  • It is over - nobody wins

[Read the article: Defying Clinton campaign's predictions, Obama takes delegate lead]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The reality is that 2,025 delegates are required to get the nomination, and neither candidate will be able to do that based on the delegates remaining. The "winner takes all" Republican primaries allowed McCain to emerge as the winner without a painful three-way with Romney and Huckabee. Obama would need to receive over 97% of the remaining delegates to clinch the nomination and Clinton requires 100%.

Neither scenario is likely, unless my math is wrong and someone please correct me if so.

So all this primary bantering is useless, the most likely outcome is a democratic convention with no one acheiving 2,025 delegates and a virtual tie in delegates. It would be easy to cast the Democratic convention then as the "somewhere over the Rainbow" crowd against the "establishment wicked witch of the east" crowd - but I hope cooler heads prevail - it's about the electoral college. Which candidate is best positioned to beat McCain in the Electoral college. Period. Everything else is bull-doo-doo.

  • Change for the sake of change is hopeful because we can hope for change

[Read the article: "Maybe he'd prefer to give speeches"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Thats what I like about Obama supporters - clueless. What is in that kool-aid and how did Obama vote on telcom immunity?

UPDATE V: Final passage in the Senate of the Cheney/Rockefeller bill was 68-29. 19 Democrats joined all Republicans to vote in favor of warrantless eavesdropping and telecom amnesty: Conrad, Rockefeller, Baucus, Webb, Kohl, Whitehouse, Bayh, Johnson, Bill Nelson, Mikulski, McCaskill, Lincoln, Casey, Salazar, Inouye, Ben Nelson, Pryor, Carper, and Landrieu. Neither Obama nor Clinton voted on final passage. -- Glenn Greenwald

...I believe Obama will keep campaign promises (and Hillary wouldn't even try)- Certified Obamite He's a politician - grow up, do something adult today. If you believe that, then rent an apartment from his his slum lord friend Rezco. You know an association like this used to kill a candidate - (see Geraldine Ferraro and her husband Real Estate Developer John Zaccaro). I guess thats what Obamaites mean by change - hooking up with shady real estate developers is no longer an issue.

The answer that we have already had too many debates is schticky politicky. Someone pulls a magic number out their butt and thats it - 3? 5? 7? 2? Hillary and Obama have had how many head to head debates? They are running neck and neck and Obama can't deal with "too many" one to one debates with Hillary? Typical, cowardly politician bull-doo-doo.

W.E.S. nails it again - It's all about Change, unless the old way of doing things serves you better.

  • a 60 page document

[Read the article: McCain attacks Obama again]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    is not a plan.

Who in their right mind thinks a 60 page document is going to solve all of Americas and the worlds ills. It's a platform, a statment of operating principles. It is not a fukkin plan.

Here's my "plan" for world hunger:

I believe no one one in the world should go hungry, all we need to do is believe, pull together and believe we can, then we'll get a bunch of food and give to all the people in the world who are hungry.

    Whoopee, a helluva plan, no?

That said, McCain is running virtually neck and neck with Obama in head to head polls and he does not even have the support of the hard right base. If he can pursuade enough of those Huckabee supporters over to him, he has a chance to win. Under-estimating McCain is a huge mistake.

  • Pander myAss

[Read the article: "No, You Can't"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Obama is the panderer in Chief. Look at his "Move over Huckabee" flyer exhorting himself as "The Christian candidate" in Carolina. Some nuggets from his flyer:

    "Answering the Call"

    "A committed Christian"

"Called to Christ - Called to bring Change"

"Barack on the power of Prayer"

HE IS TELLING PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR HIM BECAUSE HE IS CHRISTIAN. IT'S WHAT BUSH DID. It was deplorable when Bush did it, it is deplorable when Huckabee does it, and it is deplorable when Obama does it.

All politicians are panderers, thats how they get elected. But a religious panderer is the worst. It's disgusting. But go ahead continue, ignore it, Obama is like the Pope, he can do no wrong.

It would be cool though if he put out flyers exhorting himslef as "The Black Candidate", or "The Upper Middle Class Educated Candidate", or the "Non-Muslim Candidate". Guess that ain't gonna happen, well unless he gets behind in the primaries or the general election.

I admire the effort on the video, but I found it kinda flat. *shrug* Funny, tho, how quickly the angry Hillary people ran in here just to throw stones. Telling, that. -- swilldog

Dumb ass you came in here to throw stones at the video. (or should I call it a little condescending pebble). Please go ahead congratulate yourself again on how superior you are.

  • How far can one go

[Read the article: CNN's John Roberts helps out Mike McConnell]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Don't you get the feeling that Bush et al are really just trying to see how far Congress will let them go? And that the answer is "we don't know yet"? -- What Constitution?

Yes absolutely. Bushes entire mode of operations has been based on based on how much can I get away with. How far can I go. I wonder if he is surprised as anyone as to how far we have let him go.

  • Concerning humanity - maybe the question is always, "Who's more stupid?"

[Read the article: America closes the book on intelligence]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I guess anyone who believes the Bible is true is stupid?

That seems to be the general argument. It's a really stupid argument. -- thingswesaid

Two key words in your statment: "believes" and "true".

Jews do not believe Jesus is the saviour, effectivley "believing" the Christian Bible is not true. I hope you don't think that makes Jews stupid.

The Bible as any spiritual text is about explaining unprovable truths, making known the unknowable to get fancy about it. Anyone who believes in the Bible is not stupid. They are stupid when they can't tell the difference between the Bible and science.
