No one here besides Bryan upset with KStone dropping the n-bomb?

So he can't say broad which is bad, except when it is in broadsheet. I bet he can't say bitch, which is bad unless it is Tina Fey saying it.

    But the n-word, no problem.

    I rest my case.

I don't want any part of the feminism that is about protecting weak vessels from the mean boyz. I can handle mean and I'll fight stupid. Can't reason with hypocrites though.

I'm totally with you. Can't see how it is even marginally ok to suggest you would vote McCain to spite people- women, spefically on choice because your a feminist! It boggles!

By the fwiw I would love to see just about anyone replace Harry Reid. Hillary would be great for the job as long as she wouldn't exploit it to start the war with Iran that seems to be itching for.

"Women first. I really believe that."

Then you are chauvinist and a bigot and ultimately a detriment to the cause of feminism.

  • Thanks AKA but

"I hope you don't listen to rap music. You might faint."

I am not a weak vessel that needs your protecting. My feminism is about equality, diginity and the common humanity of all people.

You know damn well KStone threw that in there to put the words Obama and the n-word together. you can't just us the hypothetical voice for that and then say I didn't say it.

When I spoke about your writing skills I meant you should use your power for good. You can use it to rally people to your women first bigotry - that is your prerogative obviously but I would say it is a waste of a gift. But hey, people waste tehri gifts everyday- I won't (can't) stand in your way.

And I'm not into the pc-word policing thing. That is the province of gender feminists and other authoritarians. I have decried that in my posts multiple times. Here I was just trying to point out the hypocrisy which still stands.

"When women achieve equal rights then I will worry more about men."

This is utterly impossible! Ignoring the needs and concerns of the other of half the human race will not get you anywhere. This promted the need for feminism in the first place! And no, I don't buy into the idea that we have aachieved equality but I don't see how pitting groups of people against eachother will help attain that. Are men the enemy then?

For goodness sake- I know I have my blindspots and weaknesses, I'm human. But I cn not understand how someone who is clearly so smart can be so blinkered to think 'women first' or anyone first for that matter.

Maybe that is why you are so uncomforatble about Obama- assuming that everyone puts their identities above all else and wishes everyone else to go to hell? That is not the case. That is some people and it is a dangerous stance but thank heaven that is not everyone.

Also, using anti-feminist jibes like your bros and hos and chicks up front, is really ugly. Just part of the chauvinism

  • AKA I think you have a real humaity problem

You can overlook the point about language hypocrisy if you want but to pretend bitch and the n-word are the same thing is just bat-shit crazy. I'm not saying you can't use that word- I'm saying I don't - but I don't advocate word policing.

If you think battering, raping and otherwise abusing women represents men's 'interests' again, that is bat-shit crazy. It's not about interests, its about criminal behavior.

Yes, I know, it took society a long time to change attitudes and for some very basic things as these to be ackowledged as crimes - or crimes against a person an not property. But we're not there any more - we have arrived at least in the sense that all of those things are recognized as wrong. Do they still happen, yes, all too often! Maybe if we did worry about protecting men from crime and violence we could end that cycle...

Again, if you want to denigrate me with misogynistic words, I can't, won't and wouldn't try to stop you. I'll just continue to point out that that betrays your chauvinism- putting me in my place because I'm the wrong kind of woman, the wrong kind of feminist.

Thanks- and sorry- didn't mean to ignore that.

I don't know enough of where you're coming to know if I need to reject or renouce you- but sticking with what you said I totally agree :)

I am dismayed by fundamentalist anything. Now, radical, that's a different thing- I think it can be fine to be outside the mainstream- all of the various human rights causes were at one time. But to think any group or idea should be held above another or a theory is more important than any person's life- well, count me out.
