Portia

I appreciate the comments. I will probably vote for McCain, but would rather not. If Obama selected Clinton for the VP position, it would mend some of the damage of the campaign but would not address the fact of an empty suit at the top of the Democratic ticket. So in that case I would still not vote for the ticket but would not vote for McCain.

Vitamin Water Democrat

P.S. lolcait -- A McCain/Republican win is better for the Democrats, how?

It will demonstrate that Democrats refused to countenance a watered down makes-the-DLC-look-like-the-ACLU empty suit as representative of the Democratic party.

I saw Mrs. Clinton say she didn't, "believe," that Barack was a Muslim, when she knew very well the exact Christian church he had attended for 20 years, because she attacked him for attending there.

Do you go around aggressively asserting you are certain of the religious beliefs of other people who aren't you?

If you do, you are out of line. The only question you can answer is whether you have heard them state their religion, and whether or not you believe what they said. Which is what Mrs. Clinton did.

Obama's attendance at Trinity was about politics, as he demonstrated when he denounced Rev. Wright after stating he couldn't denounce him any more than he could denounce his white granny. It is supporting evidence of exactly nothing, and certainly not enough evidence to justify anyone's claim that they know with certainty what his religious beliefs are.

It was not Hillary's place to say Obama was or wasn't "absolutely" any religion.

By the way, fabulous letter, Won'tGetFooledAgain.

Hey man what gives?

Why so edgy, Obama people?

You don't need votes from us Clinton people, do ye?

Friday, August 22, 2008 09:46 AM

We tried to warn you

You'd be amazed how easy it is to pick off soft Obama supporters right now. If it's a female over 50, you can say you notice how the Obama team seems to be rubbing Hillary Clinton's face in it. If it's someone in a financial mess you talk about how untested and unpredictable Obama is and how the economy would get so much worse. If it's any undecided you talk about how brain dead voters are to get behind a celebrity candidate that has no record or accomplishment. You also tell them you just can't see Obama sitting across from Putin.

They are prime for the picking right now. We shouldn't have nominated Barack Dukakis.

Blame game

Ever go into a democratic headquarters that wasn't staffed by advanced aged ladies? Never happened before Barack Dukakis and after he loses won't happen after. Wrong group of people to blame when B. Dukakis loses blame the morons who nominated him.

Train wreck

Most of us who were Clinton primary voters but who think McCain would be a marginally to much better president than Barack Dukakis are just enjoying watching the train wreck. Contributing to it even.

Latest polls say we're about half of the undecideds.

Seeing the light

I really liked him until this campaign and then I had to face the facts about the two of them, that they would do or say anything to win.

I wonder if you know how dumb that sounds

Insight

I will never understand the point of the so-called PUMAs

All you have to do is listen to one of the vast majority of Barack Dukakis voters who vow they won't support Hillary Clinton after he loses the election.

We're just doing it first. The difference is the numbers showed our candidate could win.

New McCain ad is lethal

So McCain's new ad shows Biden stating Obama wasn't ready to be president and also saying he would be happy to run with McCain.

LOL

Genius

Three female members of my household have just gotten off the neutrality fence and will vote for McCain.

I, the fourth and most conservative (Hillary Clinton voter) made that decision the day the race became McCain-Obama.

McCain just won a huge chunk of undecideds. They also picked Palin to highlight Obama's inexperience. Genius.

Amused

It's funny to see Barack Dukakis voters complaining about empty suits (pantsuits) and inexperience.

Also funny to see them complain that female voters will vote for McCain because of a woman on the ticket when the only reason white Democrats backed Obama over Clinton is because he was a man. Clinton and McCain are qualified, Obama isn't, and Palin probably isn't.

Obama fans hoisted on their own petards.

If Palin is Quayle with a pony tail

then Obama is Quayle with a tan.

And Obama is at the top of the ticket.

Obama won the nomination because he has a dick. McCain will win the presidency because his VP doesn't.

chuckle

McCain will get the same female voter advantage out of the uncontrollable sexism against Palin that gave Hillary Clinton her upset in NH and subsequent wins in big Democratic swing states.

Salon letter writers can't even help themselves.

Brilliant, brilliant pick.

@Servo

But no, he picked an experienced senator from a safely blue state who had not been able to garner more than 3 percent support during the primaries. Why? Because he's knowledgeable, will be able to help Obama govern, and is no doubt able to step into the role of president were that required of him.

So why didn't Barack Dukakis pick an experienced Senator with 50% of Democratic support who is knowledgeable, would help govern, and is able to step into the presidency?

Bad judgment and fear of exposing the fact he's an empty suit celebrity.

Rove's checklist

sexist criticism: CHECK

grossly lowered expectations: CHECK

Brilliant, brilliant move for McCain.

Obama too emotional

Obama passed up Hillary because they don't personally like each other very much

That's probably right, but if he couldn't deal with it and pick the most qualified person it only shows he's too emotional to be president. What happens if he makes decisions on national security based on emotional dislike to a foreign leader?

Obama/Clinton would have been unstoppable

Barack Dukakis screwed the pooch.

McCain won the election today.

Ms. Palin visited wounded troops in Germany?

Barack Dukakis had some trouble with that if I remember
