It's not just the Jewish right that is the problem...

Thanks, Glenn for linking to my Guardian story about Finkelstein's odious deportation. But I wanted to point out that the problem is not just with the Jewish right, it is with some on the Jewish left who do not understand the real issues here. As I wrote in my story, several staff of Jewish peace and human rights groups have written to me saying Finkelstein deserved what he had coming to him.

There is a notion among Jewish liberals that by speaking favorably about Hezbollah that Finkelstein has acted as a traitor to Israel. Personally, I don't support everything he's said & done regarding Hezbollah. But this notion that somehow he's beyond the pale because of this is absurd.

Regarding Joe Lieberman speaking to Hagee's CUFI conference--Joe's going to come out on the losing end either way. If he speaks people like us will pound him till the cows come home about it & make him look like the fool he is. If he decides not to go then it looks like he's acceded to our criticism of him. Either way our side wins.

If Obama wins the presidency and the Dems roll up an even greater Senate majority than they now have, Lieberman is toast. He'll become a total irrelevancy. And good riddance to him. Maybe Ned Lamont WILL become a U.S. senator someday!
