Germany is helping the German auto companies; Japan is helping the Japanese auto-makers

And the USA and Canada should help the North American auto-makers. If they declare bancruptcy, while trying to continue to operate, money will stop flowing in Michigan and in many other places.

We have four tiers of auto parts suppliers plus many, many service providers. In bancruptcy, the OEMs, the auto-makers themselves, might be able to continue to pay their employees, but they would not pay their suppliers or their providers. And, none of those would be able to pay their employees. They all would go out of business, in a few weeks.

Other more-diversified suppliers and providers might stay in business, but they would have to let huge numbers of people go immediately, all their people who work on auto industry stuff.

We have had a good discussion for a week or so on the auto industry. If you are new to this blog, please go back and read our past topics and posts. I am in Detroit, and I am amazed at how many smart Americans hold onto mistaken preconceptions about this situation. This is NOT a US Autos versus Foreign Autos problem.

Please go back and look, and think about it.

W. Bush - Where's that line between stupid and criminal?

Our lifetimes will live on in history forever, and our Salon posts will be immortal. Our USA will be the famous, defining case of criminal versus mentally-impaired.

Should W. Bush get a pardon for being ignorant and well-intentioned? Even though he drove the whole world into depression, and killed many, many thousands of innocent people for no decent reason in Iraq? Even though he tortured human beings, and laughed about it? Is stupid an excuse? How stupid to get off? How smart/stupid to be elected President of the USA? How long is a life sentence?

If'n y'all don't git this, jist don't vote in the next election, please!

Ancient American History, maybe 1960, the Good Old Days

It may be hard to explain, and it may be hard to believe, but American politics used to be better. And American politics were not about ideology.

When I was a kid, I thought it was wonderful that we voted for persons and their ideas, rather than parties and their platforms. That was a long time ago.

We had many wonderful Republicans back then. Name me an even okay Republican now. (Yeah, yeah, those two New Englanders, but back in the day we had maybe two dozen good New England Republicans.)

There used to be a different divide in US politics. Ideological divisions used to be less-than-American. We had a more subtle, more independent way of voting. Maybe I could write a book about it, if anybody would be interested. Can people under 40 even understand that we used to have non-ideologocal politics?

Here's the ultimate diabolical, evil, Republican torturer dodge...

W. Bush can pardon everybody except himself for everything, maybe on January 5. Then, he can resign as President. That makes (f'in') Cheney the new President.

So, then (f'in') Cheney can pardon W. Bush on Jan. 6.

Maybe... Their uses and convolutions on pardons will give us an idea how truly bad they truly are. If they take all sorts of convoluted pardon avenues, then they probably are guilty, probably evil. But, it is possible that they are okay. We will see.

Can we all, each, individually, sue G.W. Bush?

Maybe we can. A hundred million civil suits for damages? Please think about this. You trial lawyers out there, you can come up with a massive class action suit? I would love to discuss this.

Big Trunk/Tiny Tail Boy, have you started sniffing cans of paint?

Holy Schnitzelbank! Cursing at a US Senator?! F-bomb???! Yee-oww!

Remember "Preventive Invasion," or whatever they called that idea that we are allowed to conquer any country that might conceivably threaten somebody? Will your pal G.W. Bush use "Preventive Pardon" just in case somebody might have the decency to charge him and his pals with torture and such?

This will come out within a couple weeks. We will see. Do not shoot off all your fireworks now. Wait and see. And then, after you see the shameful, pitiful outcome, either slink back or shoot your saved-up horsefrokky up toward our truth-seeking eyes. In the short meantime, save up your paltry horsefrokky.

In rational society, in reasonable parts of the USA...

These cuckoos could not even be elected to Township Clerk. They probably are not even qualified to be Township Clerk. Yet... in the South, within the Fox Nation, they get national credibility.

Come to my part of the country, and bring your pet haircuts, you ding-dongs... And appear on my local NPR talk-show, if you dare. You do not dare, because you are made of brown sugar.

Let's wait and see and hear whom G.W. Bush padons, and how he explains

Any pardons will be confessions. Those who are pardoned for important crimes such as torture probably still will have to flee the USA, just in case.

I sort-of believe the rumor that G.W. Bush himself has prepared a finca in Paraguay for his life after his presidency. We will see. His pardons will not pass unremarked. And they are coming soon. Pay attention.

The guys in this tank in Ramadi...

If they did it, they remember this. And they regret it eternally, infinitely. If it happened, the US Army should admit the mistake, and forgive them, rather than bullshitting about simultaneous mortars.

The tactic of denying and trying to draw the tank crew into their lie is awful, inexcusable.
