Hate and Fear - uh, no.

"My point is that you and everyone else in this country who hate and fear immigrants also live better lives because of their hard work, both in the past and today."

I don't hate or fear immigrants or anyone else. I merely point out that increasing the population, dramatically, has some substantial negative consequences. For example, when schools are overcrowded with the children of illegal immigrants, American's lives are thereby diminshed, not enhanced. It's very simple.

If they allow themselves to be baited into persecuting illegals

By persecuting I guess you mean enforcing the laws supported by the vast majority of Americans. Anyway, if they feel perscuted here - might I suggest they stay home.

They dont' have dialysis in Mexico?

"Are you really arguing that those kidney patients should be denied the treatment that is keeping them alive? What do you think would happen to those people if you sent them home? Most would die."

I didn't know the US is the only place with modern medicine. If Mexico doesn't have dialysis machines, it can buy some.

Re-define marriage?

OK. What's the definition of marriage now? Two people, of the opposite sex (unless they got married in Cali or Mass), agree that if they ever divorce they will split their property 50/50, unless they have a pre-nup. (Or something like that.) Legally, what else does it say?

Aside from extending gay marriage to all the states, what's to modify? TCF didn't seem to offer any suggestions.

I'd be happy to go with Michael Kinsleys suggestion and get the government out of the marriage business altogether. If people want to make a personal bond that's their private biz.

It might be good if everyone went vegetarian.

But...

"Killing animals is never "sustainable." Its murder, plain and simple." It's not environmentally friendly, but how does the fact that it's *murder* imply it's unsustainable? Actually, murder is good for the environment, fewer people means fewer people raping Gaia.

People have been eating meat for thousands of years. In fact, it aided in our evolution as a species.

I agree with everyone else:

If you compare eating meat to rape and then support rapists, you are 100% grade A full of shit hypocritical Hollywood twat.

Sustainable <> Good

"To be fair, it was holaamigo's argument that eating meat is good because it has been done for so long."

Never said eating meat was good.

The issue I was addressing was whether it's "sustainable." I was pointing out that if it's been done for all of human history. That being the case I consider it relatively 'sustainable' by my definition of the term.

Misogonists out of the woodwork.

"Why is it when mouthbreathers can't argue with a woman, they criticize their femininity and call them a "twat" or the c-word?"

Oh please. Guys call each other cunt and twat all the time. Do you need some smelling salts or what? BTW, it's ok to call people 'mouthbreathers'? How insensitive of you. Are you implying the nasally challenged are lesser people? OMG! I'll have to go sob for an hour now.

Vegetarianism and Slavery

"Whatever your definition of "sustainable" might be, I don't see how you can get around the -- ahem -- similar use of traditions like slavery "for all of human history"."

Where did I argue that anything that's been around forever is something should continue to stay around? I explicity said Sustainable <> Good. Not sure where you keep getting tripped up.

This thread is worthless without pics.

"You like that, baby? You like that?" he asked, though he didn't notice

I wasn't answering."

If you don't like something, you might try telling the guy at the time, as opposed, to say, writing a blog post about it for the whole world to see. Are you even interested in sex anyway or just getting hits by writing about sex?

Original article: Why Dilbert is doomed

The jobs of tomorrow are not what you'd expect.

1. How do you know what I expect?

2. In the 90's people we're writing similar articles saying that we didn't have enough people in the US to do all IT work and we needed to import them. Now the story is that *Dilbert's* doomed? Hmm. Perhaps the truth is somewhere in between? Maybe things aren't always all or nothing?

3. Why discuss this in terms of *Dilbert*? I'm sure many Salon readers will find this cute/clever. I don't. The future of employment in this country is a serious subject. I find this approach condescending and it speaks of the flippancy of internet writing. Typical Salon.

4. If the assertion is that the number IT jobs are shrinking, should we not eliminate the H1-B visa, which is based on the assumption that we don't have enough tech people here?

Just sayin...

@6Stringer

"It must be great to be passive in courtship, and in sex, then judge the performance of those that do the heavy lifting."

That is a good point. If you can't even talk to the person you're having sex with, your a lousy ass lover *and* a blabbermouth. Stay classy MEW.

Rough times.

"Wouldn't a man who loves a woman be sexually attracted to her regardless of changes in appearance?"

Desire is an animal thing. Superficial good looks count. Do the men who go to strip clubs desire the strippers? Yes. Do they love them? No.

On the other hand, it's very easy to love someone and not want to have sex with them.

Sorry about the cancer. Good luck. FWIW, the guy sounds ok overall. Sounds like he's sticking by you. Even if he consciously wants to have sex with you as a considerate partner, his body reaction just might not be there.

Monday, November 9, 2009 10:16 AM

Fault?

Fault has nothing to do with it. If you aren't attracted to someone you shouldn't fake it. Should he lie to her? You think that'd be better? More caring? Take a couple viagra and do your duty?

If the lack of sex is deal breaker for this woman, by all means split. The guy is being honest about his feelings though and he gets shit on for it. This is why men lie.
