

Anybody notice that Obama talks in the same stilted way Captain Kirk used to talk in the Star Trek series?

"Obama can't close the deal" True... as long as fear, ignorance and racism continue to propel the American electorate. -- ChinaMade

I would modify slightly to say, fear, ignorance, racism and sexism propel the American electorate. But thats not why Obama cannot close the deal, any biased white voting is offset by biased black voting. (winning 89% of the black vote is not "issues" voting) Obama can't close the deal because simply put, he is not a strong enough candidate under current rules to do so.

-----------

Yet, I - like many Obama supporters who skew more affluent and educated... --HP

According to exit polls people with "just" graduate degrees favored Obama but people with post-graduate degrees favored Clinton. Sorry you need to go back to school, because you ain't cutting it in the educated department compared to Clinton supporters. Also Obama is favored only by people making less than 15,0000 and people making more than 150,000. I did not realize all of the affluent and educated Obama folks hung out with low income folks at barbecues, wine tasting parties and such.

The reality is this, under current rules, neither Obama or Clinton are a strong enough candidate to win the delegates needed.

The Democratic primaries are being strangled by 1,001 special interest groups, otherwise the Democratic primaries would be winner take all and Clinton would be leading more substantially than Obama is now. And the DNC would not have alienated the voters of two of the most important states in the general election, and Clinton would have already won the primaries. But rulez is rulez and 1,001 special interest groups are 1,001 special interest groups.
