The publicity this is generating is well worth the effort!
Well, entirely aside from anything else, Obama is intelligent and Biden isn't evil.
More like Secret Service nine mills.
I just watched the first part of the interview. Ms. Sarah 'NUCULER' Palin. Oh boy, here we go again.
Nit picky, I know, but it's toe the party line not tow. Sorry, it was just bugging me because I've seen it here before.
I've been a regular reader here for probably about a year though I rarely comment (actually not true - I comment all the time, just don't post it. My dogs and cats have to listen to my commentary!) GC made me go cross-eyed before but then he disappeared and I found that I really missed him. When he reappeared I took the time and trouble to figure out where he'd gone and why and started reading him more closely. I discovered a lot of much needed wisdom (at least for me)and humor in his writing, although I don't pretend to understand everything he writes! FWIW
How about President Obama wants to legalize infanticide!
In Colorado, all electronic equipment (including cellphones) has to be turned off before entering the polling place.
I wonder if those multitudes convinced that the good ol' US of A will self-destruct if/when Obama is elected will go someplace else. Unfortunately, I predict that few of them actually will.
Was is after Obama's short conversation with "Joe the Plumber" that they really started pushing the "Obama's a socialist" line?
These reprehensible "policies" of the last 8 years have made dangerous enemies of many who would otherwise have been friends of America. Those who are innocent should be freed, but how can that be accomplished without potentially harming many? Talk about a recruiting tool for bin Laden.
Lieberman has, I would guess, a great amount of influence as Chairman of the Committee of Homeland Security and as such can easily undermine many of the policies that Obama would want implemented. That being said, it seems like Obama should be allowed some input, but should not be allowed to force a decision. Perhaps there are other chairmanships where Lieberman's input would be more appropriate?
This is his idea of humor? What an a**wipe.
These people have their heads in the sand, they don't have a clue. ..."significant inroads with people of color and others." Hea can't even bring himself to say who those "others" are. Idiot.
As Chairman of this committee I would assume that Lieberman has a great amount of influence over some fairly important decisions. What will Obama and the Senate Dems so when Lieberman blocks some important piece of legislation to try and hold them hostage to his agenda? Do they really think that they have enough influence over him to prevent him from doing this? It's too bad that he has 4 more years before he's up for reelection.
Depends on your definition of exceptional, I guess.
The supporter that wrote the letter to the editor was complaining about Walz's vote on the FISA bill. That doesn't sound like the letter writer was calling for bipartisanship.
Went to school with Salazar (undergrad). Applauded when he won the race for the Senate. Now, not so much. I've been disappointed in him for awhile.
Who's GBT?
Waxman won the House Energy Committee and Elephantman is absolutely HORRIFIED!
Thank-you for that BONUS.
Let's hope this is good news. It remains to be seen who he actually does end up choosing.
But Robert is apparently staying on as Defense Secretary.
One can wish, can't one?
Why is it that you won't try to engage in rational discussion rather than just spewing? Are you unable?
It's so disappointing to come too late to the thread to not see why the troll of the day has been named!
On a related note, the Canadian PM and his Conservative party are apparently trying to eliminate public financing of political campaigns as part of the new budget.
I don't know that we'll ever (or at least anytime soon) get back to where torture is considered an abomination in this country. Unfortunately, I believe that there are many people who not only think that torture is justified for information-gathering but simply for vengeance, up to and including many of the politicians making policy.
Do you suppose that they really believe their own words?
You all make an otherwise often depressing (but very informative)blog fun. Thank-you. Also O/T it sounds like Obama is going to chose an outstanding individual, Steven Chu, as Energy Secretary - someone who's not beholden to the oil and gas interests.
Maybe someone already posted this, but there's an article in The Nation by Christopher Hayes on Obama's "pragmatism" which quotes Glenn's blog piece on pragmatism and ideology. It's at www.thenation.com/doc/20081229/hayes/2.
I often wonder where we would be now, what would have happened if, as should have occurred, Al Gore had been president on 9/11. (Indeed if 9/11 would have happened had he been at the helm.) I would like to believe that we would not have invaded Iraq, would not have committed war crimes, etc. I honestly believe that Bush, Cheney and Co. were, and still are, motivated not just be fear but also by pure, unadulterated revenge and feel justified because, after all, America can do no wrong and no one can get away with harming America.
Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you for asking what OS means! I've been wracking my brain for months trying to figure that out, but felt foolish for having to ask. Someone much smarter and better informed having to ask makes me feel less foolish.
Do you have a tune to go along with your lyrics?
I just received, in the mail from The Salon Media Group, a copy of GG's "How Would A Patriot Act?" Don't know why, but it's a nice surprise!
Ja, w...needs to b...gonne. To protect himself from those nasty terrurists ya know.
