I find this surprising...

...I though American corporations couldn't hire smarmy ass kissers fast enough.

The economy must REALLY be hurting.

Original article: Back to Baghdad

My metric for progress until now...

...was 24 hour electrical service in the capital. I guess I have to lower the bar to "regular trash pickup".

There is hope

Mr. Obama talks about hope in that rich, mellow voice of his, and you just have to hope. Hope is Faith's cousin. She also has a cousin named Bill, and they all live in Idaho, which is neither here nor there, unless you are reading this in Idaho, which is not here.

Mr. Obama gives one hope, for preventing the re-ascendence of the Clintons, and the ensuing freak show. For not having to endure more years of being ruled by larcenous, awful, scary, vindictive, insane, or detectably mendacious people. For the return of grace and intelligence as virtues. Hope for a comprehensible definition of what the meaning of "is" is.

Most of all, I hope God isn't angry with him for firing that preacher. I would rather not have our country ruled by a man that has drawn the ire of an omnipotent deity. President Carter must have really ticked Him off somehow.

Original article: Best. Bailout. Ever.

They want to bail out Fannie, but CAN they?

5 trillion will double our national debt. Currently 20% of tax revenue goes toward interest on that debt, so, all things being equal, interest payments will double to 40% of tax revenue.

I don't think Fannie will eat the whole 5 trillion, but there is a long list of FDIC insured banks in the same sinking boat. A billion here, a billion there, it'll add up pretty quickly.

The lies and propaganda are going to be swept away by sheer mathematical reality. I wonder who they will try to scapegoat?

Original article: Bridesmaid revisited

There is an easy way to get out of weddings...

...next one you go to, get hammered at the reception and pick a fight with the best man.

Word will get around fast. You'll not be asked to attend any more of these silly, meaningless, interminable ceremonies.

This works for ladies, too, BTW.

Speak for yourself, Heather....

...Obama is the same bullshit in a different sack, and the boomers are going to suck the life out of us in their retirement, leaving nothing for ours.

Change? That's the nickle they hand back from the dollar they take.

Thursday, November 20, 2008 06:49 PM

That was brilliant, Cary...

...thank you.

What's wrong with progressive?

It just sounds better. The word 'liberal' has been festooned with the twin albatrosses of the exasperated, sighing Al Gore, and the skinny old ranting hippie. Maybe unfairly, but it is what it is.

Let it go and move on.

Beautiful.

Thank you.

Where have we heard this before?

"Do as I say, or we're all doomed!"

Change indeed.

Banks own all the politicians that matter

They set the price of what you buy, and determine how much the money you earn is worth. By controlling these things, they control your access to health care, and thereby, your life span. They own you like a mutt they picked up at the pound, and will put you down if you get snappy.

Keep Hoping if it makes you feel better...but don't be pissed when reality inevitably butts in.

They played the housing market game, and lost...

...hence the term "loser". It happens. These folks can rent, just like those of us that saw this disaster building have been all along.

If by some miracle they manage to prop up house prices, it will just make houses unaffordable to anybody that doesn't already have one...which will kill demand and bring prices down.

If the plan is to make housing unaffordable without government assistance, they may be onto something...

The terminology is confusing

Quiverfull? Clown car, more like.

Original article: Ask the pilot

Kinda makes sense...

...either you can fly the plane or you cant. Seems unfair to shove others out of the way when they can do the job just as well.

The invisible hand can be bought off...

This is a wake up call to everyone...

... who thinks right wing pundits have a monopoly on stupid.

Sometimes I wish a critical thinking class were required to exercise one's first amendment rights, much like the gun safety classes often required to exercise one's second amendment rights.

Original article: The Learjet repo man

Oh, unbunch those panties...

"So much macho bullshit in this article I won't even begin to list it all"

The article is six flavors of awesome. Your response makes you sound small, weak, and envious.

Might as well borrow as much as possible while we can...

... because we will not be paying it back with real money. This is the greatest heist in human history.

Monday, September 28, 2009 06:53 PM

Technology will save us!

Yeah, thats it! Technology! Human population is only limited by how high we can stack each other.

Thursday, October 1, 2009 03:02 PM

Thank you...

... for admitting you were wrong. I have never seen an economist or economic writer do that in a mainstream publication.

People who never admit their mistakes never learn from their mistakes, which has largely put us into this mess.

@antiochcat

"There is a difference between debate, disagreement, and counter argument, and just the general gainsaying of anything Obama does."

Yes, there is. The latter is comprehensible to the general population, and the former is not. The democrats are simply adopting the winning strategy of the republicans.

The vast majority of our population can not or will not think. If you want their votes, you have to pitch your candidate the same way a TV rassler is pitched.

Camacho will be along soon, to make everything right.
