It's more about credit where credit due
[Read the article: Ferraro resigns from Clinton campaign]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Many posters have correctly and obviously noted that historically being black, for most of America’s history was a severe disadvantage. Ferraro is an idiot, but she is correct in noting that being black is an advantage for Obama, what she failed to note is that Obama made it an advantage where no other black man has been able to. Within the history of the American black people, this is a great achievement. I am not being snarky or sarcastic, it is an achievement for a race that has been oppressed for generations.
Obama achieved 90% of the black vote by indeed making race an issue, playing the race card for the first time in national politics to a black person’s advantage. Probably long overdue considering how often it has been a liability to be black in this country. But so far it is only within the Democratic primary, in the general election, the way he achieved his support with black people and the overwhelming black support itself could cause enough whites to dig up some good old American racist roots. Who knows? We may never know, he still has not won the Democratic nomination.

Bloody mess
[Read the article: "Hillary in the House"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]So the Democratic primary has devolved to debating who has the least God-awful music video. Great, can't wait for the many nuggets of aesthetic insights forthcoming.
Well rest easy Mr. Steinberg, the Klan and the Aryan Nation are pulling Hillary too. -- siebecker
And muslim terroists are pulling for Obama. Happy now?
Meanwhile, sounds like Manos99s bit his lip again. What a bloody mess.

Alex sums it up
[Read the article: Reexamining the Ferraro fracas]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]We (and by we I mean the American media and the American public as a whole) are intensely superficial when it comes to choosing our elected officials --Alex K.
I would add in each election cycle our intensity of need for the superficial is growing. The electorate is like the guy sitting in his car outside a Quickie Mart, unsuccessfully feeding his needs by desperately eating more and more twinkies.

What are Obamites running away from?
[Read the article: Geraldine Ferraro still needs to apologize]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What do you all think? A bit of campaign advising in my future? -- lateagain
In a word yes. Your answer was about 10 notches higher than Obamas.
No, she should NOT apologize.
I intend to vote for Barrack Obama in November. Go ahead and call this Obama supporter (me) a racist, but one of the reasons I'm voting for him is because he's black. -- Beth_W
No you are not a racist you are using honesty and common sense. Why wouldn't a black person vote for a qualified black candidate? Why shouldn't being black be an advantage? I have no issue with Obama being black or getting the black vote, or re-enforcing being black as an advantage. Duh, it is an obvious advantage in relationships with the Middle East to have an American president being dark skinned with a Muslim name. Or is it so bad for black men to eventually be associated with excellent speaking skills?
I have a number of issues with Barack none of which includes him increasing the stature of being black in this country.
Obama is fearful that by claiming being black as an advantage, he will inflame divisiveness. Too bad. True change would be as Late_agin suggests mean accepting his blackness as an advantage, not political weaseling and pandering around the racist elements in and around our society. The political weaseling and race baiting is what is causing divisiveness. Would an Irishman run away from being Irish if politicking in an Irish neighborhood?

Moveon Announcment
[Read the article: MoveOn launches celeb-studded competition for Obama ad]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Moveon.org has invited Monica Lewinski to join the panel.
Ok just kidding.

cPaige...
[Read the article: Obama can't win general election, Clinton advisor says]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...is brilliant.
Not sarcastic, but rather absurdist and deadly accurate all at the same time.
As a Kurt Vonnegut fan, immensely enjoyable.
And as far as prognosticating in the general election, this whole discussion is ridiculous. It is obvious who'll win; their candidate.

Ahh yes...
[Read the article: Bush "envious" of U.S. troops in Afghanistan]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...the sweet smell of blood and guts and explosives along with the aural music of wailing pain from soldiers, women and children come together in a sweet multi-media bouquet that is irresistable to a pathetic cowardly fuk like GWB.

The next great debate
[Read the article: High-level right-wing discourse]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What did exit polls for John Kennedy show amoung Catholic voters? If an irishman ran for president and pulled 80% of the irish votes, Jonah would be writing about what?
The racist theme in Jonahs world is that it is racist for black men to support black men.
Instead of killing (metaphorically speaking) the Jonahs of the world, Obama and supporters call the Clintons and their supporters racist at every opportunity, creating perhaps un-healable Democratic divisions. No one who championed for racial equality, when it was more dangerous than fashionable to do so, want to be called racist by someone who has benefited from their risks.
Jonah fuels racism by denigrating unified black support, and Obama inflames racists by so often throwing out the race card, while disenfranchising allies who do not warrant the race card.
Anyways, looking beyond race, (right) and looking forward to the debate over which party candidate has the more wacko, hateful, and delusional pastor.
If it's McCain/Obama then the debate would start about dead even.
