  • History repeats itself ad-nauseum

[Read the article: Fred Kagan on Monday: "The civil war in Iraq is over"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Traditional military tactics don't work very well against guerrillas. We proved that in Vietnam, and we've spent five years proving it again in Iraq. The Russians spent about ten years proving it in Afghanistan.-- Alkaline

Especially guerillas that are motivated by more than a chance to make a few bucks. Iraqi government forces and "pro"-American forces fight as long as they are paid. Anti-government forces fight for blood revenge, their beliefs, their honor, and for Allah. They are personally committed enemies with long memories and patience over generations. The "surge" to them is just a cloud passing overhead on an otherwise clear night.

This was all predictable and ignored. I think we like the flavor of war.

  • What is the defense?

[Read the article: Michelle Obama on "ignorant" America]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

That Michelle was suggesting that we all should just get together and sing and throw flowers in the air, even the "garlic nosed" eyetalians?

Wright has been the Obama familys preacher for 20 years. A "man of God" who likes to use ethnic slurs, shout bombastic rhetoric against the white suppressor and give awards to anti-semites.

So which does the American people ignore first, the 20 years of church attendance with a pastor who is/was a personal friend, his spiritual advisors ethnic slurs, or his spiritual advisors anti-semite relationships?

  • Who knew?

The president we are waiting to elect is an American.

    Learn something new everyday.

  • Thanks Leahy - Original

[Read the article: Leahy: Clinton should quit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

An unbiased opinion from an Obama supporter, something new, something we can believe in, like McCain figuring out we are electing an American president.

  • God to suffer the fools.

[Read the article: Hillary's team crosses the line]

What McPeak's remarks revealed is less an anti-Semitic mind-set than an ignorant reading of the Jewish community's attitudes toward Israel - Joe

Great to know that one of Obamas trusted advisors is not anti-Semitic, but just ignorant about jews. That's a relief. Add that he is also ignorant about Joe McCarthy, and is considered a maximus dumb-ass by his peers in military matters, you then have another Obama change we can believe in moment.

There appears to be craving for examples of transgressions by Obama and his underlings, but it is clear that even if you shoved Obama transgressions the size of Manhattan up certain peoples butts, they would still be saying, "Oh yeah, but give some examples, where's the examples, huh?"

Which leads me to conclude some people have big asses.

  • I don’t know who’s lamer – Academia or Obama

[Read the article: Professor Obama, I presume? ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

A Sr Lecturer is not a lecturer.

A Lecturer is not a Sr lecturer.

A Sr Lecturer is a professor.

Except when it’s not, like when a Sr Lecturer is offered a professorship but turns it down.

I guess the high standards of academia now require "professor" being a meaningless term.

Obama snd Bush both had undistinguished careers except for their presidential campaigns. In private industry people who don't do much of anything except enhance and promote their careers are called weasels.

And sorry, I missed how many war-torn countries or countries in crisis Obama visited? Was Obama ever told to wear a flak jacket due to danger? Was he ever told of danger while in a military plane? Was Obama ever in a military plane that had to make a severe defensive manuver? Was Obama ever in a military plane at all or was he too busy padding his resume or taking credit for legislative work he made minimum contributions to?

Change you can believe in – titles are meaningless, plagerism is ok if you copy your friends work, it's ok to partner in real estate transactions with criminal suspects, continually lie about past and current "embarasssing" relationships, take credit for other peoples work, and of course mock people who have spent a lifetime serving the country in order to cover up your own lack of credentials.

Sorry if I am more facinated with actions then words. Words are important, MLK had great words but they were built and forged by his actions, risks, and sacrifices. Obamas words are built by brand managers.

  • How many imbeciles does it take to feel safe

[Read the article: Michael Mukasey's tearful lies]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"We didn't know precisely where it went." --Mukasey

The Bush administration knew a call came from a terrorist cell in Afganistan into the United states but did not know where the phone call went to? They were able to tap a phone in Afganistan from a know terrorist but not get the phone number the person called to in the US?

Is Mukasey too stupid to realize he is either implicating himself as a complete liar or implicating the Bush administrations pre-9/11 intelligence performance as incompetent and criminally negligent?

  • Who's the charmer this time?

[Read the article: McCain, Obama in spat]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The big question to me is: are the American people still so stupid and uninformed that they will vote for another conservative, "charmer" in 2008?-- Thebigkate

Nah they would never do that. Look at Bush.

On the other hand, due to I presume corrpution and general stupidity of the political process, the American people are not given good choices. In this case there is someone who has made bad decisions based on extensive foreign policy experience and someone who has next to no knowledge of foreign policy as well as no history of foreign policy decisions.

If it comes down to these two, it's another choose you lose election since in terms of foreign policy this is like choosing between dumb and dumber.

  • Poltics is now about 3 things : Appearance, Appearance and Appearance.

[Read the article: "Great American Hypocrites: Toppling the Big Myths of Republican Politics"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

"...the establishment press will remove those considerations [past record of performance] from its election coverage and the GOP's exploitation of bottom-feeding personality-based psychological, cultural and gender themes will predominate. In 2008, the GOP will dedicate itself single-mindedly to these same personality-based, manipulative electoral tactics because that is their only hope for winning." --GG

Isn't that what politics have become aross the board? In the Democratic primary there are two candidates who have voted the same in the Senate 95% of the time. What are Democratic voters basing their decision on, if not the cult of personality, or is it gender or race? Obama now is ahead by a field goal late in the third quarter and Clinton is supposed to quit according to sycophants like Leahy? Are GOP type politics that different from what Democrats are doing now? Or is the only difference that the GOP, since Reagan, has better practiced and successful cult politics in presidential elections.
