Best G.K. Ever Until That Odd Thing About Preachers And Net Worth

Too convoluted. Did you write this write before the deadline? MAYBE, if you had spoken this, you could have communicated that point, but, in righting ?????

Psychologists Should Take A Stance Similar To The Red Cross

The APA should encourage their members to get involved as observers, evaluators, and revealers, rather than as torturers. Other organizations should do the same (AMA, the psychiatrists, and so on).

In my generation, Nazis were portrayed in literature and movies as evil torturers. In the next generation, we Americans have taken over that evil role.

Please, let us correct this for the next generation plus one.

Gosh Darn It, Adam And Eve Did Okay!

And all those Greek gods and goddesses had gods and goddesses rather than retards, when they bred with their own sisters and brothers!

My sister is really cute! Her husband doesn't deserve her. I wish she would have married me instead!

And my mom is cute too! My daughters are Deeee-Lish!!!! Even my little dog Darla is lovely. Don't tell me what to do! I'm a Libertarian, and I'm horny as all get-out!

From A Craft Standpoint....

I do not get it.

The Letter Writer writes well. The example, or whatever Cary means that intro to mean, is awful (keeps writing, "in regards," "in regards," and other dopinesses). And Cary, then says, "hence" five or six or a million times in a row.

If you can play "Louie, Louie" and "Gesu Joy of Man's Desiring" well, you are a musician. If you can write a few paragraphs without writing "different than," you are a writer.

It is a technical thing, a talent/experience thing, not emotional. You need practice over time, but cool it with the kookiness. Write or do not write, as you choose. But you write well enough. Maybe think about teaching writing.

Comma!

I should not have hit a comma after the word "Cary" in my recent post.

I do NOT get this whole exchange. What is the point? I like it, because it is about writing, but what the heck?

What About Dutch-Latin-Native Caribe-Afro Athletes?!

Huh?!! Answer me that!

Right now, on TV, I am watching the Tigers play the Indians, and the Tigers' pitcher is Jair Jurrjens, a Dutch-Latin-Caribe-Afro person.

I believe the home-plate ump also may be Dutch-Latin-Caribe-Afro (hard to tell for sure with the ump's mask blocking my view).

SO! My friends, Jair Jurrjens is pitching pretty well. An obvious case of racial favoritism! That ump just loves his homey, and I never even would have realized, if I had not heard about this profound survey.

I'm terrified about the effect on the game of baseball. Can you imagine what might happen if we ever get a Russian-speaking Eskimo ump?!

And What About Female Umps?!!!!!!

This survey did not even bother to check whether major league female umps favor female pitchers! Can you imagine?

In 2007, this sort of knee-jerk sexism is unacceptable. I am going to cancel my Salon subscription. How can you promote this stuff?

Cheney and W. Bush May Know What They Are Doing...

And they may be doing it on purpose. It is possible that they actively are in league with Satan. We keep writing that they are clueless and/or arrogant, but they might be intentionally evil.

If they admitted it, who would believe them? When they say they are spreading democracy in the Middle East, we believe they have just don't get it, and are supremely incompetent.

But they actually are doing a great job of spreading brutality and misery. Are they doing it on purpose?

It Really Hurts When Good Friends Or Lovers Go Cold...

Whether it is justified or not. My experience: Nothing you can do, other than stay away and wait. Do not badger her or blame her. That only would make her feel more guilty about freezing you out, and would make her less likely ever to return.

Just send her a Christmas card out of the blue, to remind her that you still are alive.

Mechanics of Credit Crunch?

What actually is happening?

1. Defaults and foreclosures reduce income to big mortgage bankers such as Countrywide?

2. Countrywide cannot buy mortgages from smaller morgage lenders?

3. Not enough money flowing from home-owners to Countrywide to mortgage lenders?

4. Everybody tightens up mortgage standards, so fewer mortgages, further reducing money flow?

5. No money around to buy houses?

Something like that? Can you explain?

It WAS a Beanball Situation

In that Offerman game, the umps already had determined that the pitcher was throwing at batter(s) intentionally. The umps already had issued warnings, before the incident.

MAV -

Those Irish terrorism supporters used to be all over the USA. I got talking to one in a truly non-terroristic place in the Upper Midwest. I joined her Irish Heritage Society (maybe $20), and then I read one of her recommended books (Gerry Adams), and I started worrying that I just had bought a grenade for the IRA.

Now, I believe, most of those people either have quit fighting, or they have moved to the Northwest Frontier Province.

Back To Basics

Judging by what we have been told, Padilla was found guilty of sympathizing and trying to support, not actually doing anything. We also know that he had no real resources or education.

So, from what they have told us, Padilla deserves a fairly light sentence, no more than the time he already has served (= 3 1/2 years?).

And, it is apparent that he did not deserve torture.

If you Homeland Security people have some damning story, tell us. Otherwise, please slink back, and think twice before you grab anybody else. Being silly is not a crime.

Worried About New Trolls On Beloved "How The World"

Troll:

This is NOT an opinionated column. It is a place where people get interesting info, and then other, clever people add great, expert input.

No axe to grind here, and no axe to fight. So, please cool it. When you have info to give, please give it. That "Marxist" thing was preposterous. Nobody said what you criticized for.

Please hush, read, add, and learn, and teach, instead. Love. Shhh.
