RE Joan Walsh
[Read the article: Flagging America's racial divide]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I wonder if this article is meant to explain or excuse Joan Walsh's continuing 'discomfort' with Obama. Maybe a bit of both?
I guess it could be kind of useful who are trying to bridge the generation gap and understand her perspective. Having grown up in working class catholic neighborhoods I'm all too familiar with all of the anger and all of the euphimisms used to cover it up and make it sound polite.
I would still say it is something to get past and that we have to stop excusing it. It would seem obvious but apparently it it isn't.

Who cares?
[Read the article: Stop the mommy madness]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Is anybody - beside writers who make a buck off of the controversy - really paying any attention to the mommy wars?
Most of the parents I know make the best choices they can within the material conditions of their lives. Outside of the super upper elites for whom parenting is a competitive sport - I see people getting by the best they can and doing what they are able to make a descent life for their families. What else is there really? Has that ever been any different?
I guess Richards' message is a good one- but I don't think we really need a book to tell us that. There's also something strangely condescending about Richards tone- women take a passive role in parenting- really? And buying your book to tell them how to live their lives will change that. That's just funny. Hasn't she noticed that she is part of the 'media' that is busy making women feel insecure?

Prurient projection much?
[Read the article: Miley Cyrus: Daddy's little hurl]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yike- I'm always freaked out by puritans who project their own creepiness onto the world and see sleaze everywhere.
Not all forms of affection have to do with sex! Freaking disgusting what you project onto the image of father and daughter.
Also, what SB said about property rights, etc. was spot on. Ms. Traister I think you need to refrain from blogging while on the cough syrup.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]"Good indication of HER mindset"
I agree- except I think that has nothing to do with feminism and everything to do with authoritarianism. There’s plenty of agreement on the left and right - feminist progressive and conservative regressive (for lack of a better term) about ‘obscenity’ and that is mostly about controlling people rather than expanding their freedom or horizons. Seems to me that the authoritarians think everyone needs controlling because they assume everyones minds are as filthy as theirs!

Obviously the publishers of Salon
[Read the article: Publishers think women are stupid?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]think women are stupid.
Evidence? Broadsheet.
"Broad"sheet! Jeez! I guess it's a clever pun. I'd prefer not to be called a broad though - thank you very much. And pretending this haven of female chauvinism and gossip is feminist is particulalry appalling. I mean, don't you have some young exploited starletss to abuse for being the wrong kind of woman?
(Too harsh? Guess I'm still really grossed out by the Daddys little hurl column just prior to this one.)

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Excellent points!
It is indeed confusing. But I still think the perviness is in the eye of the pervy beholder here.

@Cristines
[Read the article: A new round of superdelegates for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]You'd be better off without video that contradicts your argument. Clearly those "Sharpesville and Hiroshima"- and the "Chickens come home to roost" vidoes are clearly separate sermons.

[Read the article: A new round of superdelegates for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I read the proclamation - and so what? Seems pretty standard issue - local assmebly recognition of a community leaders accomplishments.
On another note- what is it about paranoid, conspiracy theory sites that they have to be almost unreadable? I mean visually - aside from the meandering content- but the stark backgrounds and unreadble fonts. It seems alomost universal where you have crazy conspiratorial rants you have an almost unreadable site. Maybe its the government brain implants?
