  • typical psychobabble claptrap

[Read the article: Why do female leaders have to be "iron ladies"?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why not just copy and paste the old feminist chestnut rather than rewriting it? Successful women are perceived as "bitches", whereas successful men are perceived as "driven". You could have saved four paragraphs right there.

But there is no double standard here, just another old wives tale. A hard driving female boss may be a "bitch", but a hard driving male boss is an "asshole." Seriously, how many of you have not had an asshole boss?

  • sounds like a pre-writen movie review

[Read the article: Kos vs. Rove: Who won the Newsweek primary?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

You know, one where it feels like the reviewer wrote the bulk of the review before going to see the movie, then adds a few tidbits when she gets home to make the deadline. So Rove wins because he's...Rove, and "calls Hillary a bitch." Markos looses because he's backed 'unsuccessful national candidates', and oh yeah, explains how "the Democrats simply can't lose" in 2008.

And as far as Markos having "mostly supported worthy but unsuccessful national candidates", huh? What's next, talking about how the only thing Al Gore has done in the last 7 years is run for president?

Kos didn't get into blogging to support national candidates, he started DailyKos in response to the jingoism that was sweeping the country in 2002. Yes, he backed Dean in 2004, and Dean lost. But how about a mention of 2006, eh? When Kos helped raise money and support for Democrats across the country, and the "genius" Karl Rove proved to be a one track pony as the Republican party went down to massive defeats nationwide. And in between has supported progressive causes and called BS on GOP shenanigans.

Rove is on his way out. Kos is on his way up.

  • morons

What is more important, winning each game by 5 touchdowns or keeping your star players injury free for the playoffs and the Super Bowl? It's going to be pretty pathetic if Moss or especially Brady goes down with a season ending injury just so Bellicheck can stoke his ego and win the season by a 400 point margin.

  • red herring

[Read the article: Roundup: Do these punching bags encourage female violence?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

One question: What about male-shaped targets at shooting ranges and martial arts training dummies?

Aside from the fact that those targets and dummies are even more sexless than a melted Ken doll? How about that those faceless targets have been used for practice for decades, primarily by men, as opposed to this explicit appeal to female aggression *on* men?

Sounds like another case of IOKIYAW - if the sexes were reversed here, your head would explode.

  • sexist chauvinist pig

[Read the article: Childhood obesity: All daddy's fault?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Seriously Carol, your commentary is a bunch of sexist crap. Few things are annoying as a women who manages to twist any detail into an attack on men while making women out to be victims.

  • just kidding

[Read the article: Childhood obesity: All daddy's fault?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Yes, Anon, just as the Southern Baptists were "just kidding" when they ran around telling everyone how "wifes should submit to their husbands".

  • isn't it obvious?

So Edwards wins the nomination, the election, and takes office in January 2009. He then pushes an agenda of universal health care, raising the minimum wage, and increasing protections for workers.

The Republican minority filibusters the legislation, with some help from conservative Democrats.

So Edwards frames the 2010 midterms as the Republicans vs the middle class. Vote out the obstructionists Republicans. Primary the Bush Dogs. Repeat in 2012 and 2014 if necessary.

  • Step 1: ignore Edwards

[Read the article: When principles aren't enough]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Step 2: write him off as quickly as possible.

I understand why the corporate media does it. I don't understand why so many Democrats seem to be eager to do the same.

  • Dave, thanks for the GOP talking points

    ...and the redneck elitism.

I'm the relatively priveleged son of a doctor (not a mill worker), yet even if I had Edwards' money, I would never build a 28,000 square foot mansion.

Edwards did and he has the money. So your point is, what exactly? And do you hate all people who have huge houses, or just a Democrat that dares to spend the money he earned?

There's a fundamental disconnect when a millionaire charges $55,000 to give a speech on poverty that just doesn't sit well with an Iowa farmer.

So he should speak for free as opposed to thousands of other people who give paid speeches at universities? Because that's where Edwards made his speech, he wasn't charging poor people to make a speech about poor people. So, again, do you hate anyone who charges a fee for speaking, or just John Edwards?

The $400 haircuts. I know it's a stupid story, but 14 years after Bill Clinton got raked over the coals mercilessly for his expensive haircut on the LAX runway, any polititian with HALF a brain should have learned that you get your hair cut for $10 by a barber (not a hairstylist) named Bert at a Main Street barbershop with a red, white, and blue barber pole out front. No exceptions.

Yes, it's a stupid story, as are those who repeat it. He hired a stylist to do his hair at a hotel room, but arrived late. Edwards had the (gasp!) idea that people should be paid for their time, thus the $400. Oh, the humanity.
