Original article: Everybody hates mommy

Please

This articles reeks of entitlement.

My son is now in his early twenties.

This means when he was a toddler, the Mommy Wars, Part [fill in the blank] were beginning.

As soon as the mothers in my community had babies, they just became weird.

They not only stopped working, which is fine, but they began to obsess over their husbands careers, in turn crowing about their vaunted lifestyles and whining about everything, including spouses who were not supportive.

They acted as if I were a freak of nature because I worked and sent my child to daycare. My husband also worked.

Many quickly, as if on a strange serotonin high, became insular elitists, whose outlook also often conveyed shallow racism. I am black, and smart, and pretty, and thin, and because they knew me, they assumed I was exempt.

Their husbands were as weird, and I prefer not to go back to those days.

I could tell you stories about why there is so much resentment towards these well-educated, overpriveleged moms.

I don't hate them, but really prefer not to spend much time with them.

Oh, and one final point: how crazy was it that when their children went away to school they began to sound the drumbeat for "re-entering" the workforce at levels that us more ordinary schmucks had worked our asses off to obtain?

And their husbands were there to support them.

Again, I was there. No sympathy.

This backlash is perhaps unfortunate, but also appropriate to counterbalance the craziness of this cult.

The strollers are but a symbol.

hilarious and true!

I have told my partner that political positions and critiques are often best when set to music ...

this proves it.

And as an old-school, Philly girl with serious political chops, this slow jam hits all the right notes...

It brought two halves perfectly together: politics and the Philly Slow Drag.Thank you.

lieberman

I agree with the posters who say:

1. Make him stand up and filbuster.

2. Then, kick him out of the caucus. Kick him out! He only takes up a lot of space and hot air.

We've worked too hard.Enough!

Silly imputation

Some other country will be the venue. America can't have everything.

Move on, and stop blathering sabout it. Before the advent of the 24 hr news cycle we would not have made such a bifg deal of this...

Sure, it means something, but it doesn't mean everything.

Look at urban crime in Chicago and elsewhere; look at unemploymen; look at the manner in which our banking system nearly toppled not only a nation, but a world, and adress those issues. Then, we can talk.

I hope someone on some news station somehwere establishes a connection between the Chicago "no" vote and a family's recent tragedy in losing their son to violence in the city.

We sent our media popes, Oprah and the Obamas, as was appropariate. Unfortunately, they had to appear on the world stage of youth, enthusiasm, hard work and hope, with the psychological backdrop of black crepe , signalling the mournful plea of communities across America that are scared, angry, forgotten. even when they attempt to forge a better way.

We have to do better.

That, in my estimation, is the real story. Not the vapid Republican political twist Talk about the real story. Please.

Biden is the man

I have always liked Biden.

He has a refreshing candor and a level of authenticity that is rare among politicians.

I, a black woman, didn't mind when he said that Obama was 'clean and fresh." Because he is.

I got it.

And, thank heavens Joe doesn't engage in sending obscure mixed messages about serious issues that require that we do all the work in reading between the lines.

He is a nice guy. He grew up pretty blue collar. He has had some struggles that could break many a person, but he has always remained forthright.

He loves his wife.

He plays to a crowd...sure, that is a part of his appeal. Sometimes he goes a bit far for a chuckle, but that is o.k., too. He is also very, very smart, and very, very courageous.

He is a tremendously sincere and forgiving counterweight to the overbearing folks within both parties, and I am so glad he is a Democrat.

Finally, he is a great vice president and a great role model to his children.

How very normal and wonderful.

pissed

God bless my risk averse party. They need it. Seriously.

They are still attempting to apppease blue dogs, and instead they need to train them.

I am exhausted by the ineptitude, absence of leadership and inability to recruit anyone who actually shows real leadership and initiatve...

Did I mention that I was pissed?

Original article: President Snoop Dogg

crazy...

As soon as POTUS uttered the words " I will call you out" I knew the interpretations were coming..laughed out loud at the Chicago in your face moment of it all..

Snoop? heck no! urban? Hell yes! he cut his political teeth in Chi Town...so what should we expect...

This is Obama being up front and real. He was appropriately showing his political chops, street cred, if you will, and used a variant of the "don't *&$# with me" direct challenge that sometimes must issue from folks who have been mischahracetrized as weak by others...

Sometimes necessary. Very effective when used sparingly...

As for the Snoop reference, so often these guys who make these cultural leaps take me back to the racial perestroika of the 60's, when we'd sit in a rec room, and they'd insist they knew more about any and everything, including Sly and the Family Stone, than me or anyone else...

It was hilarious, and I still run across it. Now, however, we're sitting across the table negotiating the deal...

Still, today, they are often wrong, but sad to say, have one or two significant factors on their side...

c'est la vie...sometimes I just have to call them out...
