Accepting that 'ew' factor nonsense is dangerous for health!
[Read the article: "She had her mouth on my dad's penis!" ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]If we could just be frigging grownups life would be so much better. (Why do so many articles on salon have 'ew' and 'creepy' in them. Sounds like a bunch of teenagers- grow up!) If the staff in that facility bought into the 'ew factor' they are contributing to endangering the health of the people in their care. They should be providing information and protection from STIs. Instead they are like a bunch of kids all squicked out at gram and gramps getting it on and they would prefer to look away letting nursing homes and care facilities become STI breeding grounds.
My heart breaks for this couple. I really try to never wish harm on anyone but it is damn difficult to not hope for revenge on this nasty piece of work of a son. Would be fitting if he got a case of incurable, untreatable ED and had to live without sex for the rest of his natural life.

Is this Hobbs guy still part of the Tennessee DNC?
[Read the article: Tennessee Dem leader suggests Obama has terrorist connections]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]What does he do on the Tennessee Democratic Party's executive committee? Is he still a member? Why is he putting such foul words in the mouth of or implying these are the thoughts of another person?
Seems like he, not Davis is the problem here- though strange that he didn't comment or rebut this crap directly.

I wonder how many
[Read the article: Tim Russert, one of the good guys]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]of those who complain about Tim Russert's complicity in the war and accuse him of being 'soft' on the administration actually watched Meet the Press...
Certainly he provided a platform but also gave those same administration officials enough rope to hang themselves. Some call it gotcha politics I would say it is standing up for your words and the going on the record.
This partisan liberal watched his show regularly. I appreciated the opportunity to see people held to account to their word. It seems to me that means something.
I watched that show- and lots of Sunday shows- altogether too much teevee really and was still able to see the disaster that the Iraq misadventure would be as well as the many horrifying policies and decisions made in the last few years. In fact, while the media was certainly not perfect - and sometimes complicit (I'm looking at you the gray lady) I still knew plenty and marched against the war and did everything else in my (negligible) power including writing my reps at the time.
Yes the administration used the media to propagate lies and "catapult the propaganda" and there were some who helped. Some, like Russert, provided the forum and were perhaps too polite and their better natures taken advantage off but they didn't tell the lies or seek to elevate them. Quite to the contrary there was plenty of good info at the time against the war for anyone who was interested in looking.
I'll miss Tim Russert on MTP - Sundays will be poorer for his absence. That we all can't see the need for decency and respect in a time or mourning befuddles me.
Rest in peace Tim Russert.

I wish
[Read the article: Gore to endorse Obama Monday night]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]it could be taken for granted that the Dems former VP and presidential candidate could be counted on to endorse the party's current nominee. But look at Lieberman - former VP nominee out there stumping for McCain. It is the only upside to Gore's loss is the exposure of Liebrman's true nature.
I hope we win enough seats in the Senate to tell Lieberman piss off on his committee chairmanships. Hey if wants to continue to caucus with the dems that's fine but he shouldn't be chairing the homeland secrurity committee. It is a travesty that he is in any leadership position for the party at all.
Anyhow, I'm glad Gore is backing Obama now- somebaody made the good point ealier that it was too sticky to pick him over Clinton before the nomination was decided.

Lol lol lol
[Read the article: Quote of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Maybe someone should tell McCain's brillant aid that if he wants to make a counterpoint attack on their not being savvy or up to speed he might want to insert the name of someone in the news this week...

it is funny
[Read the article: Quote of the day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]and seems to be amusing in ways they intended and in ways they did not....
And for what it is worth I read Juliebird's comments as defending against ageism not perpetrating it. Might want to back up and re-read that unless the flying off the handle all cranky like was meant to be a joke :)

Ummmmm Karenn22
[Read the article: Gore to endorse Obama Monday night]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The Secretary of DHS is a cabinet level position. The congressional committees are there for oversight. I see no reason why Lieberman can't be replaced by a real democrat if the democrats have a real majority. Lieberman has blackmailed the dem senate leadership that he will leave the caucus if he loses any senority or chairmanships. This is not right- especially in light of his voting record- but it has been allowed to stand because the dem majority is so tenuous.

This is why there is not supposed to be a religious test
[Read the article: Volunteers blocked Muslims from being seen with Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]for the office. It is disgusting that Obama has to beat back 'rumors' in the first place. But too many people in the media and the public have accepted that you have to be a certain faith to be president. The problem with the religious test (is obviously) that you can flunk and have the wrong religion or no relgion at all- despite that this scrutiny is against our best traditions and a violation of our principles. It is our own fault, however for accepting these as the rules of the game. If you think the president needs to be a Christian this is your fault, accept it.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]is a McCain operative collecting blogging points for some bright shiny toy. Maybe some penny candy. Pay no heed, Obama can do no good in her eyes, she only shows up where she can stir the pot.
