how much I hate this strip.

    Today's Gripe:

What the hell is up with the font change between the second and third panel?

  • clues

    @ Tina

There does seem to be a studied and deliberate awfulness. It bespeaks deliberation and intent. Has it been analyzed for metadata? Perhaps there are clues encoded that communicate something more and the strip itself is merely a sort of coda?

    something like:

Cut flesh to large dice and combine with flesh from claws. Wash shells well and drain. Heat butter in a saucepan. Whisk in flour, salt and nutmeg. Heat and stir until bubbly. Whisk in half and half and wine. Add lobster and stir to coat well. Remove from heat. Invert shells onto a broiler pan and fill with lobster mixture. Top with grated cheddar cheese. Place in broiler briefly to melt cheese and brown lightly. Remove to a serving platter. Garnish with wedges and parsley.

    Anyone?

this thing continues to suck. My explanation? The simplest is probably correct: someone has had sex with someone else, been offered a inadvisable professional opportunity, and we are left to view, with horror, the abomination that resulted. This is the worlds ugliest baby.

There is no irony here (though it will certainly be claimed later) only incompetence and bad design.

But that is not why I have chosen to address you.

Has anyone else been struck by the similarity of awfulness between this and another grotesquely uninteresting but for it's awfulness expression of misanthropy: the editorial cartoon on The Onion?

It's better drawn, certainly. And it achieves a degree of coherence to which Kansas may only aspire. But it fits every bit as badly, and is quite as painfully unfunny.

    Anyone?

Can someone please identify all the "journalists" and they times which they appear on the video? It would be an interesting and illuminating exercise to tie them to their examples of bias.

Why is the ppt never discussed? I cannot help but feel they have some culpability. They're Paulson's enforcement and a profoundly un-free market force. It seems incredible that no-one ever talks about them.

  • dealbreakers?

Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, Jonathon Edwards, or that ignorati who wrote about the cures "they" don't want you to know about. Ironic ownership and opposition research exempt you from judgement.

  • My last word on the subject.

[Read the article: My last word (for now) on sexism]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Certainly, there are sexists opposing Hillary, just as there are racists who oppose Obama. My dislike for her is not rooted in her gender, but what I perceive to be her lack of honesty, and lack of principled commitment.

  • Not a mermaid.

A siren. And those aren't legs.

The logo is the original, still in use at the first store, at Pike's market.

All that being said I would totally buy my doppio at Slutbucks.

  • There it is

And why should he pay her off? What has she given up?

He can't trust her as VP or Majority leader. As for her debts? Well they're HER debts aren't they?

  • an exception. Can you think of another?

I have to say I am pretty thick skinned, but I am occasionally offended by portayals of men on television. But instead of naming the offenders as there is not nearly not enough space here, let me praise a shining beacon of male competence. Hank Hill of the show King of the Hill should be recognized as the beautiful aberration that he is. Oh he's occasionally clueless, but never stupid, Hank is the show's moral center and ultimately is greatest practitioner of competence.

We can still stop this thing? Get Chris Dodd to filibuster, take over the airwaves, bring this thing to a halt?

    It's not too late, right?

well after reading this language from the bill:

    (i) authorized by the President during the period beginning on September 11, 2001, and ending on January 17, 2007

I could not help but recall Qwest CEO Joseph Nacchio's allegations in appeal documents that the NSA requested that Qwest participate in its wiretapping program more than six months before September 11, 2001.

This activity would not be protected, correct?

  • I don't see abandoning the constitution as a "Centrist" position

I talk about this issue every day with one new person. It's a goal I've set for myself. I guess it makes me a crashing bore, but I am willing to risk stigmatization for this one.

Not to be a bucket of cold water, here, but are there any other sources for this bag image. I'ld love it if they were that dumb, but all I can find is the one blog reference. I'm afraid this might be a hoax...

  • uh.

[Read the article: The attention-driven Warren]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

this seems excessively editorial... usually the analysis comes coupled with some new bit of news. This is just, well, a rant.

You could have mentioned the Solzhenitsyn story which McCain stole or the fact that he seemed, well, "prescient" when answering questions despite Warren's assurance that he was hearing the questions for the first time.

  • I'm glad to see this kind of thing from Obama

That being said, the internet does not have a seat in the electoral college. Releasing this only on the internet is masturbatory. Is it going to air IRL?

Hey, Glenn -I know you read some of these comments. How about a ouple articles on the Obama assasination attempt? It seems the FBI wanted to charge them but U.S. Attorney Troy Eid said no. This seems particularly curious after Marc Harold Ramsey, an inmate already incarcerated at the Arapahoe County Jail in Colorado, was charged by Eid with sending a threatening letter to John McCain from behind bars?
