Why didn't she file a criminal complaint?

If you get raped, the thing to do is go to the police. It's their job to investigate crime.

Filing a civil case is a poor approach. Even if it's successful, Ben's only going to be out some money. He won't be going to jail. And why a year later? That simply doesn't make any sense.

Finally, I like how you set 'sports culture' up with 'rape culture', as if everyone at ESPN, or all Pittsburgh fans are rapists or rapist enablers. Nice. I'm sure you'd have done the same if someone in the art world had been accused of rape. It couldn't be that a Salon blogger is biased/biggoted.

If .22 blood alcohol content and penetration = Rape.

There's probably alot of rape occuring from gay bars. Hopefully broadsheet will address that crisis next.

So since women can't *rape* men, men can't be violated by women in any sense?

By that logic there's no problem with a woman getting a man drunk and taking advantage of his impairment. Since it's not technically rape.

Please don't tell me you're an idiot too?

Oooh snap!

Friday, July 24, 2009 03:45 PM

Good job avoiding the question too.

Beats having to think I guess. Lulz.

Friday, July 24, 2009 04:16 PM

Svut. You were doing so good.

Are you trying to hurt my feelings by calling me an idiot and not answering my question (hint I asked about 'violation' not rape)? So Sad. I pity you.

As for this, "Because ESPN knows they - and the entire sporting industry - has a lot to lose if one of their hero's image is tarnished." That's preposterous. They tarnish 'hero's images daily with their steroids reporting.

Also "women are not interested in quick fix sex". Wow! There's a sexist comment. No women anywhere? Not one women likes quick fix sex? You might want to get out more buddy! No wonder you're so cranky.

Thanks for the laughs! I'm gonna go grab some brewskis now and maybe by some for the ladies. Hope you don't call the cops.

Original article: "This is my no, no square!"

I don't care for abstinence education either.

But wow! Got your sneer on don't you girl! That's broadsheet. Look at how dumb these right wing christian hill billys are.

Since TCF broadcasts her sex life, we know she has no problems with birth control and she's having a great time. Ha! Losers. Beat that!

I'm sure if this was a muslim event Tracy wouldn't have said shit against it. She's cool like that. She's not some red neck!

Original article: For girls, a major bummer

Engineering is harder.

Electrical Engineering is simply more difficult than Eskimo Lesbian studies or whatever. The people who go into it are putting in the work so they can make a living in the future. People who major in this stuff are largely guys who worry that their future wife won't want to work or if she does it'll be in some barely paid art historian gig or something.

If there's an economic model that rewards people for bitching about the patriarchy or going to Czechoslavia and then coming back and telling everyone how awesome it is over there then that's what you need.

What's this business about Rape Culture.

The guy got 20 years. Hope he suffers appropriately. That's justice.

Why sue the Hotel? Cause they have $ and might be willing to settle. It's a hustle. A scam.

They didn't rape her. She has as much business suing the state government for allowing this guy to walk around freely.

I feel your pain.

I've did janitorial work for years in the late 80's and early 90's.

At some point jobs like this went from being a low rung but feasible way to make a living, to something that is considered *untouchable* work and we have Mexicans doing it at the minimum wage or less.

Sometimes I think all blue collar work is going this way. Outsourced to China or insourced to Mexicans. I don't know when this decision was made, but it sucks for working class Americans. A degree, a good work record - that isn't going to cover you anymore.

As Carly Fiornia reminded us - "There's no God given right to a job in America." Thanks. No right to a long term Union job, now theres no right for hardworking people to get by at all.

Thanks for writing the article and telling it like it is.

giving ourselves just eight months to plan the wedding.

8 Months is a long time. Seriously lavish weddings are a joke. The people who do have 30k to spend on 1 friggin day obviously have too much money.

Original article: I dislike my mother!

Some parents really are bad.

It's hard to tell though cause you only have the parents you have. Makes it hard to compare.

You're mother sounds like a jerk. I'd say stay in her life like you're doing but don't spend too much time with her - email rules for this.

I do note she apologized. I'm not sure how much you can apologize for years of bad behaviour. I wonder if after a certain point, thats just who you are? I mean apologizing for a particular bad act, that I can see. Years of neglect and disrespect? You can't say you're sorry and mean it unless you've taken steps to be a different person entirely.

In any case, you are in good company I think. I'd say the majority of the people I know either hate or completely disregard at least one of their parents.

Best of luck.

Is it physically possible for you to review the movie at hand Andrew?

"But we should also take away the lesson that the systems we call capitalism and democracy were not ordained by God, do not reflect the end-point of history and are not destined to last forever."

If you see movies to be taught a "lesson" you are watching movies for a different reason than I am brother.

There's drama and there's propaganda. Drama critics review movies. Propaganda critics tell people what to think.

Try getting out of the shell you live in sometime. Just a suggestion.

Are we supposed to forget Chappaquidick?

He killed a woman and got away with it because his last name is Kennedy.

Does anyone honestly think they could get away with the same thing?

Murder, alcholism, nepotism. Nice legacy.

I like the fact he was a pro-choice vote too. But seriously. He was a bum.
